I know I'm like 7 pages too late, and it was already mentioned sort of, but there needs to be a complete weaponskill overhaul for WS that do not have front loaded first hit http://FTP.

I don't however want scaling FTP on multihits. What I want is a decent base FTP per hit, all FTP transfer. MNK weaponskills feel really good actually. I use RF, HF, DK, TK, and VS very regularly, and they all excel in different situations. RF is great when I'm at attack cap and I'm using godhands. It's very very strong, because it's got decent base FTP at higher TP values.

Making them ramp damage with TP though will just keep magian weapons in off hand. If ruthless stroke had been 5.0 per hit across all hits... it would have been amazing.

I would really like this to happen.

You give Monk a little flavor, huh? A way to hit with Slashing, a way to hit with Piercing… and baby, you just made MNK shine.

Godhands? That’s a slashin’ machine.
Verethragna? Oh, that’s pointy, that’s Piercing.
Spharai, Sagitta? Keep ‘em blunt, keep ‘em heavy.

Now picture this: switchin’ weapons in Odyssey like you’re changin’ shoes. Suddenly this could make Monk strong in Sortie and Odyssey.

And don’t get me started on that old nerf. Victory Smite, Ukko’s Fury… January 2012, huh? Yeah, they clipped the wings. Even now, both of ‘em? They feel "kinda" weak…compared to the big, shiny WS-meta arsenal of 2025. And with all that power creep rollin’ around? Even if you bring back the crits… not sure it’s enough.

Pre-Nerf

Victory Smite — 15%, 30%, 60% crit rate.
Ukko’s Fury — 30%, 50%, 80% crit rate.

Power-Creep 2025 Adjust

Victory Smite — 40%, 50%, 60% crit rate.
Ukko’s Fury — 60%, 70%, 80% crit rate.

For my twisted little tastes? Oh, I’d even throw in a tiny bit of Critical Hit Damage on top 15%,20%,25%. But hey… that might just be too spicy for some of the purists out there.

-12 (for the jobs that have appropriate evolith NMs) becomes -6, and then you may skip one piece for relic for SP1. It gets easier to justify 4-5 inventory to drop 45 minutes to 39 minutes if it also works for SP2s, particularly on bard.

You can't get -12, there's not enough space. Also for some jobs (COR), You have a JSE piece that takes a slot.

Just confirmed this is correct.

word of caution running random things you get from random people on the internet is usually unwise, but you do you

(please at least validate the code does what you think it should before running something that is going to delete system 32 or something)

Quoting Nifim because it's important to keep this in mind.

Also reminder: the moment this addon comes out, the countdown towards conquest points being nerfed starts.

Anyone have a fully decked out dnc that can share your tp/ws/ja gear sets? Something updated that I can build towards?

....
Isn't that exactly what the first post of this guide is?

Video discussing about Rust and why use it.

I personally am not sold on the "rewrite with Rust and had major gains on performance and security".

Im not sold on those claims because rewriting generally result in better code regardless of technology, if you are learning with your past mistakes, so you can separate the gains from new knowledge and the gains from the technology per se. So I dont really trust giving all credits to Rust alone.

But what sold be is the line that "borrow checker" allows you to write things maybe you never cared but should.

I will give it a go

you just buy more accounts to play the jobs you don't want to play.

Sad, but true.

Most support jobs in "group content" (aka dyna-d) now days are people's boxes.
By Seun on 2025-08-21 06:29:48
The issue for new players is that FFXI endgame is support dominant. There are far more available group spaces for those jobs then the jobs they actually want to play, so they go play the game that has figured out how to model their group composition based on the demographic. In XI, you just buy more accounts to play the jobs you don't want to play.

I think we're getting a little overboard with "fixing" things here.

There are some SPs which aren't very good, and some that are downright bad. Intervene is definitely not one of them. It's incredibly good.
By Nariont on 2025-08-21 02:50:20
Yeah I was wrong on that, so yeah its still mostly only good for anything that does a lot of phys aoes

So uhh, the Phorcys Schuhs, right?

They say, "Enemy TP accuulation -10% when physical damage taken."

What, uhh, what exactly does that do?

When you take physical damage from an enemy, the enemy gains 10% less TP from their attack.

Intervene also gives the afflicted target +40% dmg taken

I don't think that's how the JP work. I read it as "increases the damage dealt by Intervene by 2%" not "increases all damage taken by the target by 2%"

Intervene

Is that what the JP gift does? The way the text on it is worded, just makes it sounds like it raises the damage Intervene deals, so I didn't think much of it.

BRD: Sirvente redesign to +Enmity, so I no longer have to cry inside when a BRD sings it on my PLD/RUN.

Why? Is there a really low cap on this stat that I'm unaware of? PLD realistically has 34 from gear.

Obviously it doesn't really matter once hate is capped, but it can be helpful before that

No, I can easily see someone come play FFXI because of various reasons, but will bounce back because he will meet people saying him to play only Whm for 6-24 months then maybe he will be allowed to come something he really wants to play. 90% of FFXI is easy enough that new players can play any jobs they want and experience FFXI the way they want and learn on their own experience and if they will see this chart seeing that there is quite a lot of jobs used in various events, they will be maybe motivated to explore more of them. Showing just whm on the chart for 6-24 months is poor advertisement of elitist community, even if it's gonna scare one person.

The danger of such a chart is every chump thinking "Oh nice my warrior is useful, I can do endgame."

Sahzi chart:
WHM : ONRY. Bring empy pants, regen4, arise, curaga5, erase.
In 6months-2 years you can bring the other stuff.

....maybe.

Yeah lets advertise this that way, we will for sure get new players..

If your expectation is that people would base their decision on a chart, then it should be clear to you why we don't have any new players. They have already seen the chart that says FFXI is 'Extremely rarely used' and they picked a more 'meta' MMO.

Is fruit parfait actually going to do better than gyudon though?

I feel like WSD+5 is gonna do pretty nice for magic WSes, since you typically dont get as much WSD on your sets compared to phys weaponskills.

Then again, Matk also is a pretty chase stat, hmm
By maletaru on 2025-08-20 23:41:04
I doubt food will make a difference either way but...

Fruit Parfait is cheap
Cehuetzi Snow cone is better
Best is probably STP, one of the 50 pizzas/pastas.

I don't know how to put gear sets in the forum. Here's an updated max dt / magic evasion set.

MaxDTMagicEvasion...

I dont think that is max DT/eva.
Your shield provides you the elemental resistance to get the "Extra savings through" so there is no need to nerf MEva on for ele resistan
Null loop would be better i believe provide oyu and instant boost in Meva

Was the issue with Empyrean body and Dyna-D Wave 3 ever resolved?

Yeah. It was fixed in April of this year. I've not heard any complaints of it happening again so I'm assuming it's actually fixed.
