This is my "starter"(I say starter because it's my ideal set, I start with this then branch off with little tweaks to it depending on the other person) set of what I'm using right now on NIN vs most good mages:

Depending on how the other person fights I'll switch some slots for other pieces of gear:
Legs: Sangoma Lappa(More INT)
Feet: Nin. Kyahan +1(More INT/Movement), Spagyric Nails(Resist Silence)
Waist: Sanctuary Obi +1(INT)
Head: Kog. Hatsuburi(Enhances Ninjutsu DMG)

I feel like the neck piece could probably be changed to something better, but don't really have any ideas besides Twilight, or Orochi Nodowa +1.

Any ideas on stuff I might of missed?

EDIT: Katanas are INT/MAB. I just finished a Sekka+3 with Lowers Mag.def.+15, but haven't been able to use it yet. I also have a Tsukumo augmented with ensilence.

You should get a resist silence +3 diamond ring from vunkerl, and +3 resist petrify earring from vunkerl.

Do you think there is a difference in resist rate between +1 peiste mantle and NQ, and do you ever slot in the Peiste belt +1

I really need to go get 2 diamond rings with resist silence +3, just been too lazy lol. Which earring would I switch for that one? I would assume Arete Del Sol.

I have no idea, probably not, I just like white boxes. I don't have a Peiste Belt, but I've been looking for one on and off. I could see stacking resist petra vs RDM/DRK/BLM being really helpful. My main goal was to stack as much Resist Silence because that's the real killer from what I've seen.

What about say, is the resist silence on a garralous ring equal to the potency on a icesoul ring?

Same going for unfettered ring vs stormsoul.

Do you think every 'enhance' item is equal?

I did some searching around in the past; never found anything about it though.

Personally I would say no, but I honestly have absolutely no idea.

It is hard to say, I'm honestly leaning towards they are equivalent, and each adds a % chance with the +3 being = 30%.

Maybe the best idea is just to wear the highest level item possible.

if it was me,I would try to wear that same element resist +. at least you know earth+10 vs earth+50 resist will help boost resisting rate more, for slow petrify nukes etc

Magic accuracy is so high with the absurd level skills can achieve, that + elemental gear has become mostly useless as opposed to how powerful it was at 75cap.

Looking around on wiki, no item shows Resist Gravity on the "Potential Augments" list from abyssea Gold Sturdy Pyxis.

Tower Shield: Resist Charm 1~5, Silence 1~4, Petrified 1~5
Demon Ring: Resist Bind 1~?, Blind 1~3, Curse 1~?
Rasetsu Jinpachi: Resist Virus 1~5, Curse 1~2
Light Earring: Resist Bind 0~3, Blind 0~3, Poison 0~3, Stun 0~3
Diamond Ring: Resist Silence 1~3

EDIT: The list was taken from wiki so stuff could be wrong/off.

I could take my uber gimp RDM-WHM mule with me to brenner and try to test it. Sadly all of the skills on that character are soooo low I think Upbeat would resist every silence even without resist gear. That and I don't know the first thing about testing something like that correctly.

Hopefully, I don't even know how one would go about testing something like this.

Spamming silence on someone with no resist silence, then after x-number of casts put on a piece of resist gear count the resists/time off and just keep doing that?

Don't think it didn't occur to me. lol. Not sure if I have the points to reserve diorama though.

How to go about this depends on what exactly you want to test.

Resist traits do 2 things. Offer the chance of a full resist, preventing the status from landing at all(You get the Resist! msg when this happens.)

And reduce the duration of the effect.

If your just wanting the rate of full resists, testing is fairly simple. Just cast over and over(assuming the status overwrites or is gone when you cast) and record the number of Resist! messages.

Testing duration gets a bit more involved. If you have low skill, your gonna get partial resists and lowered durations anyway. Which makes finding the duration reduction from the resist gear more difficult.

It also takes alot longer, as you have to let the status wear off every cast.

There's also the matter of what gear to test. Augmented gear should be pretty simple. Just test pieces of various values. +1, +2 etc. then we can reasonably assume all augmented Gear with that +value has the same potency.

For gear without a given value.. its kinda up in the air. We could test one, then assume others have the same potency... But... SE isn't very consistent about these things. If you ever seen how wildly the potency stuff like Enhances Fast cast effect or Enhances Double Attack effect varies... it's probably not a good idea to assume anything.

Might wanna get a list of gear that needs testing on here.

Another thought... It might be a good idea to test the actual traits themselves. Like the resist rate for /sch, etc.

I dunno if/when I'll get to testing any of this though.

@Ragnarok.Martel For complete resists how many casts do you think would need to be done for each piece of equipment to get an accurate reading? 100, 200, 500, 1,000?

Official Matches, matches that are already set up by the server with a level cap.
If you enter and win you get EXP(And gil I think), but no one ever does them; They just take up time slots at brenner more than anything. lol

[2)People who only do PvE suck,

I've done PvP before, but XI's PvP system is utterly terrible. Yes, it's fun, but the job balance is so skewed it's *** ridiculous. Saying people who don't PvP suck is really foolish--if we wanted to play a game in which our PvE-earned gear is used for more than just standing around in Port Jeuno, we'd be playing WoW or Rift or something.

Yes I actually would like to play WoW or Rift, but present company isn't interested. /shrug
