History of other mmos across the last decade(s) demonstrates that locking an overpopulated server CAN work quite well, if not all, at least most of the times.
But not the way Se did it.

Legitimately curious, because I don't follow MMOs anymore, what other games did this and it was successful?

The only one I remember was EQ2, which moved all RMT activity to a single server you couldn't transfer out of. You could move or be transferred in, just not out, and it was tied to their sorry *** attempt at a RMAH.

Has the drop rate on Matter, specifically Alabaster, been horrible for other servers/characters the last month? Seems like my group has gone 0/6 a depressing number of times consecutively... Maybe its due to lack of NM kills? Or did SE plummet the drop rate after the initial release?
Over on quetz these have been my drops for alabaster last few weeks over 2 characters

2/4 this week so far
4/10 last week
5/10 2 weeks ago
4/8 3 weeks ago
4/10 4 weeks ago
sadly didn't record the matters before that.

My earrings are now rank 10 and 15

I will also note over that time if I separate the 5k chests from 3k chests the 5k chests had a matter drops 15/18 times and 3k chests had matter drops 4/24 times.

potentially hoarding up to 180

Price will go up on all of them to the point that it's worth listing some and buying some others to make sets. (Because there will be people listing some and buying some others to make sets.)

Biggest miss in sortie in my opinion is the mobs serve no purpose other then to get in the way I'm not saying that it should be empty halls but realistically they may as well be the trash mobs don't need to give an exorbitant amount of muffins but I don't think it would be unreasonable to make it worthwhile to maybe just go in clear fodder for a reasonable amount of muffins. The event as it stands is hurt badly by an overly large zone with very specific objectives required to "optimize" the time limit you have

Has this been updated since the discussion over widescan in places you can't?

Does it still use widescan?

And has it been made clear?

I'd like to start using this again as well as see the whereisnm site start working again but it's kinda come to a dead stop because there hasn't been much communication.

The primary problem is and always was 220 different drops.

Yea, if it wasn't implied I meant one item that works for any job.

but cutting the cost to get void/shards from aurix from 12 mil to 4 mil may be a lot more palatable.
Or just let you trade 3 matching shards for another shard. Then you're no longer throwing out the 10k pup shards, a minimum price is established and it's a whole lot lower than current prices for the pieces worth making. Only downside is that the ultra cheap pieces[that aren't worth making anyway] move toward somewhat cheap.

I'd laugh if we're overthinking trove and literally all they add is Malignance Box to it. No other change(s)
By Zenion on 2025-10-28 13:36:21
I would have to imagine that, unless they want to literally just say "well, we're locking down busy servers now, we can triple the potential congestion in Dynamis", solo entry would probably have to work like original-recipe Dynamis does now: One zone, no instances, for each area. You can go in alone, but you share with everyone else. No statues because fighting a squad of mobs will floor nearly anybody counting on trusts with no actual players to support them.

Of course, doing that would be a non-zero amount of work, so expect "you can enter and immediately exit for the +2 unlock, and then if you take three steps you will die." Theoretically fine for congestion, who cares if somebody goes in solo if they only hold the instance for three minutes. In practice though, nothing would stop anybody from going in and just sitting at the entrance until they time out. Wonder how many characters it would take to blockade a zone so you could demand a fee to enter.

If they actually cared to fix availability of relic+2/3, they could add an EX item that replaces the xshard/voidx pieces that drops from the solo version. Leaves economy mostly untouched, allows players a path to upgrade. Just giving them the clear doesn't really do much if they still have to dump buckets of gil into the AH to make anything.

I don't expect them to do it. Just thinking out loud.

If we are going to get chipped we will be the powersource.

After all we run at over 98f. That heat can get tapped without even invoking the matrix.

I have draw distance to its default settings and it happened to me in temenos as well. Also it was pretty random and happened to me like three or four times, if it were tied to a setting it would happen every time I think, no?
I guess °_°

Well, it leads into fixing this small issue

Leaving aside the issue of limbus' quality, I think the issue is that right now some players won't even think about touching temenos because thanks to dyna-d, they don't even have relic +2, much less +3 ready to upgrade to +4 in limbus.

