Aggro is not the same as being on the enmity list. They need to perform a hostile action towards the monster, but it can be indirect (healing a person who IS on the hate list). So GEO who aggros everything still needs to tag for offensive Geomancy to take effect.

Something i was wondering
If the GEO was the Fisherman and aggro everything
Would they still need to Dispelga / Curaga?
As soon as someone else claims/Lullaby the mob he aggroed but didnt tag, the bubble would have 0 effect.

Also it would be nice if BRD got in on the action and did Savage Blade
But a lot just want to sing only
It is what it is
By the time all the mobs trickle in and are slept, the group can be nearly done with the floor anyways, especially so if you're hitting five 9s on every WS. More often than not the BRD only has time to engage and perform a couple WS max before it's time to sleep everything again and go up.

I'm also a BST
I would try BRD/BST/COR/GEO/RDM/SAM

The two pets that interest me would be either
Swooping Zhivago or Generous Arthur

The GEO is running Geo-Malaise
Maybe those pets might be able to give Tachi: Jinpu and Leaden Salute

Better consistency than what it already is
If it turns every WS into 99999 damage
Hell ya

If BST magic WS is meh
They could swap to Savage Blade

Like Sechs said
I don't have an issue with RDM
Have seen some doing 50K+ Savage Blades

The only issue last week was with the other SAM
Going to use Masamune as an example

Have no issue with them doing Tachi: Fudo to get AM
Than switching to Tachi: Jinpu
That's what you should be doing

Also it would be nice if BRD got in on the action and did Savage Blade
But a lot just want to sing only
It is what it is

In those cases I would like to see them go BRD/SCH
Windstorm > SAM
Sublimation FTW

For all you chocobo diggers out there, do your lvling up in the past zones during vanabout, I got all 4 bottled pixies in one days worth of stamina in rolanberry fields (S)
Keep in mind you need your own chocobo mount to do this because rental chocobos can't dig in the past.

For the Something Fishy quest, if you have the Blast from the Past quest active you'll need to finish that before you can trade Tokaka to complete Something Fishy. Nothing hard, just have to go hit a ??? in Maze of Shakrami to pop an NM with a 100% drop to turn in.

I will even grant it for the sake of getting back to your original point (because these are all besides the point). It still doesn't make what you said about depth true. Odyssey Gaol may not have the replay value, but it is loaded with depth. Limbus has practically no depth at all, but is loaded with endless replay value.

One other thing I've noticed is that younger people do not have the ability to understand sarcasm. Being a child of the 80s and 90s, literally every form of entertainment was just full of sarcastic stuff and we just learned how to read the inflections. People now have such a problem understanding basic human communication, sarcasm just does not compute with them at all.
Where is Mad magazine now that a new generation, or several generations, really needs it?

Or perhaps we need a hand signal like air quotes to signal sarcasm to those raised on the internet.

Hi team, thanks for all the work! I'm here to report on trying out the dev branch (v 4.7.9.1) today:

- The POL speed and no-throttle advanced settings are awesome!

- The game crashes entirely when getting to character select. Sometimes it's immediately after clicking "Select Character", others it's right after the characters appear on the screen. I tried around ~8 times with both the Large Address toggle on and off. That didn't make a difference but I suspect it to be related as the timing coincides with the game's first attempt at rendering character models.

This doesn't seem to be producing a new crash.log so I'm not sure where to dig for further details but figured I'd surface this at least.

Again, appreciate all the work! Would be happy to help debug this further of course :)

do you have a Patreon or anything where people can donate to make updates more worth your time and effort? I think quite a few people would love to reward the time, effort and love that you have put into this.

Thank you! I haven't set up any monetization, partly due to concerns about DMCA / C&D takedowns, and partly because I can't guarantee any future updates (since it's something I can only work on in my free time).

Fortunately, I haven't exceeded Cloudflare's free-tier, so hosting hasn't cost me anything :)

2 more alts for a total of 4/4 went 1/1 on Runeic stuff immediately after attaining initial doctor status. Anyone get doctor and NOT go 1/1 on a Runeic thingy?

Let's say I hate myself and want to do Flawless Technique with 0 crafting leveled. What's the simplest/cheapest item/craft to shoot for?

Grilled Corn worked for me on alts with no craft skill. It still might take a while.

I'm Cooking 110 with all the shiny things you can get for it except the shield and on the lvl 2 roast corn recipe I just went NQ, HQ, break, NQ, HQ. Yes, tiers are a thing, yes it's still going to be annoying regardless. Just power through it, it'll be done before you know it.

My brother in christ, Trove isnt content. It is the closest thing to a Gacha game SE will put in FFXI.
By Valafar on 2026-03-24 11:10:40
I'd assume a desynth recipe, since those have much higher HQ (and failure) rates than others.

You would think they would add two tiers of these, once you get a certain amount of points it unlocks the 2nd tier of objectives (that a lot of people wouldn't even reach).

