If you arise in CN you are going to have a bad time lol. The problem is many times you are forced to HP, that being said I'd trade 50k Exemplar points for a bonus chest.

I think EP loss is a problem for a lot of people here, although that's just speculation. I know some friends of mine will not go in there on their best jobs because they don't want to lose EP on their high ML jobs. I don't blame them really. I also don't want to go down there on my PLD that's close to ML40 especially with how DT and defense seems to be useless on these NMs. So I go into those things on a job that is less useful. I know the grace reduces EP loss by 46% (at least on my server) but when you're in the millions of EP it still sucks.
FWIW, if you're ML39 and get a R3 or Arise when you die: you will lose 654 EP per death, so I don't think you're at risk of losing too many MLs.

Whats the difference between this and Gaze add-on ?
Hey Dane, I didn't know of Gaze before you mentioned it. On looking at the Gaze documentation, it describes that addon as turning away for you for gaze attacks and then returning back to facing the mob after the gaze attack is resolved. This appears to work similar to how React works.
My addon does not have any automation (which i try to avoid), so you'll still need to turn away from the mob if it uses a gaze attack. Essentially, this addon properly locks your character into facing your current target when target lock is on and has tracking when monsters move around (like a more modern TargetLock system).
Thank you for the question :)
Yeah thats its main purpose but it has targetlock as well. it calls it auto_point i think it is
i modified gaze to only have targetlock when im locked on a target (kind like your normal mode) since it was annoying for me that it was always on (like your always mode)

So, Ive decided to tune down my ambition.
Instead of doing a complete full playthrough in one go, I will split it in “arcs”, and posting it as it is.
This way, I can start releasing sooner, as I already finished my first arc.
This also will allow me to take a break of this madness of playthroughs and work on other side projects. I really like to discuss mangas, and Ive been reading some far from the mainstream, with very little coverage.
Plus, upgrading a little my python skills to something I can make profitable.
In the future I also plan to work in a FFXI related project maybe. I like the game, and still I feel that some content is missing related to it.

So I finally beat all the content the game currently has to offer...
Congrats! Thank you for playing, and I sincerely appreciate your review and all of your feedback :)
A whole lot of love was given to this project. It is clear that it is from someone who adores the source material...
Absolutely - I've been playing FFXI on and off since shortly after the NA servers launched. In particular, I've always loved the art direction in this game. I'm still astonished by how the artists managed to create such beautiful particle effects from a set of relatively simple engine instructions. This entire project started from a desire to better understand those effects.
Some of the floors in the game-mode were chosen just to show obscure effects (ex: the shimmery ocean in Bibiki-4).
Small Bug Report that made things a little easier at the end: Thanks for reporting this - Router used to have a different mechanic (focused around Berserk), but I forgot to update the buff-clearing logic when I changed it. Will fix!
---
On a side note, I've published the game-mode on itch.io as well. I'll keep both sites updated.

Buy at your own risk. The codes have a soft expiration date. I've had and heard some work, and some don't work, even though they were new sealed products.
Bought some, the codes worked.
I struggled to remember where the hell the code was, but it was inside the paper that wraps around the thing.
Thanks to this

Sadly... you CANT use a second code to get the rainbow mog pell on the same character you used, I must have forgotten that. The only ones sendable seems to be the goblin club and the crab club, and the two moogle hats. Lame!
For the hardcore folks, I recommend they buy 2. Each item comes with 1 rainbow mog pell and 1 gold mog pell. You use one rainbow mog pell on a $1 mule so that you can dbox a nomad or moogle cap to your main. The second rainbow mog pell goes to your main for a nomad/town moogle shield, which doubles food duration (or gives you a costume). The percentages on BGwiki are wrong, I want to say it's ~95% double-food duration and 5% costume effect. (I've been using it before Sortie for a few years now). The gold mog pells, don't have amazing value, use them on whatever you like (maybe Guild Points?).
SE, if you're reading this, give us more access to rainbow mog pells! Maybe even make upgraded versions of these items!
I'd be hardpressed to pass on the Spinet.

It's one of the ones you just let grow. No food will do it, just give him the carrots so it stays happy and wait.

Does anyone know what the hell you feed the Tiny Bugard to make it shudder and grow?
I've been feeding it Sandy Carrots which it loves, and it's 3 Solid Stars for a few days now. But carrots don't make it shudder. BG-Wiki says feed it meat or seeds, so I tried a Savory Shank and I got the message, "Surprisingly, Buggalodon didn't completely hate that!"
WIki says to feed it Beastmen Blood to change it to an Abyssobugard, but I want the standard Bugard.
Is anyone in the know? Is the shudder message not guaranteed? Every previous monster shuddered when I fed them anything. They didn't always change, but I always got shudder messages. What's the deal?

I agree that it's probably just a simple point system, where different things are worth different points. I think we have some evidence that there are two classes of things that give points, Completion (of some larger set of things) and Incremental (points go up with each achievement).
I do agree with that it's probably simply points-based, so like 100 mastery points for rank 1, 500 for rank 2, up to some undefined number for rank 10. However, I don't think it really differentiates between "incremental" and "completion", there's just likely different weights for different quests/missions/titles and things like the final mission or a really difficult quest are probably worth more points. Different quests have different fame values so this isn't really unheard of.
Excuse me plz, since its probably answered befor...
Which RoEs count for the total number? Only the not-repeatables? All? (and how to check if done any repeatables befor?) Not the D/W/Ms?
Thank you for help here.
Any RoE that doesn't reset itself after a given time frame (daily, weekly, monthly) should count towards the 1084 possible. This is different from repeatable ones which will count (though you only have to do them once to clear the yellow dot marker).
I know there was talk on opening Campaign Ops earlier. Anyone have any insights on opening Granite Rose III? I've done 25+ reps of Granite Rose II and did Aegis Scream II 16+ times.
Granite Rose II didn't open until I did a few reps of Aegis Scream I, but it seems like this time it won't budge. Those are the only two ops in that section on my sevrer so far.
It should have just been repeats of Granite Rose II, but it's possible your nation didn't have enough other stats needed to unlock it as well. We've seen some weirdness where certain ops should be unlocked after a weekly reset (like even the tier 1s) and aren't until a few hours or even days elapse. It's probable that the nation needs a certain recon level or substats as well.

