As far as I know they give you the better chest at lower light values if you killed / had hate on the mob. Not sure the exact threshold, but the one with the amber ones is pretty obvious. You can start getting large ambers having all those with pretty low amber.

True - however usually when I see that kind of "trade-up" in games there's a tax. So you may have augment +20 on your +1, then finally get a +2. Sacrifice the +1 and then it drops it to just augment +10 on the +2. Better than nothing but still hurts.

Pups been "nerfed" for awhile just by virtue of enfeebs and having comparatively weaker hate gain to really any tank imo

The chance for empy bonus proc to happen is so low even with 5/5, that you would never build around it.
The new set is very good for RNG as both melee TP set and two pieces are good for white damage ranged build.
Heck, I match parse while spamming Coronach against my friend that has a stage 5 Gae Buide, there's clearly something wrong with that.
Anecdotal. It shouldn't be possible in normal scenario. Unless its with 25/25 Hover stacks.
RNG can match parse with DRG with Savage Naegling/Kraken though. At least when Warcry/Hoxne is not present, because Diarmuid is pretty meh at 1000TP, so DRG without Warcry from WAR needs to TP to 1700+ and Hoxne is Hoxne.

The 4 Jinpu is also how I do it. I like the added bonus of closing that with Shoha for a Gravitation kill. Depending on buffs/gear you may also consider locking gearswaping to gimp WS DMG intentionally.

Oof. For what it's worth, from the update notes, it seems like as long as you have the +1 or +2 of the exact same piece from the same set you can sacrifice the lower quality one to transfer the augment to the higher quality one.

I'll take your word for it but that hasn't been my experience with Rng dps. To me it seems deliberately under powered compared to top tier dps jobs. Not a bad thing as such, it's a ranged job that can stay out of aoe range after all. Unlike a certain other "ranged" job that doesn't.

RNG right now is absolutely overpowered and can easily top any parse easily against any other DD, to the point of it being impossible for absolutely any tank to hold hate against it. It does not need faster TP speed and it doesn't need higher DPS. Heck, I match parse while spamming Coronach against my friend that has a stage 5 Gae Buide, there's clearly something wrong with that.
SE has made many mistakes along the years when making new gear, but not giving RNG any new toy right now is not one - it's the same as when BLU was incredibly OP and it was left out of Omen gear, PLD was useless compared to RUN so RUN was left out of a few upgrades (notably being put on Agwu gear), etc. It's always been the way that SE rebalances jobs, by giving some jobs bigger boons than others.
Now, it is not perfect and thus you get NIN being forgotten and RDM being completely broken, but none of that means that RNG was "screwed", really.
Now, none of this means that you can't be sad because RNG didn't get anything new to play with, of course, so let's join all the SMN and NIN in the Pouting Room and share a muffin together.

I'm aware. I was saying ranger needs "some" rapid shot in midshot to work with empy set bonus.
Idk the cutoff for crit rate/storetp being a bigger dmg increase than empy set bonus though I'm sure someone will math it out.
Um...there's never a point at which it makes sense to put rapid shot in your midshot set...
Please explain why you think anyone would ever wear any rapid shot in their midshot set.

Unrelated: What do the abyssites (Kismet/Prosperity/Destiny) that say "bearer will experience greater fortune with [X type] of pyxis" actually do? They're not a buff to light upon zoning in (still entering with 0) - BG says "Certain Abyssites (listed in the above table) will occasionally cause a chest to be a stronger than it would be normally.", so is it just "tiering up" the chests (get more cruor on destroy / bigger effects / the big Amber Pyxis that can have NM pop KIs etc) in them, or is there more to it?

RNG and COR being on the SAM/DRG set is a bit hard to fit into any logic, I guess some of the XIV devs tasked with this went "oh SAM is on a REMA bow, therefore this must become the ranged set" and went from there :-P
I get that, the issue is Rng is screwed out of new armor because none of the new armor sets are useful for a ranged attack midshot set for lack of rapid shot.
So you're left with a Ranger TP set that wants the ranger to melee. Like a Corsair then, not a Ranger.
The Crit rate would be useful. The store tp would be useful. As would the ranged attack and ranged accuracy.
If it had rapid shot instead of QA.
Sets are like this because lore is not how armor should be designed. What is this armor going to be used for should be the design. Then have that fit lore.
SE - why do you hate rangers so much. The great Ranger nerf of 2005 was all of 20 years ago. Let it go. Give rangers cool things ffs.
Um...wut? One of us definitely doesn't understand how Rapid Shot works.

