Watch the movie or don't.
It's about as much a 'movie' as ffxi patches are 'content updates'. (it's not a "new" "movie", it's just a joke, it's mostly redubbed B-movie with some corona related news clips thrown in) *** paged. Repost the trailer cause reasons.

The death rate is unknown, because most people who have the virus have no to minor symptoms. The only reason the quarantine happened in the first place was because they were afraid the hospitals could not cope with the number of elderly patients potentially getting it.
If a leftist government was in control the lockdown would last for literally years, they are the babying parties. Most people want to be treated as adults, they know the social distancing rules and they don't want to waste their lives under house arrest.
Quarantine should always be around the sick and the infirm.
Ultimately, the governors make the decisions so democrat led states gonna be in lockdown a long time.
If a leftist government? The hell are you on about?
If ANY government actually put to action the plans they had on the books, youd see a full lockdown china style for 1 month with slow reopenings during the course of 1 year or until an effective treatment is created.
This is NOT the first pandemic we have faced. Any moron that thinks we should just open up and have things go to normal and doesnt understand that we need to shut down for up to a year when a vaccine is created doesnt understand history, nor the current situation.
And no, its not just about the elderly. A ***ton of people are immunocompromised, and again, just because corona exists doesnt mean people stop getting sick or injured. If a hospital has corona patients, they still need to take in people who got into major car crashes... who are now compromised because their body is busy fighting infection from their injuries. You have much less space and much more room for error with cross contamination because you lack the supplies to deal with everything.
Also, the plan to deal with threats of this nature, even by the US, is full socialism. Not "bernie the social communist hehe i dont understand what these words mean" socialism; actual, REAL socialism. The government now controls production and supply, and anyone that can make essential goods is immediately ordered to do so. Literally been on the books since the 60s or 70s. We had a plan that would have already had us out of lockdown had we actually *** used it.

Also; everyone is so focused on assuming healthy people will be fine just because youre not likely to die, that everyone is overlooking the fact that this can leave you disabled with permanent organ damage. Just because it likely wont kill you doesnt mean it wont cause life long damage.

Surprised? The governors aren't taking it seriously so its getting worse. 260% increase in South Dakota? Whats it gonna take to issue a simple shelter in place order? Every state is at risk, contrary to Trump's fantasies.
As for Trump's "plan," the only notable thing about it is how it is a full retreat from his Monday meltdown in which he tried to declare he had absolute power. The only thing he can do to help the country is fix the horrible state of testing. We aren't reopening until we can test and trace everyone in the country, and we are nowhere near that capability.

260% increase in South Dakota? Again, dishonest reporting.
It happened in one area. So, shut down the entire country because 1 county got a small increase of cases?
P.S. - There are more new cases in NYC in the past 10 minutes than there were in South Dakota for the past day. But that's obviously Trump's, fault, right?
By Viciouss 2020-04-17 12:55:29
It's not "dishonest reporting" to say that South Dakota had a 260% increase in cases. It happened. The report is accurate.

It's not "dishonest reporting" to say that South Dakota had a 260% increase in cases. It happened. The report is accurate. It's dishonest to say 260% when you went from 50 cases to 130 cases.
It's misleading, and nowhere in that article does it show actual data, like the number of cases so far in South Dakota.
Protip: There are just as many cases in Travis County than there are in the entire state of South Dakota.

Going to see explosions in cases like that many more times. All it takes is one timebomb to drive in an infect an entire city not on lockdown.
% is a % 1 case to 10 cases isn't "dishonest" to say 1000% increase. It's a poor choice of scale but it's not dishonest.

Hmm,seems like you just don't like them using the actual percentage. Too bad that doesn't make it dishonest, nor misleading.
Anyways, now that we are seeing a spike in cases in the Midwestern rural states, the country is going to start feeling a different problem. Thats where the food is at. Meat plants are already shutting down, shortages could become a real issue. Trump said yesterday these states could be among the first to reopen, despite it actually getting worse there. No state is "close" to reopening. No matter how much Trump wishes it.

I'd certainly agree its sensationalism designed to prey on the math dumb, because of course just saying 260% is leaving a helluva lot out, but that sounds a lot bigger than the 15% off coupon they got in their email this morning.
But its far from dishonest. Its just incomplete information framed to incite a certain response.

This is exactly what happened in the past. Cities get hit first, and dense population means rapid spread. Areas without high density think they are safe, and get pissed at preventative policies and measures to keep them safe. Then it explodes in their area far more than it did in cities.