When we did kill him in the past, SAM didn't engage just built an enmity set and ideally did the initial pull when possible for the extra enmity. Only DD was COR doing Leaden from behind. COR can also solo SC with dagger, aeolean edge as I recall, but don't do anything none magical WSs as you'll pull hate off the sam fast

You'll want to wear high meva equipment and accessories like eabani earring, null belt, null shawl while making sure that you have at least some light elemental resistance.
There is augmented unmoving collar +1, arete del luna +1 and wuji ring that all directly protect vs charm.
Having at least 1 light resist in the equipment screen (See link below) is critical to fully activate Magic Evasion statistic you are wearing to resist charm spell.
I do my Sortie AE run on BLU/RUN and always keep LUX rune with Malignance set again Botulus and rarely I got charm. Neck, earring and ring would be a nice addition to increase resistance. Without /RUN I would definitely wear the Wuji Ring during this whole fight.
BG-Wiki Magic Evasion explanation
You can fully resist without 1 light resist. You only need The specific elemental resists to get the 1/8th resist on Damage spells hitting you.

Most of them didn't earn them anyways, but even still, depending on your server's grace level, it's not much of a loss. And SE has stated that after a certain point when the highest Grace tier is reached, EXP loss won't even matter, as it will be (paraphrasing) negligible (0 loss). From what I understood.

Carbuncle.Maletaru said: »Carbuncle.Maletaru said: »Vastly reduced points for healing = nobody comes on WHM. I mean, what incentive would someone have to come on anything that's not your strongest DD, with the current system, going by your logic?
And likewise for the following points you quoted.
I get the impression, please correct me if I'm wrong, that you misread my examples which anyway, again, were like silly examples and not the solution to the issue.
I think you read my word as if I was suggesting that system in place of the current one, and not in addition.
I'm fine with the current system (damage = points, damage done by party/ally members count as well).
The silly stuff I suggested were to add to that, not to replace.
The incentive to going on other jobs is to empower your team to be able to do damage, because you get full points for them.
If you go on 18 DDs, your entire alliance does ***damage, dies, and then you get 0 points.
If you go with a balanced party, you properly heal, buff, and tank for your DDs, then they can do a bunch of damage and you get a lot of points.
The other night for Omega we were missing a tank and RDM, so I switched to PLD and RDM. I tanked while the other parties did damage, and I got a shitload of points on my support jobs. Because the system is designed that way.
The answer to "which job should I go to fight the NMs on?" is:
Whichever job will enable your alliance to do as well as possible.
It could be a buffer, a tank, a healer, a DD, a RDM, or whatever. It incentivizes you to play logically rather than farm points like...DI...and just AFK and spam crits, for example.

I know that if there was no EP loss people would just set their HP outside the entrance and HP when they die cause it would be faster and with no weakness to just re-enter. So I don't know how to make that work. I'm not sure if the Grace EP loss reduction has a cap, but maybe when it gets up to 80-90% reduction lol.

i.e. ...WHMs get +10% points. Guess what happens when WHM gets a bonus?
You have 0 tanks, 0 buffers, 0 DPS because everyone wants the 10% bonus.

I'm not sure how long botulus takes for me but I'm pretty sure I get 2 burst affinities off before he dies. The first chain affinity + burst affinity combo drops him between 75-85% I believe. The SC damage must be rather low <10k I'd guess, I usually do expiacion -> thrashing assault = fusion sometimes I add savage blade for light but usually finish with Blinding Fulgor magic burst which lands for around 50-60k.
Maybe it's because my initial SC damage is low cause chain affinity is so weak that I can do 2 SC + MB / fight and still get chest. Have you ever tried to do more than 1 MB?

Tot I'm not sure that advertising this app as a browser-based client simulator was the best way to announce what you've actually created here, which is a single player version of FFXI that balances nostalgia with a fairly challenging and interesting gameplay concept.
This is honestly an amazing achievement, and I think that the only reason that you're not getting more of a response is that people assume that this is just a model viewer as opposed to an entire self-contained game.
Other than the rebranding suggestion my only request would be that you implement some type of NG+ mode where the enemies have increased stats, etc. It would probably become too difficult to continue with at some point, but figuring out where that breaking point is would be part of the fun.
Totally agree! I played with it and just thought it was a fun little character sim. I will have to revisit it now having read this post!

You're right and I agree with everything you've said. But logic goes out the window with your average FFXI-enjoyer. I just wish, for once, SE would flip the script, i.e. ...WHMs get +10% points.
When all things are equal, on average, a person wants to come DD first, and everything else that is required to perform well ...comes second. (It's usually up to event organizers or group leaders to come as the necessary, utility jobs, if others don't have them geared or are not even remotely interested in it).
Again, I'm not saying every one is like this, but it's common and it's been this way for 20+ years.

We are truly through the looking glass, looking back on the HNM era with rose-tinted glasses and arguing that that design was less exclusive than a server wide non-instanced battlefield If you're talking about me, while I sorta (almost) enjoyed the hnm scene back then, I would NEVER wish for things today to take inspiration from that era in ANY form.
But I do know a couple of purple on these boards who would, poor souls :-P
