This is because you didn't do you taxes with those expenses, yes they are deductible, no the IRS doesn't make it easy to do. I provided the IRS guidelines, it's up to you to figure the rest out.

Having said that, HSA contributions just sidestep having to do all that paperwork or track everything throughout the year since the money going in was already pre-tax and consequently lowered your AGI.

I told you why my out of pocket max < 7.5% of my income. (read the link you posted!) So trust me when I say its in my form, it counts for 0.

Prior to the ACA and it's restrictions on what insurance companies could do, they denied as a matter of policy. Didn't matter if it was covered or not, anything expense bigger then a cold got denied. This is because there are people who would either not fight it, or after fighting it would accept less then what the contract stipulated they should provide. All the lawsuits, settlements and fines were still less then the insurance companies were required to pay. It was such a one sided situation that it became a national issue that effected elections.

From some of the horror stories, you're better off trying to win the powerball in back to back draws than have an insurance company down there cover a band-aid, let alone an actual procedure of any kind.

Most of those stories are either pre-ACA, grossly exaggerated or missing very important details. Prior to the ACA, no matter what you had written in the policy (contract), insurance companies could just retroactively change it whenever they want, play insane games and your only legal recourse was to sue them in court and have them settle for the amount they owned you anyway, after you paid your own legal fees of course. It was very profitable for them to just sell a promise, then deny it after you had been paying your premiums. The ACA took almost all the tricks away from them and made it such that the government would sue them if they failed to honor their requirements as an "ACA Compliant" plan. Insurance companies are happy to fight consumers but absolutely do not want to fight the US Government.

I'm a very big fan of free market capitalism, but the private health insurance market was such a one sided scam that something had to be done. Free markets require both sides to enter into good faith enforceable contracts with some amount of information and decision making power. The only way I'd imagine going back to pre-ACA is if the government mandated a fine of $1 million USD per day per individual per event for any company found to be violating it's contractual obligations.

I think you're painting too bad of a picture before and too rosy of a picture after. (FWIW my wife has worked for insurance companies and providers so I've gotten some insight from both sides). There are horror stories every where and there's also mischaracterization everywhere. There's also a lot of gamesmanship and shell games to follow the rules and pick up slack where the "free market" is legislated out. Not that I expect to change your mind and probably derailed the thread enough. Cheers.

If they are smart they will make everything pre-popped and non link aggro, otherwise it will be a shitshow for the kinds of players who it's aimed at. They will get swarmed instantly and wipe. Jeuno especially.

Also unless they add some kind of punishment for normal entry if you enter this or some kind of cost to it, geared players will go in there to *** around and swing their *** around to kill everything just cause they can.

Excellent analysys, I have nothing to add other than you mentioned Hassanshin but forgot to mention Zanshin? The proper ones, which happens only when you miss, which is ~5% of the times.
Altough I don't think it should behave any differently here than for any other katana, just slightly more frequently over a fixed amount of time, I suppose.

So if you normally get say 1 Zanshin every 30 seconds (numbers are completely made up), you're gonna get 1,3 every 30 seconds with this GKT?
Lol, big deal right?

@Senaki

What I'm about to say is going to suck, and probably piss you off, but it's just how it is.

Your degree doesn't matter, your grades do not matter, nothing you did in school matters. Those are all things from your point of view, and while nice for you, they have no impact on the employers point of view. From the employers perspective it's all about "what can you do for me", and "is this person going to be a problem". Congratulations you just became a salesman, the product you are selling is yourself and your customers are the employers.

Each job you apply for is a different customer with different requirements, so you need to tailor your sales pitch (application + screening interview + technical interview / etc) for that customer. Find out what their current technical challages are and what you can do for them. Documented work experience is the most valuable thing, which you don't have (or do you), so you have to rely on your personal projects or things you have done on the side to draw experience from.

On the whole military thing. This is a great option but really requires you to commit to it and understand what you are doing. Each branch has it's own codes but generally speaking they all have technical MOS's (military occupational specialties) and you need to ensure you get into one so that those years count as "work experience". The clearance is nice and all but defense contracting is not a very reliable long term career path due to how contracts are bid on and managed.

Yup this is pretty accurate. I realized this after finishing my BA in psychology and quickly decided to go to medical school to become a Psychiatrist. There is a doctor shortage and mental health is so difficult for folks to access, so I found that I am needed pretty much anywhere. I have my own practice, make my own hours and work 3 days a week. It is a very good living.

It was a LOT of work to get here but worth it because I am not about to enter that rat race you described, sounds like a nightmare.

Wouldn't put it past mercs or trolls to enter the shared area and sweep it up to Wave 2 just to end the instance early and prevent players from utilizing it. Even if this isn't the case, it's still possible that the shared area will already be cleared by the time many players can sit down and play.

The new Divergence area sounds better than I could've imagined.
I guess they're not gonna give RP and not drop Shards/Voids?
W/e, I don't need it but it feels good for the game in general.

