feels like is a wonderful place to visit/live
Multiple major cities are turning into homeless tent cities (Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal). Its getting bad enough, theyre no longer living off the beaten path, theyre setting up camps right in the parks.
Surrey had an issue with extortions a few months ago, Calgary has an active extortion crisis.
Daily shootings from a country that is supposed to have strict gun control, kinda like Chicago.
Weekly major drug busts at the border.
TW: political comment. Our govt just imposed multiple bills that turn us into a surveillance state
I guess were just a bit less poor and colder Brazil
The country has long been seeping into ***. Home ownership is still out of reach while immigration is outpacing red tape on building - both of which need to go away for a while. Our healthcare system is overloaded. Carney is another joke. Don’t get me started with my mayor Olivia. I took the TTC and there was a broken crack pipe on some seats. Smelled like piss and ***in there… because it was there. Not a statistically safe space to commute.
Then there’s is the overall dive in safety on our streets due to immigration from 3rd world countries with cave man values:
My female friend was gang raped by 4 Somalians who didn’t speak English (obligatory: “NOT ALL!”) - but, statistical occurrences we don’t need to roll the dice on with immigration from broken countries. My visibly gay friend was approached, harassed and circled like prey and got called slurs from a group of Haitian men for simply walking down the street while minding his own business. There’s been an uptick in that too - fun!
My Jewish friend has her mental health in the gutter and she now has to hide her Star of David necklace or not wear it. It’s *** that she has to do that too with the rise of anti-semitism (wear it with pride.) My male Jewish friend has also gotten awfully quiet at parties and is more reserved and I have to try and pull him out of his secluded shell.
All issues Europe and America are facing are happening here, too.
Then there is the economy spiraling downhill. AI is going to take much of our white collar jobs first and there’s going to be a multi-years long gap before that’s solved. That’s going to be ugly on the human race.
Anyway, I’ll continue to vote for Pierre just as I did for the last 2 random guys and Harper prior to them, even though I think Pierre is too unlikable to make it past the home stretch.
That’s my random thought and what’s on my mind. Im cheering for Spain and Canada in the World Cup. I’m going for a smoke.
P.s. Don’t censor me. Using free speech to advocate for liberty and security shouldn’t be viewed as “political” just because the subject matter takes place in political atmosphere. Dubbing things as political is far too often being used a disguised censorship tactic for “shut up.”
