Rostam question:
If I was only to get one Rostam, path C is higher priority, right? Saw a post from about a year and a half ago saying path C before considering A or B. Would be fine getting A and B Lanun knives.
Also, assuming access to everything minus AALimbus gear, for double dagger meleeing, would Rostam/Crep work best, or Rostam/Gleti still be king? Mostly Sortie bosses atm to not WS wall our SB user.

You can only claim one code per character, and some items aren't sendable.
I claimed two last year, with one the year before that.

Is there a consistent way to avoid the full dispel? I typically just wait until his 2nd auto attack and then move to about 11-12 yalms out of range and that gets me to avoid it about 50% of the time, but avoiding it 100% of the time would be nice.
I pull from ~22.3 ish. Take a quick step away, pause, then slowly walk away. If he blast me with the white AA animation then I just keep walking away. (most common scenario) If he doesn't then I do a second pause.
I rarely get dispelled.
Nice. OK, so basically make sure you're out of range at the moment Aminon's ability animation/spell cast/whatever is complete.
Kinda of, but if you go too far, too fast, you'll get drawn into Aminon instead of the middle. The whole process is to get him out of the middle but stay in his AA range.

When you say "performance difference" what are you meaning?
Higher Cpu usage per XI instance. Dgvoodoo does offload to gpu, but not everything is done on the gpu. For me driver settings to enable it have less of a cost, cpu usage wise, than either of the other options.
When you start adding boxes, the cpu usage starts to add up. The uncapped framerste is a result of 100% cpu usage, a thing you don't want. It costs money to constantly run a cpu that high for one.

Anyone here use Lossless Scaling? I have been running DgVoodoo2 but when adding Lossless Scaling it *feels* more crisp. I'm wondering if I even need to run DgVoodoo2 anymore.
Lossless scaling likely won't work with FFXI natively due to it's DirectX8 engine. All Dgvoodoo2 is doing is translating FFXI's old DX8 API calls into the more modern DX11 API and in doing so bypassing Microsoft's crap legacy DirectX emulation implementation. In theory you could use Atmos's DX9 proxy to translate FFXI's API calls to DX9 which Lossless scaling kinda works with (I think?).
Going from DX8 to DX11 does not automatically increase graphics quality, but it does allow the features of modern frameworks and hardware to mostly work. I heavily use reshade to apply postprocessing filters to FFXI that make the game look really pretty with more vibrant lighting effects. You would be using LLS to do the same thing but with resolution scaling or MFG.

DgVoodoo2 doesn't "implement" anything like that and instead it just sets flags being sent to the DX11 API
In theory you are correct. In practice, there is a big performance difference between enabling mip mapping explicitly in dgvoodoo and having it set to either app driven or off with driver settings to enable it globally for dx games.
This may vary between cards and drivers. For me and nvidia drivers, off in game and dgvoodoo with driver settings per preference works best. YMMV.
When you say "performance difference" what are you meaning? Because for me FFXI runs at several hundred FPS if I don't throttle it to 60FPS. Dgvoodoo2 is meant to assist in playing older games on modern hardware, not all options apply all the time.
Mipmaps are handled a few different ways, from what I can tell dgvoodoo2 is just telling the drivers to automatically generate mipmaps during texture load. Those mipmaps are just down sampled versions of the raw texture and FFXI doesn't use large textures in the first place so the work is miniscule. The older way was for mipmaps to be pre-generated and stored with the texture file, which is fine for smaller textures but gets insane for larger ones. Since FFXI has it's own mipmapping option, it's recommended to use that instead of trying to bypass it and use your GPU's auto-generation method. Mipmap auto-gen in dgvoodoo2 is really for older games that do not natively have mipmapping and instead just stored a single version of a texture in each file.
FFXI already does weird things with textures as it is and Dege had to put in a special handling method to get it working in the first place when I brought it up with him.

Ironic this is coming up because I was just wondering if hoxne is worth it on NIN…guess I’ll do my own tests.
It is what it is about Daken, at the end of the day faster TP rate is faster, uniqueness aside. And disregarding racc in an engaged set does open up more options.
Another mark on the poorly-designed-ninja elements these days.

Oh damn, I never noticed this before. I've got some digging to do, and not just the choco variety!
In my experience... when defeating the mob for the 1st time, it went straight to 5, and repeat kills never changed the number. I've tried using "negative" modifier runes as well to impact it This matches my experience as well...
I'm pretty sure that this maze used to be tuned so that you might be beating on an nm for 15 mins without killing it, and rewards were based on how much hp you chipped off of it. Ranks are probably in 20% HP increments. so can someone who hasn't killed them all try leaving early or deliberately stalling it out and see what they get if they do this?
Reason I came to post: Chocobo digging campaign's back on starting today!