So id like to assumecope that they'll take those few minutes to make it work as a solo zone since it helps their current content long term

I'm assuming its a gimped down version of just w1, just there to allow players to get their unlocks and nothing else
By waffle on 2025-10-28 11:03:48
Leaving aside the issue of limbus' quality, I think the issue is that right now some players won't even think about touching temenos because thanks to dyna-d, they don't even have relic +2, much less +3 ready to upgrade to +4 in limbus. Allowing solo entry obviously opens things up for +2s. I don't know if they plan any adjustments to the statues for solo, but if you can't solo it, they did already add the ability to farm regular wave 1 mobs to unlock +3 access.

I'm guessing the aman trove adjustments will drop shards to noise, creating a large amount of them so anyone can +2 without much issue, and drop voidshards to thuds. I don't know if they'll remove them from loud thuds, but I'd hope so. The new items could just be CoD htbf drops, though they could be adding new exclusive aman drops too. Those would end up in the loud thud pool, I imagine.

i have to turn my drawdistance down a ton in Apollyon specifically because when it's set even relatively high, it'll start picking up other floors and my game gets VERY laggy as well.

dropping the drawdistance fixed the apollyon issue, and I don't really have issues in Temenos. I remember my friend saying his SteamDeck was running at like single-digit FPS when we were doing Apollyon, but idk if he was able to reduce drawdistance to fix the issue like I did.

You can also choose to spam B instead of C and keep the hides for upgrades, which is a net positive both for segs and gil.

It does require effort, which is why most people won't do it even if they don't want to admit that is the reason why.

Easier to pay RMT than daily farm B. Especially when you can buy gil to pay RMT.
By Seun on 2025-10-28 10:54:11
A/B are lucrative, but that isn't meaningful to people who will happily pay to skip content because it's not optimal. If segments was your only prio, you threw away hundreds of millions of gil in scales and hides you would otherwise have from these runs. You also spent much of the gil reward you got from C runs on unity upgrades. Sitting on half a million segments instead of half a billion gil...

Sure, I was explaining that "real time" is not really real time in the meaning of those words.

You know what it means, to anyone else it might not be obvious.

Idk about japanese, but transciptions in real time is certainly possible (though with questionable quality).

Just would need to find the right program to do it (must have one)

The AH has screeched to a halt

This bit is tricky though, because the only reason Asura had such a lively AH was all the people buying and transferring to their own servers. That made the AHs on those servers that much slower, so it wasn't very good for the game on the whole.

Shared currency still is annoying. A second Emp+2/3 path would make sense.

The earring system is terrible. My last +2 was Aug. 29th and we 9 boss at least 5 times a week.

But I think the server lockdown is what caused the biggest decline on Asura. The AH has screeched to a halt and group shouts have become much more rare.

I also don't think the JSE sharing currency with primes is as big of a deal as it's made out to be. If you're making 8k muffins a run, you're not making a prime in the first place, flat out. If you're making 55k (8 boss) or 80k (9 boss) a run, the cost of a few pieces of JSE is totally negligible.

Most solo players start out clearing main level NMs but once they upgraded to empy +2 they'll eventually switch to soloing basement dhartok. It's no where near party point level but there is room for improvement even when soloing.

Now let's pretend for a moment SE made 2 different currencies, one for empy upgrades and one for primes, both rewarded at the same rate.
By the time I'd have 5/5ed my first set of empy +3 I'd have saved 400k points into my first prime, almost at halfway point to stage 3.

Since odyssey it's not uncommon to have 3 jobs reasonably geared so chances are you'd want to +3 at least some pieces of the jobs you care about, too. Suddenly a stage 3 prime seems to be within reach of a solo player!

In that scenario I'm pretty sure I would have continued solo at least till stage 3 prime. With the current system I've 5/5ed my main and maybe 1/5 or 2/5 the crucial pieces of the other 2 jobs I care about and call it a day.

The worst part is the opportunity of this double incentive, empy +3 and prime progress at the same time, is gone now.
