Wait til you get a $400 ticket...

Most people aren't afraid to speed, they're afraid to piss away a weeks pay on getting somewhere 15 minutes sooner lol

Oh and before anyone says "Windower is the only way you can use bots" Think again. There were bots before windower and there are bots for PS2 and Failbox I know for sure. Windower rules. I get a better fps, the graphics look smoother, nothing is blurry! Theres hardly any lag, and yea pTP and the xp thing are nice to have. Did anyone mention that the recast timers are also probably the best thing to happen to this game?

Keep believing that buddy. Just don't cry if you get nabbed...

I got a $450 ticket when I was 20 years old, was driving down the highway doing 80-something in a 55. Cop had mercy on me and bumped my speed down to like 79 on the ticket, because 25 over is an automatic arrest, I was the only one on the road, and obviously not impaired. Ticket was for like two hundred something bucks, which was doubled because I was under 21, and also double points, so I had 8 points on my license (max is 12, then it's suspended and you have to attend safe driving school to get it reinstated, which you have to pay for out of pocket, which costs 500 bucks)

9 over or less is usually ok because Cops don't wanna waste the time for such a small ticket (I've worked with ex-cops, and they insist this is usually the case, at least, in the city), but if you're doing 10 or more, you better have a radar detector, open interstates are the BEST places for cops to nab people, because they know that 99% are going on a trip and will NOT wanna come back to fight the ticket. Meaning, automatic payment and they don't have to waste their time going to court.

Anywho, sorry for derail, but you've been lucky. You don't have to believe me, but if you think you won't get pulled over on the interstate, you're crazy lol

To help you out here, you can hire a lawyer to attend your court date. What he will do is push the date back and back until the cop that pulled you over can't attend, at which point you get out of your ticket. Will cost you around $300, but this keeps the ticket off of your record as well. ^^

Edit: You still pay for the ticket though.

Eh, I'll just not speed too fast and depend on some other device to keep me ticket free. Radar ain't infallible, is illegal in some places, and the incessant beeping and chirping whenever you're in a city is SOOOOO *** annoying.

I think the lesson we can take away from all this is:

If you want to try the Windower, just *** try it. The only thing that comes of these threads is a melodramatic pissing contest between people that use it, and the people that think it's tantamount to botting.

Yes, it is against the TOS, but it does not alter the functionality of the game mechanics and the general opinion is that S/E and the GMs generally do not care unless you are going out of your way to break the game with it. This is generally not a concern to ordinary people since the Windower and its plugins are designed with attention paid to not breaking the TOS any more than what they have already done in creating the program.

Case in point: I have previously asked the Windower devs about why they have not released a plugin to remove the 29fps cap on the game. Their response was that it essentially boiled down to "overclocking the game" which is the equivalent of a speed hack, which they will not include in a release of the Windower.

You can listen to asshats and forum trolls like me and Ryezen fire attacks at each other over the internet until the sun burns out, but you must ultimately make your own decision. Download it, try it, and if you're still on the fence just delete it.

I don't use it, mostly because I don't see any need to use it. Plus all I see on the site are 'game crashes if ...'. I don't know how common it is but nobody wants to play with someone who keeps getting DC'ed. Especially if you're a Bard or Scholar.

Most of the things it does I don't consider cheating. It's just adding in what SE fails to provide themselves. Both EQ2 and WoW freely provide in-game some of the features that Windower offers. If you really wanted to, you could keep track of XP /hr and Recast timers yourself.

With some of the plugins available, I would call the the people who use it 'Advantage Players' though. Just like people who have a method/system for winning in Las Vegas. They're not cheating, they just have an advantage over others who don't use it.

Windower rocks.
Timestamp for nm's dying while afk.
Recast so knowing exactly when Utsu, stun, sleep, bp's, etc are up.
Awesome windowed mode. 1st come 1st serve. And its still better.
TParty when everyone has it there's none of this SAM TP >>120%<< nonsense.
More macro lines. please if your tp and ws macro's are enough to fit in 6 lines then ...nevermind.
Distance great for casting 2 songs on 4 party members, 2 others on the remaining 2. Max range for nuking. Range for ra's. Knowing exactly how far from a mob you need to be so it doesnt Sound agro you.
REAL screenshots who wants to use pen and paper or notepad.exe to write something down that someone tells you. 2600 ws damage?!?! epeen+1 baby!

Yes i prefer windower over ff's windowed. The features they provide are bad *** and aren't really hurting anyone. Just making it easier on the user to play. Another example of speeding. If going 12 mph over the limit doesnt cause you to get into a wreck or anyone else, then quit fussin bc I do it. If you're in the left lane on the interstate going the speedlimit well I think I will run you over... If you want to complain about windower, stop, go camp some HNMs. When you dont get claim bc of bots now thats something to complain about. Better hope your other ls mates are CHEATING

SE just banned a fair number of people with gardening mule accounts. That's $28.95/month an account (assuming that all 16 slots were used). Plenty of people who gardened on 6+ mules on their sole account were banned as well. Those account could easily be worth $20/month each.

I seriously doubt it would ever happen, but I know it's not outside the realm of possibility for SE to ban all the Windower users they can detect.

You can get banned for using mules to garden? I didn't know that.

I was getting worried, I have 10 pots on my main and 10 pots on my mule. I don't want to get banned just for growing some Tarutaru Rice.

I'm just geussing that SE's take on it is pretty much the same take a Casino operator would have to letting people bring their own deck of cards to the Blackjack table, or their own marbles to the Roulette wheel. You can't be upset with them if they decide to suspend/ban you from their "game" for electing to do that, and you can't deny that in doing so, you were knowingly undermining the game's rules... Umm, oh yeah, cheating. =P

That's close, but it's more like counting cards at the Blackjack table. Can't prove it without the party admitting to it, but the house doesn't like it cause it's money lost. Same goes for windower, can't prove they are using it unless they admit to it.

To the OP:

Pro's-
Improved graphics, framerate, etc.
Slightly less lag
If you use a controller on your PC (I have a PS2 - PC converter on both my desktops), you can still control the game while out of focus. Handy while using a wiki map or researching while chocoing.
Also, if you are dualboxing (another pro), the controller will actually switch to the active window. Very nice to know.
Plug-ins. I do not advocate the use of all of them, but they're mostly harmless. I like the recast timers and the XP tracking. (recast needs to be updated for new abilities. WHM Solace JA isn't recognized, though not a big deal)

Con's:
It's technically against the ToS and you can be banned for it.

The fear of banning has caused me to use the windower sparingly. The fear has lowered over the years as more people use it.

---

Also, my two cents on the cheating thing. I don't think it's cheating unless you use bots or something else to automate game actions or giving yourself an obvious advantage.

As I said above, windower is mostly harmless. XP tracking? That can be manually tracked, but is tedious. No harm in it. Recast timers? Same. No harm in it.

BUT I do acknowledge that it is against the ToS. I know that there is a VERY small chance of getting banned (I believe your chance only increases with the more advanced plugins).

Trust me, I struggled with myself for days while researching before coming to my moral conclusions.