To clarify slightly, I do already have an addon that's fully functional for running sets of free runs (8 at a time, following one "set" of 8 races) but it's relying on some in-addon hacks to fix issues with the packets library that I'd like to remove and clean up before pushing it out publicly.
I have an open pull request on Windower to fix the packets, but due to the issues with the dev branch over the last few months, it hasn't been gotten to just yet. Once that's merged in, I can remove the workarounds, clean it up, and I'll drop it on my github.

Dont be that naive and bow to mighty lord AI while you can! Oh there will be plenty of time to do that once politicians quit and the AI takes over.
Only the poor and the peasants make decisions based in things like money or profit.
When you move up the hierarchy, maybe money isnt the most important thing to consider And that is exactly what we are seeing with the failure of the metaverse and AI shutdowns.
The techie zillionairs can pour hundreds of billions into propping up a dream but even for them there comes a point when money gets real.

It's been discussed. I think Hoxne Ampulla is likely a gain. Smaller than on other jobs, but a gain is a gain!
By going that route though you lose one of the things that make ninja special, that is Daken and the shuriken launch once per turn.
It depends on how much you value efficiency vs uniqueness I guess.
I do agree about daken being a nice unique feature. I suppose I need to look at the possible sets more and see if the gain is really worth it or not. For RDM that ammo is just insane. Havent used it much on NIN mainly cause the sets should be changed a lot, i assume.

I haven't tested it thoroughfully, but for me the best combination I found was on BLU.
Sylvie, Joachim (or Cornelia when available) and Qultada.
You keep stuff like Haste, Nature's att buff, you can debuff others in several ways, mostly through tenebral crush or frightful roar depending if you can AoE or not.
Pretty confident there are better jobs/trusts combinations than this, but in the little time I tested things around at Limbus release, this proved to be the most efficient for me.

Man, forget all of that - what is the optimal 3 Trust setup for solo (when playing as a non-COR DD job, i.e. - WAR, MNK, DRG, etc)?
The Trust limit makes this tough. You don't really need a healer as you will likely be pulling single targets, but you can't get "all" of the buffs you want with just 3...

Haven't played NIN in a few months, looking at Hoxne Ammo some more with Damage Sim tool and not sure if there is a consensus on if the Ammo is worth it for NIN.
The -20 DT and -50 DT sets the tool made did favor Hoxne and the Zesho set did also. Still need to tweak more but before i go down more DW rabbit holes wanted to ask others views on the matter.
Also wondering a little bit if these TP sets seem overkill or not? They are already made and seem to work well but does mean when new sets come out, limbus for example it might mean a ton of rework.
I tried to account for different haste situations and even a max DW set when weakened, which did come in handy a little bit recently.

I think Kayte is working on an addon for repeat freeruns that she might decide to release in the future.
It's a very complex and excruciating trial&error process, so this might take some time or she might even decide to give up.
She reads this thread so she will give you more info about it!
For the meantime if you want I can give you a simple windower script.
It's not as good as a dedicated addon or more complex things, but it's better than doing it yourself for one hour, I guess?

A question about earning chocobucks:
How i collect these? Doing hundreds of free runs may ends for me with an Cerebral hemorrhage even trying to raise one stats lv (for a raised chocobo). Is there a way to fasten up the free runs or else way to gather these points?
Thx in advance.

I'm unfortunately in the process of moving house, so I packed away the Blu-Ray recently. But if anyone wants a code, let me know. I don't suspect that I will be playing FFXI anytime soon, and I have the DVD packed away.
Probably can get it to you in a couple of weeks.

4 pages of discussion as to how to fit a geo in a melee speed run, only because some guy said you can in theory hit cap on hybrids if you stack every buff under the sun.
Are you guys okay? By the time geo puts up bubbles you could just be killing them with physical WS.
But that won't let you take epeen screenshot of capped dmg on mobs with 50 dt.
don't try to frame it like that... it's pointless.
You can apply this concept to other types of comps, same mechanics will apply. More chaos = bubbles comes out later, more unnecessary risks, slower runs etc.
It's not just because some guy said something about hybrids, we've been bringing GEO even before this post came up again.. are YOU okay bruh? XD let theorycrafters theorycraft.. live and let live!
We're far from that point where we can stop discussing things cause they're all well known and obvious. As long as they retain a reasonable direction, these kind of conversations are useful imo.
Do you pug Limbus every week? I do and I'll tell ya it's in our best interests to have such conversations, while hoping that lazy GEO/WHM will read and learn something outta it. I care about improving the community and its players, otherwise i'd just shut up and avoid discussions in the first place, while 6 boxing my way into anything instead of wasting time typing in here xD

I prefer to bring a BLU over GEO, Tenebral Crush -20%DT. Yes Please. Oh, and BLU doesn't just stand there (You know who you GEO's are,) BLU can even contribute DD. Even help back up heal if needed. Yeah, you probably won't 9 lines. But you will get finished faster. /shrugs
