Upping the score count for a star player is another.
Come to think of it the Seahawks blew a superbowl trying that.

I think the Seahawks blew the Superbowl because they forgot how they got there...
The NFL ate your lunch vid clip.

tl;dw
Marshawn Lynch breaking 9 tackles.

Regarding the Superbowl, the Seahawks had 1st and goal with Lynch in their backfield but decided to pass the ball on every down. Very unfootball. My brain still itches to this day.

That was SO unfootball that even I, a sports ignorer, knew how stupid it was.

Here on the street, people yelled more with Paraguay's goal than Brazil itself.

That is how much we despise Germany.

Too bad Japan lost, but Germany losing and Morocco winning made up for it.

Also, didn't we have a football/World Cup thread?

There is a joke here: if it was me the Brazil coach, I would have Casemiro sub out and Martinelli would NOT sub in.

And that is why Ancelotti is 5 times UCL champion while Im at subway at 6am heading to work...

He's 67. You have 30 years to catch up and be Brazil's coach in.. WC2054 or 2058 (100 years after Pele's debut!)

That kinda made me realize that the next World Cup in 2030 will be the 100-year anniversary of the first WC.

I was in my mid-20s when I started posting here, so it is easy to lose track of time.

The lack of foresight, impulsivity, main character syndrome, humiliation fetish, etc. I guess that his references and presence here indicate someone older, but the maturity definitely doesn't.

If I'm reading that properly, that makes them born in 2005, 3 years after the games release.

feels like is a wonderful place to visit/live
Multiple major cities are turning into homeless tent cities (Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal). Its getting bad enough, theyre no longer living off the beaten path, theyre setting up camps right in the parks.
Surrey had an issue with extortions a few months ago, Calgary has an active extortion crisis.
Daily shootings from a country that is supposed to have strict gun control, kinda like Chicago.
Weekly major drug busts at the border.
TW: political comment. Our govt just imposed multiple bills that turn us into a surveillance state

I guess were just a bit less poor and colder Brazil

The country has long been seeping into ***. Home ownership is still out of reach while immigration is outpacing red tape on building - both of which need to go away for a while. Our healthcare system is overloaded. Carney is another joke. Don’t get me started with my mayor Olivia. I took the TTC and there was a broken crack pipe on some seats. Smelled like piss and ***in there… because it was there. Not a statistically safe space to commute.

Then there’s is the overall dive in safety on our streets due to immigration from 3rd world countries with cave man values:

My female friend was gang raped by 4 Somalians who didn’t speak English (obligatory: “NOT ALL!”) - but, statistical occurrences we don’t need to roll the dice on with immigration from broken countries. My visibly gay friend was approached, harassed and circled like prey and got called slurs from a group of Haitian men for simply walking down the street while minding his own business. There’s been an uptick in that too - fun!

My Jewish friend has her mental health in the gutter and she now has to hide her Star of David necklace or not wear it. It’s *** that she has to do that too with the rise of anti-semitism (wear it with pride.) My male Jewish friend has also gotten awfully quiet at parties and is more reserved and I have to try and pull him out of his secluded shell.

All issues Europe and America are facing are happening here, too.

Then there is the economy spiraling downhill. AI is going to take much of our white collar jobs first and there’s going to be a multi-years long gap before that’s solved. That’s going to be ugly on the human race.

Anyway, I’ll continue to vote for Pierre just as I did for the last 2 random guys and Harper prior to them, even though I think Pierre is too unlikable to make it past the home stretch.

That’s my random thought and what’s on my mind. Im cheering for Spain and Canada in the World Cup. I’m going for a smoke.

P.s. Don’t censor me. Using free speech to advocate for liberty and security shouldn’t be viewed as “political” just because the subject matter takes place in political atmosphere. Dubbing things as political is far too often being used a disguised censorship tactic for “shut up.”

I want to retire before 40 if I can. That gives me... *checks math*... 3 days.

Hmm.

So, uh, anyone interested in joining my pyramid scheme real quick?

If they are happy to throw money for some virtual currency like gil, they should be more than happy in funding our retirement.

Why retire at 40. What are you planning to do with your time if you retire?

XI and fun times with hand? Didn't we do that enough in our teens?

I'm not much older than this. I'd retire in a heartbeat to focus on riding bikes and making knives or doing whatever I want regardless of whether it makes money or not. I just made a stupid choice a decade ago and will be digging out for too long.

I spent most of my career working way too much and am just burned out. I like the work I do but I'm just...exhausted. I spent way too much time caring way too much and it's taken a toll.

If you can't find things to do with your free time, it's not really a work problem. Having a really hard time seeing the pros in 'work until you die'.

Ofc, it's still silly to retire without a meaningful plan for covering your financial needs. It also doesn't really sound like what Panta is describing would be called retiring by anyone else, more like going solo.

If you're not employed and just "working for yourself" doing bits and bobs, you're just unemployed.

Imo there is enjoyment in liking what you do and being passionate about it. Case in point I could in theory retire and able to live off investments, but I like to work, and I'd be bored without it.

I have taken a year or so off work. It gets old fast.

Being self employed has just as many, if not more, issues as being employed by someone else. I think a lot of people go in thinking it's going to solve problems that are actually far worse.
