First take of last night:

- temenos 9 characters, 9 drop
- Apollyon 5 characters, 4 drop

Some people were 4/4 for the day.

Waiting on Amarok data input, but yeah real high but not 100%.

One of the dumbest things in the game from a new player / returnee perspective is the Ilevel system.

I quit in 2012-3 and was gone for 4 years or so, I came back and they added all the new stuff. I was really casual, only intended to finish Rhapsodies and then quit again.

I got stuck on the last Rhapsodies boss and so had to engage with progression to beat it (ironically, if someone had beaten that boss for me I probably would have quit), I got parts of AF/Relic/Emp to the first "good stage" and tried again (109) and got destroyed even harder. The game effectively punished me for engaging with progression with gear that looked better (due to job boosts etc) but was worse than the sparks gear I had on, especially in how much it weakened my trusts.

Many players would probably quit here, cause the game punishes you for putting tens of hours into progression with worse gear and you don't even know why.

I read up on why this was the case, and saw that Ilevel directly leveled up/down your trusts etc and so did Ambuscade to get the proper 119 gear.

It's wild to me they still have not changed this over 9+ years later, at bare minimum the first stage of af/relic/emp gear should be 117 and not 109.

The final fight is supposed to be the conclusion of the story at the highest ilvl. Would make no sense to be able to beat it wearing i109 gear. Also, starting ilvl af/relic/empy shouldn't be an issue at as its quite easy to get all 3 of those sets to 119. If people came back to the game and could easily beat the final tvr boss wearing whatever, youre right, they'd quit if all they cared about storyline and SE doesn't want people to quit, they want $12.95 a month from you.

I read it as all of the listed campaigns will be active during both phases.

There are no campaigns listed, that's what Jakey's saying.

I think a lot of event schedules are built around working individuals (most get started in the evenings 8:30pm EST / PST based on time zone).

If you’re a full time employee it’s great. If you’re earlier in your life cycle (a student) I’ve found other MMORPGs offer easier casual exercises due the ability to find a group @10am or 4am. Whereas ironically being unavailable at 8pm due to night classes.

So I think ‘casual time’ for XI = working casual. Not ‘student casual’.

The Ru'Aun Gardens warps that auto-warp you to the next point when you step on them.
This is good but you lose to option to "pick" the floor (which honestly I would gladly lose) and you also lose the option to exit.
Which, I remind you, you can do on any floor and not just the last.

It would be a compromise. Someone would love it I'm sure and it's easy to see why, some others would hate it and complain.
By Akumasama on 2025-09-29 05:40:51
I don't find the menu interaction being SUCH a major problem. Granted I don't want to defend it either.

The biggest issue I've had with that is with people using it too early/too late, meaning they get different credit and so you need to ask every party member in a PUG "did you get the floor completition temp item yes/no?"

This could be solved by adding a new way to handle this ccontent, where the party leader is the one that brings people up/down and when he does so, the whole party is ported up.
Would they even be able to implement this technically? I guess it would solve this issue but it would create issues for situations where someone crashes or DCs, I suppose...

lol what is the point in a 7 day campaign.

■ Phase 1
Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Thursday, October 23, at 7:59 a.m.

■ Phase 2
Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Tuesday, November 4, at 6:59 a.m. (PST)

2 weeks on
1 week off
1 week on

crackhead ***. Just run it 3 weeks like usual. Dumb *** reinventing the wheel.

Call me stupid, but do they not even list which campaigns start/end on which phases? They just have them listed....

I read it as all of the listed campaigns will be active during both phases.
By Eiryl on 2025-09-29 05:20:15
Can only assume they want 2 week blocks with some break inbetween for metrics reasons.

And then because vanabout is going to start the 6th, the have to do a short 2nd campaign.

But it's just asinine. Push bout back a week and do 2/1/2 or just run 3 full weeks.
By Akumasama on 2025-09-29 04:54:23
In the past I thought they were opting for shorter campaigns for those they deemed "too good" to be lasting the whole period of time, but now I'm a bit puzzled about it, honestly.

It isn't a popup add. Its a necessary step. It may pop up but you can't click it away. Addblock won't stop it.

uBlock origin, like Kaffy said, will block these and all "gimme your email" popups like it.

I never even knew there was such a popup on that site.

Make sure you enable all the "unfuck me" settings in ublock, to stop the anti-anti-anti-adblocks.

Don't worry about it.

In SE's defense, what we players usually do not always understand, is that it can be challenging to create content that is engaging but not frustrating, that it's fun, makes people want to participate in it, but at the same time doesn't offer TOO MUCH rewards or players are able to get everything they want in 2 weeks and then forget about the event.
And it's even harder to do without creating blatant gating that more often than not end up annoying the users.

Now imagine achieving this, which is already a very hard goal, with a team of 3 people who aren't even working full time on FFXI.

