I think theres a phone based authenticator you can use?
I would definitely unlink the token before that battery dies and you're locked out. Even if you can change the battery, whats to say it doesnt reset something internally to default and you still get locked out.
Marsyas and Daurdabla ok, but Ghorn? I bet you could pretend having Ghorn and the large majority of people wouldn't notice that you don't.
Marsyas is useful, but not required. HM is not necessary to reach haste cap. Longer lullaby is nice, but not really necessary unless the mob requires nitro to be slept.
G horn is too valuable, especially for how cheap and easy it is to obtain. HM isn't required to cap haste, it just adds acc/atk which is why it's preferred.
It would be very difficult to clear high-vengeance ody NMs with -2 minutes on your songs, and would gimp yourself quite significantly on most other content as well (Sortie, Dynamis, etc.)
There's no way relic's +1 songs is more valuable than a whole *** song.
Sure honor march is "just acc and atk" but the difference between SV HMarch and SV VMarch, both of which cap haste with haste spell is 464 attack and 116 accuracy. This is not insignificant at all. Even with just Marcato, it's a significant boost to acc/atk.

Song +4, and you may still be correct but it depends on what your needs are. Attack and accuracy are not insignificant, but they're also not always necessary.

Linos can give songs+3, so the Gjalla is giving +1 over what you could otherwise have.

I attribute higher value to G Horn in part because it's so easily obtained. Rolling max augmented Linos is bad for your wallet and your sanity.
As someone whos tried to augment Linos with something decent on other chars so my primary bard can get ML's on other jobs...I agree with the above statement.
You're likely to spend just as much on Snowdim+1/2 as you would on a Gjallarhorn, and that presumes your server has a steady stock of Snowdim+1/2. Thats not even factoring in the mind numbing time investment of there being no addon like MAGA for Divainy-Gamainy, as far as I know. You're gonna be doing all those trades and all those confirmations manually. Anyone saying "just get Linos All Songs+3 no biggie" have absolutely no idea just how rare All Songs +3 Linos are. Getting All Songs +2 is already rare enough as is. I'd go so far as to say that an All Songs +3 augment on Linos is "I got a Cats Eye during the macrocosmic orb campaign" epic ultra rare.
Linos do have +1 song before augments so you'd only need +2 aug to achieve +3 total, but it's still that rare.
I've never heard of anyone getting Cat's Eye from anything but past Mog Bonanzas. I thought all the reports of them being obtained from gobbie box and campaigns were myths.
Does anyone know Shockwave's AOE range/target limit? Been farming Arch Dynamis Lord tonight, and regularly fighting upwards of 20~ demons, and I've been able to sleep pretty much all of them, and I've seen it sleep like five~six demons shoulder to shoulder but also behind me.

Not sure there's a limit though you could probably test in Abyssea. The AoE radiates from your target, so its essentially like horde lullaby from BRD. I'm terrible at guessing(I'd say 12ish), but if you use the menu to select the weaponskill, you'll see the range indicator prior to target confirmation.
If you're going to spend 150m and 12 hours farming a Daurdabla, you can probably spend 30m and 3 hours farming a Ghorn.
Ok, here's my random question: I have never farmed Daurdabla parts before but I was under the impression it takes a LOT more than 12 hours to get them all, especially for a first-timer. Like 2-3x as long as that. Was I mislead or is this hyperbole?
Apademak KI doesn't appear in large amber chests so you're forced to farm 10-15 min respawn just to get the item to pop the mob you still need to proc for the KI. You could spend 12 hours on this step alone, even if you get a few fragments from small amber chests.
Maybe 12 hours if you run back and forth to AH buying pops to make KI.

Wut?
Songs+3 on Linos doesn't exist (and it would be as strong as a Gjallarhorn if it did). It was a myth some trollers invented over these boards?
Song+2 augments instead exist (total Song+3, since there's a Song+1 static bonus on Linos) and it's not particularly expensive or rare to get?
I mean sure there's the luck component but we're talking about a random aug out of 8 possible augs, that aug that has two possible values: +1 and +2, that's it. It's very good odds compared to most other alluvion augs?
That's what I was talking about.
A Linos with +2 song augs (+3 total) is a pretty decent compromise for a new BRD. Most people will never notice that you don't have Gjallarhorn.
Then, once you already started playing BRD and you're having fun and you already have Marsyas and Daurdabla, if you find out you have some excess Gil, then at that point you can go and get a Ghorn, which is pretty cheap and fast to get.
This is what I meant. As cheap as Ghorn is, it's not free.
And someone with limited resourcers starting on BRD will have to set some priorities on where to focus their limited money.
Ghorn shouldn't be the first priority imho, because Linos exists.
snowdim+1/+2 prices have come down a great deal since they first came out due to being flooded almost every month in campaigns and login rewards/pells
It's extremely easy and cheap to get +3 flutes now
Even if the stones are cheap, you're still standing there trading stones for a lot longer than it would take you to round up the relic items. I think I'd take the extra cost as tax for 1 more + song and avoiding carpal.
any ideas on how i go about getting/switching to a different one?
I'd recommend Google Authenticator. I was expecting it to be a whole process, but it was honestly pretty straightforward.
I've used this for a while with SE and it works great, I use it for a lot of other things and didn't want to deal with yet another (of like 5 i already have to use) 2FA app.
I'm somewhat shocked the old physical tokens still run, I figured those would've died off years ago.
What cracks me up is that FFXI had 2FA options years before my bank did.

Currently, three types of One-Time Passwords are available to use for Square Enix accounts: Software Authenticator Apps, Square Enix Security Tokens (Key Ring Type), and Square Enix Software Tokens. The Square Enix Software Token application for smartphones is scheduled to be discontinued after 2024.
As a preliminary first step, new registrations for Square Enix Software Tokens will close on Monday, November 20th, 2023. Implementation of the closure for new registrations will be on Monday November 20th, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (PST).
After the period for new registrations has ended, you will no longer be able to select the "Software Token (smartphone application)" option when setting a One-Time Password in the Square Enix Account Management System. Please use either a Software Authenticator or Square Enix Security Token (Key Ring Type).
Customers who are using a Square Enix Software Token at the time new registrations are closed will be able to continue using it until the end of the service, but please consider switching to an authenticator app or Square Enix Security Token. The exact date for the end of service will be announced as soon as it is determined.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
So i guess the SE app token will be gone soon. Leaving an outside software authenticator (google/Microsoft) or you can buy a new key-chain token. Which surprised me. I didnt know they still sold those.
SO what happens if youre using a google/microsoft authenticator off your phone and you lose/break/or phone is stolen? It was mentioned earlier to change off the token before the battery dies because you need the one time password to get into the SE management site to change it... would the same hold true for the authenticator app? Or can you jsut dl it on another device with the same account and be good?
