Congrats on Carn. Picking up Carn early, you skipped a slight pain point of seeing what casting songs without it is like.

Without it and using a single Kali, that top duration sets caps song duration at around a little over 9 minutes. Making the need to essentially reapply songs twice within a 10m time period to avoid your songs from falling.

With Carn you get a boost to duration and efficiency for applying songs once within a 11m period (Nitro to Nitro) without sacrificing any potency.
By Wotasu on 2025-10-05 11:04:23
The thread starter claimed +4 feet increased song duration over +3, they didn't have Carn,

If you want the -dt since you're using Alabaster, you can swap in DRing and Murky ring since Stikinis does nothing for song duration. Same for the waist. At least for buff songs, debuff songs are another thing.

Talking about sights of FFXI much, I remember first time I read about JJK Nanami's technique.

As soon as he explained it, I thought:

"oh, then he has fulltime Mighty Strikes. That would be kinda broken in FFXI".

You're responding in the wrong thread Male.

All this bluster about gatekeeping 'new accounts/players', well it really affects all of us.

FFS - i've been playing since release (a five year break recently but still) - and I am only now just getting to finishing Coalitions to Legendary (5/6 atm). Why? because I was just kind of doing them casually before when I remembered, and previously did not want Idris/Epeo.

Well, on coming back I decided I would go GEO over BRD, and saw Ignas as a decent WHM trust.

Well well well... looky here, a 6 month time-gate for someone who has put 18 years into this game. Yeah, thanks SE.

Even though this change will barely affect me, cos i'll be 95% done before it comes in. I am happy that SE are removing silly things to let people just do the content at the pace they want to, without frankly really dumb time gates.

If it lets more people enjoy the game, and removes one of the many, many, many frustrating arbitrary locks, great! I don't care if I did it the 'hard way', I'm happy for people being able to enjoy more of what they want, and get the digital trinkets they want to get.

I would rather get it done and out of the way than have to wait the full 6 months of slow burn.
So you can use your 6 months farming Sortie every day instead, to get close to the 8mils Galli you need.
Did I guess it right?!

I would rather get it done and out of the way than have to wait the full 6 months of slow burn. Its like watching grass grow. At least this way we all have the option to take it slow rather than just turn and burn it out.

One hour seems fine. That's 56 days from 0 to done for somebody doing 15 per day, or 35 days for anyone willing to log in and spend a few before going to work or school. You can also refund imps as long as the assignment is incomplete, so once you have a coalition done you can quickly dump extra into those ops and cancel them for a fresh 15 on demand.

The cordons have always been useless because most require you to be nearly done; By the time you can get them, you don't really need them anymore.

I always noticed Jinpu doing unusually high spike damage at 75 cap.

Not really a bug per se, but it seems like the API is returning an "error" if a specific NM has been reported on that floor already.

If the report was received, it might be better to log that silently(if at all), rather than surfacing a bright red error to the user, regardless of what you do with that report on the back end.

I do think there's value in updating stale timestamps whenever an NM is spotted to indicate it has not been killed, as not everyone killing NM's will be using the addon.

What's to say any of the hybrids are intentional and not mistakes.

The WS descriptions for all the GKT hybrid WS say "elemental". Is that the mistake or is them all being hybrids the mistake.

Has been my thought for awhile, moreso if they were always this way or the big WS change from back in adoulin did this as i dont recall hybrids ever being brought up until around the rhapsodies/dyna period

Addition of Geomancer and using magic buffs like storms/threnody, Nyame/WSD gear/traits, iLvl gear like Ninja jse2, and elemental weaknesses that really only became a thing during Adoulin, since there are no native monsters prior to Adoulin that actually take additional elemental damage specifically (think it's limited to umbrils and maybe another type). There were also a couple of Ambuscades where enemies took extra magical damage that could be exploited with hybrid, but it required being geared well. They were probably always a thing, but the game never used the word hybrid, and nobody had the gear to check the damage calculation, so it was assumed to just be magical damage.

