Math's not my weak point believe it or not;however, I clearly completely missed the StoreTP job trait and merits from SAM. I was merely going by the StoreTP from gear.
That gear set does give a 3hit build then, yes.

Not everyone will have the gil for an osode when you want them to.
Fact is, there are situations where a domaru makes sense, stat wise and economically, some people need the STP in their WS set to maintain a 5 or maybe 6 hit.
You made a point about osode+hachi but you see people arguing about cost. The osode alone costs far more than a domaru for +2 STR
I am using a domaru atm as my gear isn't as optimal as it could be and I need the STP for a 5 hit.
Eventually I plan on getting Usu body/feet, Rajas, Rose Strap and White Tathlum to bring my Keitonotachi to a 5 hit without Carbonara.
Until then I will make use of gear like Domaru unless other STP ws peices come to mind.
If I swap out a perle for a domaru, not only do I retain the same STR in body, I can unequip my thew bomblet for an additional 2 STR or put on my AF pants for an additional 3 STR.
fyi playtime is 40 days, I havn't had time to get stuff like enkidu's subligar.
If anyone can suggest a better body (or other slot) alternative that keeps me in my 5 hit, please, go ahead, I'm up for suggestions.

you have none of this.
Why?
Many reasons, primarily lack of accuracy and haste. It shows you have Rajas Ring so I'm a little confused as to what gear you do and don't have from this list above but I'll presume you're without Usukane for the time being.
It looks like you chose the STP+5 Keitonotachi so you'd need 12 STP on top to reach a 5hit which would mean you'd have to use Hachiman Kote and probably Hachiman Sune-ate if you don't have the Rose Strap/Chivalrous Chain combo.
Without Byakko's Haidate that puts you at 9% Haste, and guessing you have 8/8 GKT with capped skill to match would net you 424acc if using Marinara Pizza. That isn't all that great to be honest so on anything worthwhile you'd probably miss at least once rendering your 5hit void and taking a lot longer to melee again than the high haste/accuracy 6hit counterpart.
Again, I have no idea what your sets are to be specific enough, and I don't mean to sound rude but it's late and I suffer from insomnia. ^^

I had all the above gear on my last char, this char has a much worse build for 5 hit.
I TP in Keitono, tath, rajas, chiv, brutal, acp body +4 stp +10 acc, shini haidate and use carbonara to maintain 5 hit.
I know shini body and perle pants would be better but I care enough about not wanting my character looking terrible.
Currently I only cap on pretty much everything I do outside abyssea with that build, maintaining 15% haste with swift.
However in abyssea, on mandies/bats/bugards I have about 81% acc, this is where I switch to my 6 hit.
Until I get byakkos/usu at least, which would push me up to 90% acc on abyssea mobs. I am not considering wasting carbonara in abyssea.
When I do get haidate, usu feet, pcc and a cuchu I will easily cap on abyssea mobs with carbonara. Until then I'm using 5 hit everywhere outside abyssea (I don't do eg) and 6 hit pizza inside abyssea.

I'm going to be honest... If you are still using a Domaru, you are nothing short of an imbecile...
Let's look at alts for a Domaru, shall we?
 haubergeon - On Asura = 38K, at most 50K on Ifrit. Solid piece for TPing in, can't go wrong with it. And cheap as hell... Speaking of cheap...
 perle hauberk - On Asura = 15K, at most again on Ifrit for 25K. Practically a Domaru +0.5 for WSes, and a Hauby 0.8 for TPing in (Assuming you don't have the full set, I can only assume if you have a Domaru you don't have a Rose Grip, Rajas Ring or Goading Belt to support Full Perle and a 6 hit though), you can't argue with it, it is the best you will get for the price short of buying a single Bonanza Marble and somehow winning with some huge amount of fluke.
In short, it is no longer about price, or difficulty of obtainability, you could do 20 minutes (if not less) of Abyssea and have that body, or you could simply farm a little, 1 and a half stacks of Ladybugs wings (Roughly) is all it would take.
In summary/TL;DR: You look like an idiot wearing a Domaru. NPC it, and move on to something better.
(Sidenote: On most servers Domaru are AHing for cheaper than they NPC for, which is 18K btw)
