I mean if anything I'd want to see more repeat offenders/previously banned/etc. individuals punished at the same level tbh. Only so much leeway should be afforded to those who already did something to earn a permaban.
It's a balancing act, because the community is only so large, and isn't exactly primed for growth; if someone truly brings nothing to the table, then sure, they gotta go. But some of the recidivist types have a redeeming value or two, which makes the "Do I prune that tree?" question a little murkier.
We're all pretending to be vague, but it really comes down to a single one person.

Yeah I get that, I like Spicy when he isn't being a drunk rambling x or y, because he is genuinely helpful to the community. But there's only so many times his antics can possibly be overlooked by moderation and I for one can't really fault anyone for doing their job properly.
As far as Carrot is concerned she knew what she was doing when she allowed Spicy to access her account to bypass his bans. When you place yourself in the line of fire you expect to take some shots.

Sort of. This specific incident is obviously Spicy, but there are probably a half dozen people that occasionally fall into the "Just how much trouble are they really worth?" series of questions.
I mostly try to err on the side of caution there, occasionally to my detriment.
Anyway, now that the arbitrary 5k post count is past: I'm good, Josi. Nothing exciting to report, though ;)
this was a fun game, managed to get it for 9.99 during a holiday season.
make a character, obey/break laws, hunt giant alien-ish monsters.
sort of a mix of Phantasy Star / Monster Hunter / attack on titan ?
I love this game! I haven't gotten far because I kinda suck and got sidetracked with God Eater (VERY SIMILAR).
I love the stupid laws and how you end up accidentally breaking them all the time.
You got your license to run for more than 5 steps at a time! WOOP WOOP WOOP Ticket for running more than 10 steps at a time! 1,000 years added to sentence!
I'm gonna try to see it as an admin(as I've been one for over a decade).
Depending on the situation you may/may not tolerate the presence or return of someone previously banned, it definetely goes case by case, depending on how much they personally annoyed me and what the ban reasons were to begin with...
Now if someone were to use a non banned user account with their consent, that's pretty slippery. Again it might depend on the person as above, and one might be willing to close an eye on that, as long as this doesn't cause any further disruption(because it is not reasonable to tell someone who they can hang out with irl).
If however this starts raising problems, then there might come a direct request to the non banned person to not allow it anymore, or at the very least pretend it isn't happening, because otherwise they'd be implicated with the consequences.
Now to get more specific, it is my understanding that it was well known you were using Carrot's account as it was pretty overt and nobody seemed to care much. So I can only suppose it fell into the known and tolerated category.
As for the last straw...while pm harassment can be ground for sanctions, I really don't see why that would have to fall upon Carrot herself. I know I probably missed a lot of backroom drama as I've been told about this from third people, but still I don't think permabanning Carrot made any sense at all.
p.s. the most aggravating thing to me is that CENSORED isn't permabanned, more than anyone who is.
although I wasn't around when the drama happened(these things always happen while I sleep...)
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
