It's an acquired taste. I used to hate it. I also don't drink it just to get drunk :P

Heheh I don't quite get the stigma that people associate with "drinking just to get drunk." Alcohol is expensive; if I'm not going to drink enough to get buzzed or drunk, why not just drink something cheap like water ? Especially since there are few drinks that I don't find absolutely revolting. XD

Generally drinking to get drunk is done for much different reasons than light drinking.

I don't think there's anything wrong with intentionally getting drunk. I like the taste of beer, so I like to relax and do it over time. You'll probably come to like some of the stuff you find revolting now.

The ending result doesn't sound too good! D: Lol we can't. At least not on submarines. I here on a carrier if you are deployed long enough they let you have a couple of beers once...
But on a submarine when you are out to see you are pretty much on duty 24/7. You could basically think of it as being on call... except it's not an idle we might have something for you do to since there are drills and maintenance and training and more drills and exercises and qualifying etc etc etc in the 12 hours you have off after your 6 hour watch. Oh and trying to get a meal or 2 and some sleep in as well... maybe a shower if we aren't rationing water.

I still hate beer. Grasshopper was one of the few I could stomach if I had to, and all the college bars had it on tap.

I hate all beer, but and I can't remember if it was with my son or my daughter, I craved a chocolate beer I saw on tv.