It’s academic dishonesty. 260% of 1 is 2.6. If a county had one case and that later increased to 4, the facts I don't like can report that cases have quadrupled so orange man is clearly murdering people with his Nazi policies. Let’s keep the world shut down for another 14 months and run the debt up another $100 trillion and basically ruin the modern world so that a statistically insignificant number of people can not die.
If you’re elderly or immunocompromised then you should stay quarantined, but everyone else should carry on, risk getting sick for a couple weeks, and recover. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I got sick and and it sucked but I recovered after ~13 days and have moved on with my life. The govt only needed to mandate shutdown for just long enough for hospitals to build capacity to handle extreme cases once they issue a general return to work order. They’re not going to keep everything shut down for another 14 months until a vaccine is developed... that would ruin the world’s economy and cause a worse outcome than if everyone in the world contracted coronavirus. The plan is to shut down until hospitals build capacity, then reopen, let everyone get sick, a small percentage of people will need support from the hospitals which now have capacity to handle them, and everyone else suffers for a couple of weeks then moves on. They just can’t tell the plan to the public because the simple masses would cannibalize each other.
Everything is hyper blown out of proportion by the sensationalist facts I don't like. Anyone who isn’t skeptical of pretty much everything they see or read from the propaganda outlets is a fool. All stats are manipulated and all headlines are intentionally misleading.
On a slight tangent: the dumbest facts I don't like story I’ve seen people buy into is that Trump is “intercepting” PPE. Like some nurse or medtech at a regional hospital hears a rumor that their PPE order didn’t show up and posts a rant on Reddit that Trump is personally murdering their staff by personally intercepting shipments of surgical masks. In reality, Trump isn’t making these decisions. FEMA is handling the overall strategy and coordinating disbursing the limited quantities of PPE based on need. So if a regional hospital in BFE Kansas panic orders 30x what they actually need like the toilet paper hoarder freaks, and some city hospital in Miami can’t get enough masks because they’re now all back ordered, then FEMA can belay the order and reroute it. BFE Kansas has no concept of the bigger picture, FEMA does, and neither one of those entities is Trump or his cabinet. Trump doesn’t make ANY policy decision without consulting experts. His job is to make the best decision possible with the information available and then deliver a positive, hopeful message to the public to keep spirits up. Imagine how much more depressed all the ADD zoomers would be if they had to stay home playing video games AND hear nothing but doom and gloom from the propaganda outlets AND their stable genius president also piled on negative messages.
Last thought for this post for TDS sufferers to stew on:
Approximately 1.35 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,700 people lose their lives every day on the roads.
An additional 20-50 million suffer non-fatal injuries, often resulting in long-term disabilities. https://www.asirt.org/safe-travel/road-safety-facts/
With most people staying home and not driving much, more people have avoided death and injury from car crashes than have been killed by coronavirus. You should write a personal thank-you letter to your president Trump for saving all those lives.

