Kind of cool to see SE actually doing a campaign for xi off of the xiv raid:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/campaign/eov_discount/
they even actually posted in a place people might see it not just on the playonline site.

Google, while useful, is nobody's friend.
But considering the lawsuits over the years, perhaps google is a lawyer's friend.

Only the first 30 day. I hope you are satisfied now pay a full price.
By Pantafernando 2025-02-07 11:06:49
30 days is a scam
Before you play 30 days you are already over the limits imposed by free to play and need a full subscription before the end of the trial

I don't pick friends based on moral, I pick friends based on if they provide certain value to me.
So until Google fail to provide the value, Google is my friend. ;)

Thats a very weird definition of friendship

What's the definition of friendship for you then?
I am really curious.
Edit: when I said value, I meant both monetary value and emotional value, not just monetary. I don't think my definition is too different from most adults lol.

Google is my overlord. I just wish they'd stop canning useful projects.
Sprint Google Fi integration (even before tmobile buyout, but I think this was on Sprint's side).
Google Domains (this was annoying).
list goes on but those were the 2 major ones I recall...

11.99 x 6 for the base fee to exist
1.00 x 6 for each account's single character
so most of us paid 77.94 a month

Food for thought if you romanticize the past 100 years at all and how times have changed. Sorry Chanti I didnt know it was so recent.

There were many things that were wonderful about the midcentury. This was not one of them.

Naturally a friend is anyone who you can establish a healthy relationship with. And by healthy relationships, its a balanced relationship where the other is on same lv as you so neither side depend on other, or expect something in return.
Edit: when I said value, I meant both monetary value and emotional value, not just monetary. I don't think my definition is too different from most adults lol.
Now this is not what i would call healthy relationship. Relying on someone, expecting something from someone are red flags of an unbalanced relationship, where one of the two will need to invest more, and the other with benefit more from it.
Yeah, I agree most “adults” would think thats a definition of friendship. But that also explain how this world is soo poor regarding relationships.
So until Google fail to provide the value, Google is my friend. ;)
And this pretty much sum up my definition of unhealthy / unbalanced relationship.

Relying on someone, expecting something from someone are red flags of an unbalanced relationship This statement is objectively wrong. That is the component of plenty of good relationships and marriages, both parties relying on each other to work together and improve both their lives together etc

I agree with the first part but not the second. A "balanced" relationship to me means both sides offer something in return. Even if that value is emotional.
However, if only one side is offering an emotional value, but the other side isn't offering the same, then the relationship will broke, because it's not balanced.
I agree that if you set your expectations low then it's easier to maintain it since it's easier to be satisfied this way. But setting the expectations low isn't the same as zero.
It's super unrealistic to offer unlimited emotional value and expect nothing all the time. It doesn't work that way, and that's how relationship ended up being unbalanced.
And this pretty much sum up my definition of unhealthy / unbalanced relationship
That sums up with the nature of human relationship at all. Why would you want to be friend with someone that wouldn't return at least some emotional value? The world is large, people's time is limited. Why would anyone waste time on someone who can't offer at least some value when they can spend their time on someone else instead?
You are speaking from a totally unrealistic pov Panta.

Maybe we are both biased when you live a happy life where you can relying and be relied on without it becoming a burden.
Maybe its me who is sick of being relied on, and in return only receiving more compromises, more troubles, more pain.
Maybe Im wrong, and i dont want to convince anyone Im right. But playing the “good martiage” card as an argument doesnt really convince me either. Simply because Ive seem more bad marriages than good ones in my life. My parents are divorced since i was 3, to begin with. Both sides just found new partners who were clearly subpar to them.

Your life experience explains why your opinion on relationship is twisted imo.
If you don't like to be relied on, maybe that's because you aren't getting anything in return. So it's "unbalanced" relationship because you receive nothing of value on your end.
(And since you believe a relationship shouldn't expect return, you probably wouldn't even notice the core problem yourself, let alone fix/end them when necessary.)
Your parents divorced, but clearly their new partner offered certain value that their old partner can't provide, no matter how "subpar" they are in your eyes.
If you can't see nor analyze the value of each relationship objectively from both sides, you can quickly get into a situation that you feel like wasting time and mentally draining. It's not healthy.
As for my relationship with Google, I see it as mutual benefit. Google needs my data for better business, I use data from Google to improve business decision. It's a win win situation that both provided something useful to each other and making money together. This is the meaning of balanced relationship in my eyes.

This is exactly why it's so much work to maintain a healthy relationship. Most people can't handle that ultimate level of compromise and sacrifice that the final form of a relationship, marriage, brings. They have your mindset instead and just default to severely unhealthy behavior when faced with a genuine relationship. For a plethora of reasons, including the ones you posed.
If two people are completely independent like you theorize, they aren't in a relationship. They just happily move through their lives without each other and grow and experience day to day without needing that companionship from each other. But once they both get lonely or need to vent etc they can turn to each other or other friends and have those needs met. Becoming either a healthy relationship together if they can both handle it, or an unhealthy relationship like you described having.
I had the same personality you described for years; I couldnt handle relying on anyone and I knew "well statistically I am going to die way the *** earlier in life without friends or a safety net for emergencies but I don't care, I want to be alone and refuse to rely on anyone." and refused to put any effort into maintaining any healthy relationships etc

Congratulations on becoming an adult ;)
Here is a good life example Panta!
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