New to DNC, I'm Twash/cento until I can make a S3. Is it correct that I can rudra every boss except A/E?(shark bite) I'm sure this information is out there but I cannot find it for the life of me and every post seems to just say ruthless stroke BIS.

The problem isn't with the specific weaponskill, it's with elemental damage.

A/E rages when it takes water damage. This can come in the form of a water spell, water "additional damage" on hits like using enwater or a Hebo's Spear, or skillchain damage that's water aligned (Reverberation, Distortion, Darkness).

The danger behind "Don't use Rudra's on A/E" is because Rudra's applies Distortion and Darkness properties, which means that if there's a bunch of people weaponskilling on it, there's a chance you will hit either darkness -> darkness creating a darkness skillchain, or fragmentation (from savage blade, black halo, etc) -> distortion, creating distortion. Because of the number of people who just default to fragmentation as a "no chain" alternative to planning skillchains, this injects danger.

To actively prevent accidentally raging the boss, you want to avoid using weaponskills with reverberation, distortion, or darkness properties so you don't close with a skillchain doing water damage. For dagger this means don't use: Shadowstitch, Mercy Stroke, Rudra's Storm, Pyrrhic Kleos, and Mordant Rime.

If you were intentionally skillchaining, you could absolutely use Rudra's in a controlled setting. Starting a skillchain with Rudra's Storm and then moving into something with Fusion will create Fusion (fire, light), and then you can extend the chain with Fragmentation (thunder, wind) to make light, or with gravitation (single-element dark, earth) to make gravitation, although you need to be keenly aware of the skillchain windows to make sure starting the next one with Rudra's doesn't close darkness off of the gravitation.

You could also use rudra's if everyone was coordinating their weaponskills to ensure none of them chained by firing them near-simultaneously, before the skillchain window opens.

These two options are typically frowned upon, though, because the added damage you'll get from using Rudra's over a "safe" weaponskill doesn't outweigh the risk of a pissed off lizard one-shotting your party.

More Idris and Epeolatry is always welcome. I don't know what the problem is. Time gating this ***made no sense to begin with, other than to prolong content.

I've mentioned it before but my group was killing Aminon (including HM) for months without using Idris because our GEO had his weapons locked. We didn't even realize it for a while.

People should be pointing new players at 900 skill, not an idris. You really don't have to enslave yourself to the game to be successful and you don't need it tomorrow.
By maletaru on 2025-10-04 17:37:54
Let's say this potential character is on Asura, here's what it costs to get a REMA BRD:

Marsyas: 25m (I'm shocked to hear it's this low, but let's say it's true)
Gjallarhorn: 60m
Daurdabla: 87m
Carnwenhan: 143m (or 223m if you want AG) (or 277m if you want R15)
Moonbow Whistle +1: 25m

Plus Altana knows what other gear like Stikini rings, Moonlight rings, a +2 Neck, etc.

So this new player is going to casually ***out 340m, plus spend all the time doing the 50k beads, all the trials for all these weapons & instruments, plus *** of other gear...quickly? Where is a new player going to get 350m in "a couple of months"?

...Meanwhile, our GEO friend is at 75% potency on day 3 at the grand cost of like...10m?

I'm sure there are still elitists who will tell you to *** off without an Idris, because they're idiots, but objectively speaking from the perspective of the stats being offered by the job, GEO is way better off much earlier than a BRD with a similar budget of time/gil.

I've mentioned it before but my group was killing Aminon (including HM) for months without using Idris because our GEO had his weapons locked. We didn't even realize it for a while.

You will notice an instant and extremely obvious difference if your BRD is missing any/all of the items listed above. I mean, I guess if you have all but 1 of them it won't be so bad (depending which one), but at that point you're already several hundred million in so I'm not sure there's a strong argument to be made there...