The initial nationwide lockdown was done because they feared hospitals could not cope (they had insane projections that have since been scaled way back), that is now passed to most places because everything has been stepped up and we know most places have very few cases / spread out populations. Many hospitals are near deserted compared compared to normal patient counts due to people being locked in their houses and so not having normal accidents. There has to be a point when things go back to normal, the longer this goes on the more damage is done to peoples lives, their mental health, the economy and many other things. People are starving, businesses are going under.
Mew York, London? Sure, lock those places down as long as the governors / mayors want. Year, two years? Sure if you want, nobody will stop you. Country towns, small rural states? No, this is totally unacceptable babying well beyond the risks. People know about social distancing, people know to wash their hands, shops can limit how many people enter, etc etc That's enough for these places, anyone with any fear can still stay at home just fine.
Where I live there are so few cases you would not even know there was a problem at all unless you were told on the internet or TV, yet my entire town is locked down, most shops are closed, the only way to see a doctor is by phone...mainly because of London. The same applies to the US due to New York and some other states.
In the US, each states governors makes the final decision. If you live in a Democratic state, you're going to be enjoying long term lockdowns because their leadership agree with you. If not, you might not. It's all based on number of cases and the hospitals ability to take care of the populations. They will be keeping an eye on infection rates etc so this could still change after the fact.
As a grown adult we have the right to freedom, we do things every single day that are dangerous. From driving, drinking, smoking, taking recreational drugs, skydiving...whatever. We are not prisoners, there has to be an end point. The risks have to be assessed, the entire nation is not New York or London.
The action of our leaders should be proportional to the actual risk, the risk of this virus to most people is low. If you live in a major city, that's not the case. The lockdowns should not be blanket, this is common sense.
Everyone that has any worries, can stay locked in their houses, they can use gloves, they can social distance, they can use a mask. They can do whatever they want.
Also; everyone is so focused on assuming healthy people will be fine just because youre not likely to die, that everyone is overlooking the fact that this can leave you disabled with permanent organ damage. Just because it likely wont kill you doesnt mean it wont cause life long damage.
Most people under the age of 60 will get minor symptoms, many have none (and if you say otherwise you need to prove it). If you are older or have immune system problems you can self isolate, you can be cared for. The sooner the economy is trucking again the more power we have to look after those people.
Also your statement about permanent organ damage is highly misleading, you can get permanent "organ damage" from the flu, from any bacterial infection and many other things. It won't have an impact on your life in the vast majority of cases, what you are talking about is called minor scarring.
Fear mongers will have us in permanent lockdown, they will never want to lift it because there will always be a risk (because everything has a risk). It's about calculating when the risk is at an acceptable level and the doctors and leaders are the ones who do that.
Places that have serious problems, will remain locked down. People that are afraid or have issues, can stay locked down. People who WANT to go back to living their lives should be able to do it if they live in places with health risk is at an acceptable level.
In this lockdown right now, the entire nation can't: see the doctor, goto the dentist, goto a none essential shop, go out more than twice a day, goto the beach, goto work, goto hospital for checkups, hookup, goto hospital for non-essential surgeries, do a lot of stuff that make life worth living.
Again, the GOVERNOR has the final say. NOT TRUMP.
At this point, you really need to stop posting. You have no idea what youre talking about, and it shows.
The lockdown was done off of numbers that were entirely accurate at the time. Want to know why ***is being scaled back? Because social distancing and the lockdown IS WORKING. The numbers arent random, nor set in stone. If people do what they are supposed to, things will go a lot smoother. But that doesnt mean this is over or near over; we already *** up and took too long to start social distancing and stay at home orders, so now this is going to be a real threat for up to a full year.
"This is totally unacceptable to lock down for a year" no its *** not. This isnt the first pandemic, and looking back at previous ones, guess how long the US was crippled for? More than a year. Why? Because people like you decided "we cant shut down, we need to get back up and moving asap!".... which lead to massive resurgences in infection rates and death rates.
"Well where i live..." yeah, if you and others self isolate, you wont get many cases. Thats LITERALLY THE *** POINT. That doesnt mean "Well theres no cases so *I* should not have to!", it means "Continue to do it or you will literally kill people".
Yeah, and if the republican retard governers had their way, they would gladly send you off to the morgue for a few extra donations to their campaign. We literally have multiple pandemics in US history to look back on, and these *** morons cant be arsed to study history at all.
"Well i have the right to freedom!" No, you do not "have the right" to do something that directly puts others at risk. Your freedom ends when it affects others, because they have the same rights as you.
And everyone that doesnt do that is putting the people who take the proper precautions at risk. This isnt you being a moron and risking only your life, this is you risking EVERYONE'S lives. I know multiple people who stayed at home and took the proper precautions, but are now dead because of family members who were exactly like you.
"The economy, oh no the economy!" Open back up and see how the economy does. It will tank immediately. My business is closed currently because of this, but we dont have bills to pay because ***is paused. Open back up, and we will get no business because customers will not show up, and we will now have bills to pay. Every small business in the country will fold the moment you open back up. This is not an exaggeration.
Sure, some will be minor scarring.... but many will be debilitating, as there are already reports of people who were otherwise healthy essentially losing most of their lung capacity in at least one lung.
No, fear mongers arent going to "leave us in permanent lockdown", we literally have multiple pandemics to look back on in history to know what we SHOULD be doing. This is serious, *** treat it as such and shut up. Let the people who know what theyre talking about speak and take your seat in your house and stay there until otherwise told.

Its completely unclear where KN got his numbers from, as SD has over 1,000 cases.

What the hell are you on about you lunatic? We are on a ffxi forum, I'm not making laws. Whatever happens, happens no matter what either of us want.
We are discussing our personal views on it. Does your nurse know you're on the internet again?
Your "personal views" arent your own. Other people think the same way, many have actual power. Not to mention, many who think like you are out there breaking the rules set in place and are putting others at risk by doing so.
This is not about you. No one gives a damn about you or what happens to you. This is about how you, your views, and your actions are putting others at risk regardless of whether or not they chose to take the proper precautions.

This article is a week old, and already obsolete. Fellow Texans, ignore it.
So, today was the first case of the virus being confirmed in my rural county.
This last week has been pretty insane to start. Most grocery stores have been emptied, toilet paper is non existent. Bars, hotels, and casinos have been shutdown as of yesterday, our town relies heavily on these sources of income. There are now rumors that our mine sites will soon be shutdown as well. I plan to withdraw a substantial amount of cash from the bank tomorrow morning, and hit every store I can get my hands on to get some groceries before the hoarding gets any worse.
I have heard of California being on total lockdown, as well of rumors of people even being imprisoned for attempting to leave the state.
Curious to hear how other parts of the country are getting along, surprised there isn't an official Corona-Virus thread here yet.
Crazy stuff.
