Well the thing is, if they don't rewrite the shield damage formula, are not all 119 shields now going to give 100% PDT (I mean that not literal 100% pdt but sufficient to zero out any melee attack)
While reducing the need to use actual pdt in gear slots.
Meaning Ochain got dunked on.
Have to wait to see what it actually looks like in practice. But I wonder the odds on a maint to adjust it is.
You also need to consider the block rate though. having 100% block dmg- doesn;t mean all that much when you hardly block.
We have the reprisal update to look at, but we have no idea how potent that's going to be.
Just as a point of reference, pre-update, Priwen had a non reprisal block rate of 10% or so on 139 mobs. Make it 30% with reprisal. Ochain has an 80%~ reprisal up block rate on those same mobs.
For the reprisal update to over turn this difference the skill+ is going to need to be HUGE. And that skill+ is going to benefit Ochain as well until it recapps. Also, there is a lot to be said for having 100% block rate, even if you don't 0 out all dmg on block hits. The stability and lack of spike dmg makes things much safer than mostly getting hit 0, then suddenly taking a full dmg WS when you don't block.
