You are arguing with a group of people who have been through all this.
I dunno but, I do not give my personal blessing to those who simply wish to have a right ordained on them with no effort. That's why I'd expect, or maybe hope, that at least it would be understood here.. Do the crime, do the time, I'm perfectly okay with that, and protecting potential victims is fine by me too, no problem what so ever.. It's when you start labeling someone based on something else that serves as a 'warning sign' and pretty much sentencing them to incarcerated life/death that I really start to get bugged about the whole thing. I've seen how gay people are treated in society, I basically grew up beside someone that was openly gay from about 3rd or 4th grade... Maybe I'm to empathetic for my own good, or maybe I just expected that fight would make people with alternative life styles a little more empathic.

Gonna end this on a note that everyone is entitled to their thoughts. As *** up and sick as they may be, you are always entitled to your own thoughts, mind, imagination etc.
By no means should you be prosecuted or criminalized for thinking a certain way even if it depicts illegal actions IRL.
Only when it is acted upon through means that harm or alienate another person is law enforcement justified.
