When we say gun debate...I'm mostly thinking another school shooting happened.

My sort of gun debate is AK-47 vs MG 42.

Don't buy "stew meat" that's just trimmings they can't sell otherwise. At least buy a cheap sirloin or something and cut it into chunks.

The most rational easy on the gun control debate I have ever read:

A Gun Nut’s Guide to Gun Control That Works

A federal license for possession of semi-automatic firearms could make Americans safer—and more free.

Quote:
I am a gun industry insider, a lifelong gun owner and a vocal advocate for Second Amendment rights. I am a Texan and an American patriot who hauls my family to church every Sunday in a diesel pickup truck, where I sit in the pew and listen to the Word with a 9mm pistol tucked inside the waistband of my fanciest jeans.

Isn't this the part where the author inserts the inevitable “but”—as in, “I’m a firm Second Amendment advocate, but … ”? Well I’ve got no “buts” for you, because I don't need them. I believe there is a way to increase both our individual gun rights and our collective safety, if we can only get gun controllers to quit bitterly clinging to outmoded feature bans and gun registries, and convince gun rights advocates that “liberty” isn’t just about “what's in my gun safe” but also about being able to exercise one’s full spectrum of Second Amendment rights in every part of this great nation.

The idea is simple but powerful: a federally issued license for simple possession of all semi-automatic firearms. This license would allow us to carefully vet civilian access to semi-automatic weapons, while overriding state-specific weapon bans and eliminating some of the federal paperwork that ties specific firearms to specific owners....
It goes on. At great, if sensible, length.
In all seriousness, his idea wouldn't be a bad one, but just like all vetting ideas, the NRA would fight it and win. This is why I hate the NRA; they're bad for guns.

I also kinda laugh at people who "defend the second amendment" because if one side or the other wished to alter or repeal the second amendment, they'd have to go through two or three other amendments to do so. Which brings to mind another question of why not defend those? If government does something to the second amendment alone, we lose our guns, we're all pissed but life goes on. You let them do something to, was it the ninth and fourteenth amendments that protect constitutional rights? You let something happen to those and you have a situation where the Constitution could potentially be dismantled.

So, wear your 2A shirts and your MAGA hats, you aren't doing anything beyond making yourself feel good. It's political masturbation is all it is.

God, I need coffee.

Looks at Canada and the UK, yep they most certainly will remove the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th amendments after the 2nd.

Both of those countries have already started restricting due process, freedom of speech and protection from self incrimination. The reasoning is ALWAYS "for the general good".

Anyhow you have an extremely flawed understanding of the Constitution and it's Amendments if you think it grants us rights. The first ten Amendments don't grant anyone rights, they merely spell out the Natural Rights that were granted to us by our creator. The Amendments define the framework and extent of those Natural Rights, they spell out exactly what the government can not do.

Take the first Amendment.

Quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There is no mention about the US Government granting or endowing that right, it only stimulates how far the US Government can encroach upon it. Those rights were granted by the creator and can not be unilaterally taken away.

Second Amendment.

Quote:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Exact same thing, nothing about a Government granting people these rights, just the limit to which the Government can restrict them.

All of the Amendments read this way, they don't grant a right

Anyway, maybe we shouldn't set up a last line of defense and be done with it, maybe we should protect the Constitution as a whole unless.. unless we could use a break down to our side's benefit as well.

God didn't send his only Glock down from heaven for us to wage holy war. No, guns started out many years ago in China as cannons on sticks. Being that they were Chinese creations, the rest of the world saw flaws in these cannon sticks and decided to improve, being that it's *** China, China started ripping off these improved designs and that's where many SKS carbines come from, caked in cosmoline and cartoon porn.

I really wish I was making a joke on that last part but I've actually seen an SKS with hentai stuck to it at a gun show. No, I didn't buy it.

Disney's Mulan is a good movie to watch about ancient guns and probably the inspiration for several Panda Express menu items.

If the media didn't sensational school shootings no one would be in a state of 24/7 outrage. When black people get killed en mass in Chicago no one gives a ***. Cause it's just gang violence.

No one wants to admit it but part of the appeal of school shooting is all the fame that comes with it. Yes the media should cover it but we don't need week long coverage of school shootings hurricanes and other things that happen often.

People act like Canada is strict on guns or something, I'm pretty sure California is more strict.

"This gun causes ***-cancer, also, 5 rounds at a time and no lead bullets. Suck it and welcome to California, Hipster, Vegan, and Hippy capital of the world!"

And Cliff, if you actually still look at this forum I'm kidding.

I dunno, Girlboymod. Japan makes civilians jump through hoops, including a mandatory mental health evaluation just to get a firearms license, and civilians can't own semiautomatic weapons. Just bolt-action rifles, shotguns, and revolvers.

Yet CJ probably has easy access to a gun...working as intended.
