D95 vs D99..

Currently I use a Fay lance with dmg95 str3 dex2 as my main lance. I also use a d95 str2 flash+10 lance for soloing. My question is how much more dmg will the 4 pts from the d99 lance add vs the 95 one? I ask because I started (and am almost done) with the magian quest for a d95 additional effect: defense down+10 stribog lance, and wanted to know how much more dmg cud b achieved by using a stronger base dmg. Thanks.

Get the OAT one instead.
To actually answer your question it's slightly less than a 4% increase in damage per hit during TP and roughly a 2.5% increase to WS damage.

About 3.8%~ more damage per hit DoT and about 2.8% on Drakesbane.

And this goes for almost every weapon. A loss of 20 DMG is still way worth it for a +45~% increase in attack frequency. Assuming it is 45%. I haven't seen any testing yet.
Only weapons I wouldn't recommend it with are possibly sword if you're already a Ridill job, or Dagger for THF.

Too bad the h2h ones will probably suck for OAT. Did some brainstorming earlier :(

Wanted to post this before i got aggroed:
99/95 is 4.2% increase in weapon damage. Your actual increase in damage will be lower however due fstr (on melee, jumps and ws) and wsc on ws.
There are many things to account, but if we consider only fstr and wsc the 99dmg will always be an upgrade. Its also easier to 6 hit with it.
@Enternius
And why would you not recommend the DA weapon for thf? Drg has love halberd at least. Thf has no decent multi hit, and this one certainly is. I didn't do any calc, but ppl at Alla already accepted this dagger as the future for thf.

I don't think it's such a good idea for two reasons:
1)Mercurial Kris, though it has low DMG, is always going to be far far better for TP gain.
2)Sirocco Kukri's low delay already puts makes it faster than a standard 211-delay, OAT dagger.
In both situations, the new dagger will have higher DMG than both of the others, but unless something has changed since I quit FFXI, offhand DMG isn't a very important factor for any job. Merc Kris and Sirocco Kukri will always be a better offhand weapon assuming 45% proc rate on the new dagger.

Looking at Glanzfaust, we already know non virtue stone occ attacks twice can only proc on 1 fist.

The dagger is good. Thf is mostly dps and well having a decent dmg double attack will up your Dot a bit more than sirocco mostly and alot more than Mkris. Tp gain will be less than Mkris but meh.
Also we don't know if these h2h can or cannot proc on both swings yet.

Also we don't know if these h2h can or cannot proc on both swings yet. But based off of two h2h weapons that have occ attack twice that only procs on 1 fist, it's safer to assume that it doesn't proc for both hands more than it is to assume that it does proc for both hands.
Glanz and Kenkenoken both only can proc on the main hand. Before using Faith baghs as a counter argument, virtue stones DA are of a different nature than any other weapon type, so it wouldn't be smart to categorize these new h2h w/ faith baghs.
For example, virtue stone weps actually stack w/ DA where as occ attack twice weapons cannot.

well 211 delay / 1.45 hits it has on avarage (with 45% proc rate), this represents 145 delay if it were single hit weapon. So it is a bit faster than SK and more reliable considering SK added damage doesnt proc on every mob.
Yeah MK has faster tp gain, but this weapon has both tp gain and dps. Wasnt there a moment long ago ppl actually thought mythics were good for the same reason? Then SE crushed our dreams with those requirements to proc the multi hits.

How do you figure it's 145 delay? I get 163 when I do the math.

Gotten thru a rather annoying long route. For all we know it could operate in a way that is different from any other so far just like the jailor weapons were completely different than anything before. While sure assume for now that they don't is safest, that shouldn't stop anyone from getting them to find out or make them bad. Just probably bad.

Quote: that shouldn't stop anyone from getting them to find out It's enough to stop me from getting them until someone else finds out. Not going to waste all that time doing that quest to potentially walk out with nothing when I could have been spending that time getting the dagger for example for my dnc (which is what I'll prolly do if the h2h come out the way I anticipated.)

I guess. I figured now is the easiest time to get them since you will have so many people out there together doing it.

It'll be a bit till it dies out. Not like shells are going to stop when the first person gets a completed weapon. Going to want to complete more, ect, and I'll make my choice once the first h2h comes out, but again, if it were more likely than not that they did proc on both hands, I'd have already started. (but even then it's been mathed out very slight increase to faith baghs)

Damn, I've almost completed the DMG95 weapon. My thinking is that if the Added Effect: Defense down+10 proc's as much as the Flash+10 on my Fay Lance then i'd have a winner lance thats useful in pt's (due to being able to do higher dmg when Defense down kicks in), but I have no idea how much Defense down amount is.... On my fay lance, the flash procs very often, I'd even say maybe 30-45%, but its hard to tell becus the flash won't proc until the last flash has worn...and it lasts roughly 10 secs...

ive been working on the D99 lance, hoping that u can add stats to it when some more trials are released
but i fig if i combine it with sword strap to drop the 507 delay to 492, i hit as fast as my thal with 5 more base dmg
so many weapons, got the OAT GK in the works and the vit+4/phys -5% sword ; ;
