Dunno if this idea has been put out or not, a bit lazy/irritated this morning to look.
Overbidding. Paying 2x 3x even 20x the price of something because you're tired or distracted. Then the seller won't return the extra Gil, even if you return the item. How many of you have been there?
Well the AH shows previous prices, average them up, then if you bid 2x or higher than that, a popup will appear for confirmation. Telling you that you were bidding 2.5 or even 12.8 times the average prices of <item>, do you wish to continue the purchase.
I don't think it would take too much coding to impliment.
And people like me won't pay 520k for a 25k helm by mistake again.

You get a confirmation option as it is already. Here are some tips: 1) Double check. God damn, what a concept. 2) Don't buy ***when tired/drunk/medicated out of the ***. 3) Slow down when buying something. What's the rush?

Something that I think would be interesting, would be an actual "Auction" system.
Say..
I list an item for 5 days. People bid on the item (as you would on like, eBay). In 5 days, if the item has a successful bid, and has met a reserve price if you included one, then you get the gil from the Buyer, and they get the item.
Would take a lot of working out, like possibly something like
I put item up with a reserve of 35,000 Gil. Bidder bids 25,000 and loses 25k from the Inventory. In 5 days if 25k is the highest bid, then they get 25k returned and I get my item back.
Ex2. I put item up with no reserve. Bidder bids 25,000 and loses 25k from the Inventory. In 5 days if 25k is the highest bid, then they get the item I put up and I get the 25k they bidded.
If I remember right, they have a similar system in FFXI's Tetra Master.

If I remember right, they have a similar system in FFXI's Tetra Master. That is exactly how WoW's Auction House works... Also there is no price history on that AH. For some reason that seems better to me. =Ninja Edit= Well... not exactly how it works, You put an item up on the Auction House for either 12 hour, 1 day, 3 days, etc... You set the starting bid, and also a buy out price (if you choose to have one). So it's pretty much exactly like eBay. Also not saying they should make the game just like WoW, i'm just saying the Auction House works very well. @_@

That's how I though the AH was going to be when I first started this game.

I dunno, FFXI's way seems faster, doesn't it? The only downside is overbidding; I doubt the big issue of undercutting will ever be resolved, unless everything has a fixed price? hahaha....

Having a price history is the best thing about the FFXI AH imo and overbidding is not really a big thing, only people who are dumb enough to not double check do it. I've done it once or twice of course, but I learn from my mistakes and double check each time.

Lol, well anyways--as long as they have an auction house that CAN BE ACCESSED BY THE ADMINS OF FFXIAH.COM, I shall be happy. :D