New shared areas in Dynamis – Divergence
Click image for larger version Name: 20251104_011.jpg Views: 3 Size: 35.3 KB ID: 14320

Sorry for the wait on this! We've finished our preparations on making Dynamis – Divergence available for solo play!

We have created a separate area and entrance from the current Divergence, so in order to distinguish between the two areas, the existing Divergence will continue to be referred to as the "occupied areas" and the new areas will be the "shared areas."

Note that there will be no changes made to the occupied areas. You can take them on using the same conditions as before.

The following is an overview of the newly established shared areas.

- The areas in each nation open and close at predetermined times
- The time limit cannot be extended
- You can take on the shared areas once per day (resets at 12:00 a.m. JST Earth time)
- After entering the area, other players can join you to take on the content
- The area ends when you defeat all of the Wave 2 enemies or reach the time limit

Please see the version update information for more details.

These new shared areas are designed to help players who found it difficult to take on the content before, and provide them an opportunity to upgrade their relic armor, or at least give them a better chance of doing so. It is our hope that as many adventurers as possible take advantage of this new feature.

----

This is good! As a returner trying to get multiple relic pieces on multiple jobs, this will just make tiering up so much easier. Especially as I am EU and all my linkshells run Dyna clears at 1am ... I can't be the only person suffering from a willingess to party up, but a lack of opportunities.

I like this. It gives people like me opportunity to progress, whilst not lowering difficulty and challenge to the higher tiers (i.e. I can't just solo a boss clear!)

Win win

Oh my word SE are adding pay to win items!
Some good and some bad coming. Starting with the good:
  • New AMAN Trove Items, and better distinction between trash Loud Thuds and the great new Impossible to Gauge Thud

  • Shared Dyna Divergence area that you can enter every day. Wonder if it'll be swamped on the busy servers, or dead on the others.

  • Exemplar points reward for the final RoV mission I guess?

  • Ability to check whether the Limbus NMs have been killed or not

And the bad/weird:
  • Login points becoming more of a daily requirement? Getting the 1500 bonus on day 15 instead of day 1.

  • Vana'bout.. Stuff I guess?

Sure.

One thing is linked to the other.

More layoffs means the market of IT professionals is heated, so you can hire a seasoned person with lower cost, what affects young people trying to get their first job

Yeah, I dont think the story or the characters are sick.

It is their creators who need to go to jail

I mean are you really in your early 20s as an FFXI player? Pretty much everyone here is 40 +/- a few years. Advice on career would be very different if 22+/-2 years, or 30 or 40 years old. I don't care if you're 22 or 23, that's missing the point.

"All information relevant" wouldn't be all info if you're older. For all we know you could be saying you've just gone and got x degree but there could be ten years before that which might be relevant to advising you.

I’m in my 20s
In that case things are really tough right now. It's debateable whether or not AI is affecting graduate employment but most studies seem to imply it is.

On the surface, yes, companies are using this "AI Bubble" to justify layoffs and enact hiring freezes...but I only think their doing it to mask a recession.

I agree with everything you said Nynja, altough I'm not sure BCs are the best example here, it's one of the very few content where they actually give you the "skip cutscene" option lol

I did test the in game Marco for precast and it does appear to work correctly but I didn't spend too much time on it. Thanks all for the help and advice.

I loved RoV / the latest expansion’s stories. The other? Meh. I probably would have skipped if given a choice. Tbh it’s the stable of modern MMORPGs to let people skip stories.

I mean, surely, there has to be at least one group of friends out there in the FFXI void that all started together fresh in 2025 with no prior knowledge of the game actually attempting to clear content in order...right? Deep down I feel like the answer is no, but I really want the answer to be yes.

I've heard of a couple examples, most notably the one Capuchin mentioned, but also...it doesn't need to be 6, it doesn't need to be in order, it doesn't need to be 100% together.

Just grab 1 friend and do ***together. Or send a message in your linkshell(s) and ask if anyone wants to work on Kamavacas. Or whatever. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. I see lots of comments on here and reddit of people saying they can't do endgame because they can't commit to a static of 6 players going for 3 hours 7 days a week and I think that completely misses the point.

Other people think they need to get up to like 5 REMAs, ranked ody gear, and 5/5 of all their JSE+3 before they can start grouping up. *** that, group up from day 1. There are plenty of players in your situation who would love to group up with you, and you can also loop in a veteran player (or 2 or 3) too, if they're available and want to go with you. It really doesn't need to be such a SRS BSNS thing.

It's more naive to sink a pile of money into something that wants to actively *** you worse than a hooker.

THe people I know who have to do more personalized shopping largely prefer pre-ACA. I mean "do this, everything will be worse" is typically a bad selling point.

Its just naive to think people won't game a system and the more complex the system the easier it is to find unscrupulous ways to do things. Spaghetti legislation is just as bad as spaghetti code.
