I really hope Terra Nova improves because it has some ridiculous plot holes and terrible characters at the moment :/ The daughter could be replaced by a pet and the story wouldn't change much at all and the whole
story that Taylor told Shannon about the one-armed guy seems like a lie because he'd be coming through a different portal than the one they use for pilgrimages and everyone would wonder why the *** he's there and what happened to Taylor since it's not like he can go back (portal only goes one way at the moment). Killing Taylor would just *** everything up when they could have just had him come through on a pilgrimage and take over the colony without arousing suspicion. I really hope it's a lie and not terrible writing.
Is it worth watching? It's on Fox, so I doubt it will last long.
the one armed guy necessitates a seperate portal. so I don't see a plot hole. Even if that were the case the only people who would nessecarily know would be Shannon and the one armed guy.. Worm holes are a tricky business, even if they really do exist, not inconceivable that anyone would doubt he appeared 20 feet away (which send him through a couple days early just to make contact then have him wait in the bushes as everyone else comes through)
The problem is that they only send people through on scheduled pilgrimages, not randomly in the middle of the night. People would figure out that they could send people through at any time then and let's be honest, no one would trust the guy if he just killed Taylor (who has been the commander for years) and took his place, no matter what kinda lie he'd think up. Like we saw in the pilot it looks like the portal is in a specific spot and doesn't move, they even built the big building around the one in 2149. It's a tear in space and not a wormhole (like in Stargate) from what I remember and I don't think those can just be moved around wherever we want :X I still think Taylor was lying or that it's just shitty writing.
His son has found a way to make that portal go both ways, which people on the other side claimed is impossible, even those brilliant scientists (not all can be bought off) that alone speaks for it's unstability, and what is a tear in space if not a worm hole? That's basically the very definition of a worm hole, it's a tear in space that connects two points, whether it be distance or time, or both..
I mean if it's just fixed, how can they talk to 2149? The portal doesn't open in Sixer camp.. I'm telling you at the very least the end point is not fixed, maybe the entry point is, but the end point cannot be, or the sixers would not be able to get a message through.

The science of Terra Nova is pretty HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE anyway so I'm just gonna hope that they explain it better later on. Apparently they said matter can only travel one way but somehow they can communicate with 2149 when the portal is open. There are a lot of things that don't make sense at all (no EMP protection when they used EMP weapons in the future iirc) and you just kinda have to suspend your disbelief.
The last thing I'm not going to try and debate, I just say there are not real major plot holes because they can be explained pretty easily when you let your mind wander.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
