any new npc'isb gil fish in the new areas.
something that can compete with black soel ( for none ebius owners) or haks (for ebisu owners) ?
By MaieuticOne 2013-08-30 14:20:19
There is fish like haks that npc the same flux 2 [A] Vunkerl on the bridge using meatballs for Kokuryu, [A] Misareaux flux 8 using trout balls for Soryu and another in [A] Altepa flux 6 at the pond, forgot its name though since i never tried it because of NM there. All of those will npc the same as Hakuryu. As for bite rates ive found Soryu to be the best. I have Fishing 110+7 and Ebisu, dont have much trouble fishing in at all. The only downside is is the music in abyssea i find it hypnotic while fishing :/

Just tried trading Remora to Zaldon and he didn't accept them.
Also tried the Yawning Catfish. Maybe a new npc in SoA area?

Looks like they'll be adding fishing accessories in the March update:
Greetings,
The development would definitely like to add quests for both synthesis and fishing, but at the moment they would like to prioritize other tasks.
In the March version update we have a bunch of fishing-related content planned. First, as previously announced we will be revamping the fishing system. We’ll also be adding fishing objectives to Records of Eminence and you’ll be able to obtain some nice fishing accessories. These objectives have been planned to be casual in nature, so even if you are just starting out as a young fisher, you’ll be able to enjoy it. However, in the future we will be adding even more objectives that should pique the interest of our hardcore fishers!

I'm currently trying to fish up a Takitaro for Fish Ranking and failing miserably.
My skill is 92 and I was standing in the exact same spot I saw someone else fishing for it (J-11, Davoi). As far as I know I even had the same equipment (Lu Shangs and Fly Lure). I didn't exactly keep count on my tries, but I was there nearly an hour.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is my skill to low?

That sounds right, the best spot is Davoi at J-11 w/ fly lure.. You haven't caught any at all ?

You can also catch them with a sinking minnow in Abby Mis Coast, flux 5 and go by the base of the waterfall.
By Heimdel 2014-03-14 08:47:51
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Takitaro It sounds like you were doing it right though i'm not sure what it means by cascade. It might just been bad luck.

Also, just to those who don't know, the best place i've found for sure for looking anything fishing is Kida's Database.

Has anyoned fished since the update, wondering if linebreaks got any better. I still have 3stacks of dwarfpugils for matsyas i gave up on them some time ago, because of the insane linebreaks. (ebisu+capped skill+all items)

I can't comment on linebreaks but playing with the new system...I freaking love it. I quit a few years ago when I got 100/Ebisu, just got bored of it. This new system is SO FUN! It's all fast paced and not as obnoxious as it used to be. "Everyone gets their own pool of fish to draw from, instead of a set # in the whole zone/pool." I really like it and may start fishing daily again.
Interesting note. I just got 2,000 guild points from completing RoE Catch 30 large fish.
Edit: And 3,000 GP for completing fish up 10 monsters. o.o
2,000 GP for Multiple Rusted Objects. (All of these GP only for 1st completion.)

Whoah, what? Where did you hear this? That would be pretty neato.
I haven't fished in quite a while, but I may try and get 110 if this new system freshens things up.
By the way, for those wanting the Duck Ring, you will need to do the RoE for fishing that requires you to enter the fish ranking contest. As soon as you trade the fish in, you get the ring; you do not need to win or otherwise wait for the fish ranking contest to be over.

They are repeatable but you only get the GP 1x I thought? Only did the small fish upto now and you get 2k GP for 1st and then don't get it again after.

is the changes to fishing really that bad?
There are fishing topics that come up now and then but mainly are asking a question for a single answer. I know there are many fishers that visit these forums so this is an attempt to get people involved and have a little fun discussing one and only one thing, fishing!
I know Blue Gartr has a Fishing topic already, but I would like to see this community get involved a little bit and talk, since not everyone visits BG. I would love to have a topic just for fishers including veteran fishers, casual fishers, and even players just starting out and want to ask a few questions without being embarrassed about starting a whole topic for a simple answer they could not find.
I only ask that you keep any bot talk to a minimum, preferably none. [Moderator edit: No bot talk] I want this to be a place where we can discuss anything from GP items of the day to what lure/bait to use or what area is best. A quick mention of how you're doing on the lu shang/ebisu quest, how you're doing getting your fishing items from Grounds of Valor, that item you're saving your GP up for, or how much you wish you could hurt Zaldon for not finding anything in your fish for the 10,000th time. Your lucky moment streaks and the moments when you have nothing come your way and question why you started fishing in the first place. Anything that comes to mind, think of it as the random thoughts thread for fishing.
I will list a few resources that I find to be useful when it comes to fishing: BG Fishing Topic
Great Blue (Amazing Site <3, is out dated since 2008 but an amazing resource regardless)
Final Fishing (Another great resource with one of the most in-depth guides made. Out of date though.)
Fish Size Chart [ GE][ Wikia]
Chenon Diary (The site seems to be down for good though, it was a site made for Fish Ranking)
I shall add more if people provide good resources.