Edit: nevermind, looks like they juiced the fellow points too. I got 500k from a single 200-kill session when I only had 300k from all the leveling I did before. bgwiki notes it is based on the xp you (the player) get while killing with the fellow, so it makes sense that it jumped way up.
Edit2: holy ***, 50 charges for a Tactics Pearl is crazy. Wasn't it originally 5?
Edit 3: I'm capped now. They're super easy to level atm, to the point that it's probably going to be annoying. I imagine the compatibility upgrades and level cap quests are going to be the terrible part for people who haven't done them yet. Go kill 200 Apex monsters with them and you can probably buy every item in the fellow point store. As soon as you get a Tactics Pearl, it's basically not time-gated content anymore. Haha, your edits covered basically everything I had to say - all these numbers are buffed from 2006. Like buffed by a factor of 10+ (Tactics Pearls were originally 4 uses, not even 5 - there's still an image of the old item over on the ffxiclopedia page for them.) I got the 6.2 million points just by leveling from 30-99 (to be fair, without paying attention - I likely overkilled at cap because I wasn't looking for the ding. I liked Gustav Tunnel a lot, those little adamantoises/giant worms go up to level 102 and it's an area nobody else tends to be.)
The time gate is bond levels / getting the Tactics Pearl to begin with. If you're diligent about checking in daily in Ru'Lude at the Rendezvous Point you can build the bond up to the 30 cap in advance of doing anything else, but the 30/50/70/90 caps are gated by the Fellow questline.

Omega is probably the most fun I've had playing XI since I've been back. 124 people going hard on one mob for 3+ hours despite the innumerable deaths was glorious and physically exhausting. And if this were a one time event to pay proper homage to good old Ultima and Omega this would be God-tier content. But doing this *monthly?* Dear, sweet Jesus. What are they thinking???? I'm already drained and we haven't even seen Ultima yet!!
Presumably they have HP scaling based on the number of people in the zone, yeah?
If they don't regen HP, and each server gets most of a month to kill them, well... Groups of 12-18 showing up to nibble at their HP bar over several weeks is way less epic than the avengers assemble experience people are relating here, but it doesn't seem impossible.
It would be nice if EXP loss reduction capped higher, though. zone in, /ra, zone out, repeat (they're fast enough this probably wouldn't work, but...)

I'm presuming /c is an action that sends a packet out to the server and they send a reply with the information, its not something that the client knows on its own, right? In that case, is it possible to silently /c every mob that enters the visible 50' radius, or even not until 30' to look less sus, and have it not spit out the reply to the client unless its the ITG mob?
I'm aware this will result in a lot of outbound spam, but SE made the ITG mob indistinguishable from every other mob and the only way to find it is to do exactly this. They didnt give it a unique name, they didnt give it a standout model, either by color or size, so spamming /c would be perfectly normal behavior.
Absolutely possible, relatively simple. Been asked for quite a few times on info bar addons for showing mob level on private servers and my answer was always that enabling passive spam 24/7 is potentially harmful. If it were just limited to Limbus and loaded to search then disabled, that's probably pretty reasonable.

I doubt SE really care about it at this point, and I doubt a proper scraper will be made for this site at this point.
People should just create an announcement topic, and update it every time they add something new.

love the fight but whats the reward. Tbh its a shard wide bonus on stuff but for the fight on its own its not worth doing. Atleast give us some points or drops.

We will be pushing updates onto the development branch later tonight. If you play on it, I would recommend switching to back stable (see OP for instructions), if you're doing anything important. If not, we'd appreciate if you could keep helping us test these changes, by just playing normally. Nothing in particular should change with this update, these changes will just enable better Japanese language support further down the line, as well as simplify some of the existing plugins.
