Magic haste

It was MA haste at the start, nowadays it is JA haste they changed it months ago, easily tested with recast time.

So either way, worth using.

So because I'm stubborn, adjusted STP in my set and re-ran things through spreadsheet.

My 52 STP 22% Haste

vs.

25 STP 26% Haste

Same WS set STP10/6 (strap is Rose when with set 1, Sword with set 2)-

1st set + Haste DPS 130.593
w/ March x2/Samba DPS 265.605

2nd set + Haste DPS 131.348
w/ March x2/Samba DPS 252.315

Now it is late in the day, work's been rough and my mind is on fire. Thoughts?

In the 5 hit trade Centaurus out for unkai earring and then add bullwhip?

When I finally get my hand on rose strap that will be my 5 hit set-up instead of goading/pole.

Heh, spreadsheet doesn't have Bushi in it ; ;

Also really can't speak for how well spreadsheet calculates certain things.

Why does the 6-hit have Unkai Sugemino?

Also, you should be comparing optimal builds.

In other words, this for 6-hit:

Regain Earring (or lolCarbonara) could lose the Unkai Earring/White Tathlum. VV in Abyssea would 6-hit without them as well. You could also Dusk Gloves +1 to switch to Centaurus/Thew, losing the Zanshin.

If it's inside Abyssea or with a Regain earring, you aren't losing anything though.

I was more or less comparing regular more obtainable builds, more something I could work towards since I no longer really do hardcore end-game stuff.

I tend to shy away from building comparison sets around Fazheluo Radiant Mail because it's a total crapshoot as to whether you'll get one or not even if you spam Voidwatch. If you have one then sure, it's worth experimenting with, but for most people it's fairly unrealistic still.

Think he means, to really get the full effect (I.E not changing gear etc you'd need atleast 10 MP merits to keep the latent up full time. (assuming you don't get MP down/aspir'd, etc.)

no, I'm a hume, but if you really have no use for the mp merits (who the hell needs to build max mp) then why not get hp? HP merits weigh heavy in abyssea, and have saved my life on quite a few occasions, actually.

Just because it's a more demanding/unrealistic build due to the nature of requirement of 10 MP merits and Voidwatch Body, doesn't change the fact that it's optimal damage wise. I do understand what you guys are saying, though.

Virtu, serious question... Isn't all this 6 v 5 hit builds crap really only applicable to abyssea, due to the TP overflow on sam in aby with a 6 hit? I mean really, you're not gonna have 25% trips (or 25% ANYTHING really) outside of aby on sam, even with /war....

No. The most recent assessments are in regard to the Hasso update, and are completely independent of the TA bonuses in Abyssea.

TP overflow still happens a bit if you're using Hasso. Even in a more realistic 6-hit without Ganesha's/Voidwatch Set/Oneiros, you're still looking at 18% Double Attack rate, as well as Hasso Zanshin occasionally making you hit twice, the second hit usually with 15 extra TP (5/5 Ikishoten merits.)

I'm almost positive that under high haste situations, having 3% extra Haste, -3% delay from Sword Strap, and better overall melee stats is winning out vs. shaving off one hit on your TP phase that may not even matter due to overflow.

As I stated earlier, I highly support both builds. Just like everything in FFXI, ***is situational and it boils down to your buffs and what gear you can get your hands on. I personally like 5-hit because of how synchronized it is with Meditate ticks, as I stated before as well.

Yeah, I 5 hit my current GK (TP Bonus+100) and I like that it syncs with meditate ticks so easily. I'm 4/5 ikishoten myself (i did that at 75 cap and people called me crazy for not getting blade bash lol) 5/5 is a bit overkill i think, and i like being able to occasionally shikkikoyo my empy WS partners.

Introducing additional JA delay to a job that's already plagued by it is a terrible idea, especially when the person you're giving TP to is subject to just as much TP overflow as you are. There's no such thing as 'overkill' Ikishoten(and it was a terrible decision before the update, you were crazy).

Shikikoyo was great when prepping for a zerg.

Assuming you didn't have all sams or /sams that is.

Which we didn't.

Back in the day ofc.

I think it was kinda irrelevant for any of our SAMs to have blade bash, because the brobot would have been stunning it regardless. We had like one misfire in the 2 years we used it.

If you're going with that route, ya lose aces mufflers, stick with dusk +1 swap to cent/thew, dont use VV, use A&O, never use regain earring, use TP bonus earring(unless you have a relic weapon that you love).

Justice Torque, Byrnie+1 or any of the Faz body pieces, Centaurus earring, Strigoi ring or another Pyrosoul ring(dont need rajas for 6hit), and unkai mantle. Everything else looks solid.
