As I get older, I realize I don't really need/want anything. Just stuff that would be nifty. I'd do fine without Mass Effect 2 or a new iPod.

You can still celebrate and give gifts, and not want anything in return.

I have done that last year while I was in Japan. I sent all my gifts to my niece/nephew/parents/sister/brother-in-law and I told them to save the money they would have spent on me and shipping and buy the kids something. I didn't get anything for Christmas last year, and I didn't mind.

But this year, I really don't want anything. Nothing material nor spiritual/emotional/thoughtful. I will still give gifts, I just don't want anything specific in return.

then we give you people who don't want anything for Christmas (i.e. people who don't celebrate it).

It wasn't about whether they celebrate Christmas or not directly. It was that since they don't celebrate it, they obviously aren't wanting/expecting gifts on a holiday they don't celebrate, and this would fall under the category of your question "Can it be possible not to want anything for Christmas"
And the answer was yes.

Ask a better question next time and you'll get a better answer. You got an answer for the question that you did ask, however.
