For the first time, a national ABC News / Washington Post poll shows that a majority of Americans now support same-sex marriage.

I'm all for it, i'm not gay or anyhing, but i think the definition of marriage per the state's standards is different from that of a religious organization's.

Being denied perks that come with marriage due to same sex is kinda screwed up seeing as how the seperation of church and state is clearly not being practiced.

Just rename it "union" or "joining" or "melding" or "marriage calibration"...whatever the name, just to shut up the radicals, make the word "marriage" be removed from state books and call it something else and let the holy rollers call it marriage if they wish...

I personally think church folk should accustom theirselves to call it "holy matrimony", which is what marriage is to them... it's a joining of 2 souls through the eyes of god...

This so much. I don't understand what the problem with two men or two women getting married is. Hell in Japan a man can marry a video game character yet here in the US two people of the same sex can't get married? It blows my mind away that people are opposed to this, especially since it doesn't even truly impact their lives at all. If Bill and Bob get married, does my life change? Not one bit.

Finally the rest of america is getting with the times. It baffles me that some people are opposed to same-sex marriage. its 2011... people need to realize religious doctrine cant and shouldn't run a country.

on a brighter note its 1:38pm here in West Hollywood. and im still drunk from saint patricks day drinking.

Too many liquid cocaine shots @ Micky's and 11 haha

I read recently that a lot of celebrities are pushing Obama to make same sex marriage legal, so hopefully it'll come to fruition soon! <3

That being said I have no intentions of marrying soon, but by the time I do, hopefully same sex marriages will be legal.

While admittedly not ideal, it's better than nothing ever changing.

Dangerous way of thinking imo. Just because an outcome is desirable in one case doesn't mean that the way we look towards solutions/significant change isn't fundamentally flawed. I would much rather see people becoming understanding on their own rather than following the ideas of a group of people who happens to be popular. But that is my opinion and I understand others may not see it the same way.

I actually don't see whats wrong with celebrities expressing their political opinions. Most that are politically active are educated and progressive. E.g. Jodie Foster.

Its not like we see Lady Gaga doing antisemitic rallies. Or Britney Spears saying all gays should burn in hell. To the contrary these celebrities are expressing humanitarian, progressive, and humane views... which tbh isn't all that bad.

I'm glad that celebs like Lady gaga,Britney spears, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Ellen Degeneres, Jodie Foster, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie etc.. etc... are vocal in interviews regarding gay rights. Because this is helping mold future generations to be more understanding and accepting of others.