...Yeah, it's hard, very hard.
And considering how convoluted maybe but very nice, smart, smooth and thoghtful their "gating" system for Limbus is, it's kind of a shame that they didn't manage to nail it -for now- with the attractiveness of the gear or anything else the content has to offer.
It's really a shame, they did so many things right with this content it truly deserves more.

Omega/Ultima are incoming, I'm not sure they will provide enough motivation, but hopefully they will adjust other things too when they add those. I expect them to arrive before the end of the year at a wild guess?

I quit for 6 years but came back 2 months ago with a twist, I started new character to play with friends that are on bahamut, leaving my valefor ones still inactive.

My personal feeling is that if anyone returns to the game / picks it up for the first time, just take your time with it.

There is a lot of ways to skip gear progression or get carried these days, but I personally am savoring incremental progression with fresh character, doing stuff with my friends and enjoying the struggle gearing ourselves and working through all the content again.
Just killed my 1st Ghatjot the other night with hightier battlefield/ambu gear, it was fun, im enjoying the small victories heh.

Casual to me personally is not caring if i'm capped on imprimaturs, omen Ki's, etc for a day or two cause im not in the mood to do that content.

This game can still devour every free moment of your time if you allow it, but its enjoyable at a slow pace in small time chunks if you want to savor the journey instead of trying to be at 'endgame'

Statistically, many and many returning players I came across hardly stayed for long, but I think consistently they spend like 2 months playing before quitting.

The engagement curve generally starts pretty high, with returning players really engaged to do missions, to do those contents that were before impossible to get, to have jobs they never could lvl before, grab some mid gear.

During the first weeks, every day is a new thing as the returning player isnt involved in routine tasks yet.

But as they progress, eventually they will be trapped in the routine cycles of doing ambuscade, old dyna for money, exping/capacity points, etc. at that point, their interest start decreasing progressively, till they finally lose interest and move on.

Still, this is somewhere a 1-2 months of playing, what if you ask me, it is still more playing time that average non online game, so it is still a solid option if you want to play something in your free time.

Maybe only not worth if you decide to “complete” the game. Then you gonna need to be prepared to face the worst of what this game has to offer (extensive grinding, unproductive hours of playing, lack of resouces and gear, etc) then it could be pretty frustrating if you dont have the right mindset.

on FFXIAH you're mostly asking RMT and mercs (dealers).

[Citation needed]

I think of the regular posters on FFXIAH, a single-digit number of them are mercs and RMTs.

Even among those who are mercs, do you think this clouds their vision so much that they aren't giving an honest opinion? How much do you think their lives revolve around their merc "business"? Have you considered that mercs might actually enjoy the game and have positive things to say about it, regardless of how it affects their "business"?

I think very close to 0, if not 0, posts on this site are motivated by "commercial interests".
By Akumasama on 2025-09-29 01:19:57
If anything they need to spice up the content a bit, making it more "interesting", making so people are more willing to take part in it.
Over the last few weeks it's been increasingly harder to get people to participate in PUGs and that's no bueno for the content, imho.

Not blaming people who are not interested of course, which is why I'm hoping SE will do something about it.

I don't think any of the special trust as Brygid or Moogle are really needed, just good to have, better than nothing; I will probably try with the same trust setup as the WAR and see how it goes now that I am able to hold hate better.
I don't know how much sense Sylvie (UC) would make, according to wiki
She'll most likely use macc and refresh buffs, you didn't seem to have macc issues and MP sustain on RDM usually isn't a big issue either. Maybe you could get her to use her MATT buff by engaging a enemy right outside the boss room so you could benefit the first few minutes of the fight from it but afterwards she's pretty much just a backup cure and poison remover.

WAR is using koru moru primarily for Dia III and Haste II, maybe refresh for trusts which you can all provide yourself on RDM, he can't poisona either so it would be a wasted slot outside of backup curing.

Star Sybil provides a constant 19 macc/matt without needing attention for poison removal or getting cured. Majority of your damage looks to be magic so she should be a solid pick.

When Cornelia becomes available again you could consider switching her out for Ulmia (she doesn't -na while joachim does) and maybe switch Joachim for Ygnas. Ygnas would be backup cure while staying out of range, poisona and he occasionally does
Although I don't know if the enlight would overwrite/can be reoverwritten by your enstone.

Other nations do not pay tariffs. Consumers pay tariffs.
This is wrong, but its also right.

The importer pays the tariff, but the importer also passes that buck to the consumer. However, if the importer fails to sell what they paid a tariff on, then the importer is the one paying the tariff.

This is technically the correct answer. However, this lead to a very interesting problem: since the tariff is being overturned in the US, the government would have to pay it back. What do you think is going to happen?

I guess since the importer is taking the risk, he will be pocketing that extra cash from selling overpriced imported Labubus.
