voltsurge/orunmila/psycloth lappas are all fairly accessible and better options for fc, and amalric doublet can be obtained fairly easily as well- i've 3 boxed it geo blm sch with 3 trusts in a couple of minutes.
Also I did tests versus NQ amalric and found that amalric feet/body are pointless for death compared to my Merlinic Jubbah with 26 MAB/7MB and crackows with 30MAB/10MB for my alt.
Also Mephitas's Ring (+1) is better than Mujin Band, supposedly (and I think would make more sense than switching Seshaw +1 out for Bane Cape)
That being said, now the precast/idle sets need to be amended to account for the extra 110 MP. Here's what I went with
Don't have Etiolation Earring, I forgot it existed until the other day. 2057 MP ItemSet 340343
It's important to note that just using those sets alone can possibly still reduce your MP due to the order in which they are equipped. This can be avoided by setting up priority on which gear gets swapped first(the order the gear is listed has no influence and what's swapped first/last)
Example of a precast using priority to maintain 2122 MP(you'd need to do this for idle/precast/midcast):
I'm going to try and work on updating some of this guide on my next day off work. I don't have the newer gear for my blm yet to test it all, but I'm sure if i screw something up one of you will kindly correct me. xD

Perhaps you could entrust 1-2 people with access to your BLM node so there are more people updating it, hell I'd recommend that for every guide really.

It adds to the base value of the spells cast. High tier spells have such a high base damage already its not good unless you're using really only tier 1.
100 base damage + 10 magic damage is a 10% increase for a theoretical tier 1
1000 base damage + 10 magic damage is a 1% increase for a theoretical tier 5
I'm more than happy to provide input and help answer anything, but in terms of keeping a guide updated and current, I'm already failing at that task quite miserably with the WAR guide ;_;
Priority on AF, Relic, and Empy to 119? I have AF coat to 119, now looking for the next. AF feet? Relic gloves, Empy legs? Or is everything basically out-classed now? Maybe some niche enfeeb/dark?
@Forsake I'll send some itemsets your way when I get home tonight to use for the guide, and whoever can amend any mistakes I've made or items I've over looked
On page 22 I put sets for precast and normal nuking if you want to use them.. Best in slot could be some of the HQ abjuration pieces but the set I posted is easy for a casual player to procure. I will post my myrkr set as well when i have a few minutes.
Have a spectrum of free nuke and magic bursts sets- obviously they aren't absolutes if you don't have all the pieces, just a guideline. I may have gotten some of the lower quality sets wrong so feel free to correct me if I over looked better alternatives. Explanations for each set can be found on the itemset page itself.
HQ: Access to all the best pieces in the game
NQ: Access to all endgame content pre-Reisenjima T3
Standard: Access to everything pre-Ru'Aun T3
Low Quality: Have dabbled a bit in Ru'Aun (i.e. Warders/T1s) but nothing past that.
Edit: if someone wants to do lower quality sets, I would be very grateful because I will probably kill myself making like 7 tiers of sets for every situation
jesus christ that is a cluster *** even with tables. feel free to use what you want for the OP and then i'll clean out whatever is not used afterwards.
So I’ve never written a guide and I don’t claim to be an expert, but I wanted to try and write out a guide for Black Mage. I’ve always really enjoyed the job and it is one of the jobs that (sadly) didn’t have a guide for it until now.
I will try and keep this updated as much as I can. Gear wise, I will try to keep a low/mid/high tier sets up.
As I am only human, there may be mistakes within this guide or changes that may need to be made. Feel free to send me a PM, reply, discuss, debate, make suggestions, etc. I will add and change things as needed.