This way the casual people and the hardcore ones chasing leaderboards would do different daily objectives and not cause so much congestion to each other.
By Dalight on 2026-03-24 10:19:21
Day 4 Objectives:

- Jingly (Play Mancala Mandragora Mania once)
- A Flawless Technique (HQ Synth twice)
- Stock and Awe (Complete any Stock and Awe Campaign Op once)
- A Star is Born (Complete a BCNM40, uses a Star Orb)
- Something Fishy (Give Tokaka in Port Windurst [C-8] 1 Bastore Sardine. You can buy this from your Green Thumb Moogle if you have Rank 3 Monster Rearing unlocked)

I've had 0 issues trading for eggs. Have also been given eggs, and gave away eggs.

If you really need a specific letter you can't find (likely F, E, or S), party up with someone with those letters in the first two characters of their name and talk to the moogle and you are guaranteed the letters. Or do AIR and just get the objective done.

Talking to other people in an MMO does seem like a foreign concept these days.

Anyway, dailies for today:

A Star is Born (Star orb BCNM)
A Flawless Technique (Synth a HQ item)
Jingly
Something Fishy (trade a bastore sardine)
Stock and Awe

Which is once again the player base being Goldilocks. This task is too easy! This task is too hard!

If it was
Check your dbox 1/1 589374895 plaudits
Change zones 1/1 534895897345 plaudits
Get signet 1/1 492349023498 plaudits

People would be like "ThIS iS tOo EaSy! WhY aRe We ReWArdINg Case +1 FoR ThIs?!"

Yet something takes a bit of effort and it's like "Nope. *** this game."

The eggs thing is more annoying than anything. I'm sure in their minds it was "People will trade them, bringing peace and harmony to Easter" and instead it's like "I got a vowel egg, ***! 5897395 gil per!"

What is not working about the filters? (this is usually "user error" when it comes to like filtering SPs because they work in a very unexpected way)

Jokes aside, I came back to the game 2 months ago by now and joined/organized sporadical v25 sessions already. You know how many times 1 "helper with kill" joined us? only once (and *** it up), otherwise none.
I had the same exact experience, and can we blame these people? Imho no.
As someone who has a couple of V25 kills, the few times I've been asked to join a group to help them get the win (thing that I've done plenty of times) I've been very reluctant, depending on several factors:

1) Which job do they need me as? Do I have enough EP buffer? Because there's gonna be a lot of deaths
2) Do I still need RP from that V25?
3) You need lotsa Segments to participate. Some people have gazillions and that's not an issue for them, but many other people are starving for segments and need them for themselves, can't "waste" them on other people
4) Most of the times it's not a matter of joining 1-2 runs and getting those people a win. Those strategies, at least some of them, are very complex and don't allow a large margin for errors. It's gonna take many, many, many runs for everybody to learn what they have to do. Even you yourself, maybe you've done the fight 2 years ago and you barely remember how to correctly do things. A lot of times something goes wrong (you fail) and you don't exactly understand what caused it. It's not always easy to see where the error was and who did it, and that only makes it more complicated for a party "leader" to fix it on the successive try

So, yeah. Those fights, at least some of them, can something truly incredible to experience.
But sometimes you just can't be bothered and I can't blame people who don't want to. You hardly have any incentives to do so once you're done getting RP.

I never went out my way to cap RP on all sets, there's still some I haven't finished, for this reason tbh. I'm sitting on a lot of segments I'll probably never get to spend. I felt like if I capped everything, I'd kill any incentive I'd have to ever want to do these fights again, even though I can solo triple farm RP (this part is ultra boring to be honest).

I don't blame people for not wanting to do the fights or repeat them because they're hard. Some people don't like hard fights, see Matter Trials. So I get it. Most players get what they want and they are out. The sense of team grouping and accomplishing a common goal is non existent in FFXI anymore. Gaol forced you to play with other coordinated players for your win, which is why pugging is atrocious. And most players didn't like having to bash their heads against a wall repeatedly until they finally got it.

This is why SE shifted to this open world Limbus nonsense. Everyone can do it, everyone gets wins, everyone's happy right? Nope. You either get engaging content that challenges you like hell to three point you hate your life, you're running through purple hallways for 30-60 minutes for 5 months to glow fuscia, or you're running and killing trash for a key to open a box 10x a week. No in between. Fun.

That said, Timers could and should really be ported to an addon, so everyone can contribute to it. It's one of the few remaining plugins that actually can be converted to an addon. It's just that no one wanted to put the effort in so far...

If anyone here wants to take a crack at it, feel free to do it.

They don't have to spill every single detail, but at least give us some info here & there would be apreciated.

Seriously. I assume it's a points thing. Some number of points for objective like all quests in bastok or max fame in area, or whatever, with x points for rank 2, 2x points for rank 3, etc.

The question is what are points given for and what are the tiers for level up?
