I didnt look at those campaign, but those rewards are quite underwhelming.

The existance of garbage tier item in the treasure pool is a massive red flag of how bad is the odds to get anything useful in general, and even less to get something useful to the actual player

The point is not the very low chance of additional high tier items from the normal FES Key attempt, because as you said, the treasure pool is just way too watered down. Just look at it as being more or less an extra daily shot at the regular gobbiebox Special Dial (with a small number of additional items in that massive pool).

The bigger deal here is that they've told us that on every 10th FES Key attempt, you get a rainbow chest that increases the odds of the HTBF items. We have no idea what that means yet: it could be double the odds of a 0.01% chance of one of the items from that smaller pool, bumping it up to 0.02% (LOL). On the other hand, it could mean that rainbow offers a 100% chance of a treasure item from the newer high tiers (Selbina, Shinryu, Cloud of Darkness). The effort required is pretty low, so I'm willing to gamble a little bit of my time and see what happens. If I get something like one of the rare Crepuscular items? OK, that sure would be worth it to me. I realize it's also quite likely I get stuff like little worms and Mes'yohi Swords - but hey, they've been pretty generous as of late with the Old Case+1 and Murky items from login points, free Bonanza weapon, better Vanabout rewards...

For anyone interested in the quickest path to a daily FES key: The best one I've found is doing the Kiddie Present event in Bastok Mines, because everything is very close in that zone and you can reduce any unnecessary running around. Basically just requires zoning twice and talking to a few nearby NPCs. If anyone has an even more efficient method, feel free to share!

1) Talk to Christina, just N of the Bastok Mines AH/HP#1 to get a Kiddie Present.
2) Wearing a Dream Hat or Dream Hat +1 (if you have neither, can just buy the NQ hat from event Moogle NPCs for 10k), turn around from Christina and trade the Kiddie Present to Valeri standing near the HP#1.
3) Go back to Christina and warp to Windurst (better than San d'Oria because it drops you closer to a HP) to get your daily FES key.
4) HP back to Bastok Mines HP#1 or #2 and trade your key to Bountibox right outside of the mog house entrance area.

I then like to run my mules right back to Christina (very close) and log out there to be ready for the next day's attempt.

FWIW, my FES Key drops from 3 days x7 characters/mules listed below
Nothing especially interesting here, more just showing this to confirm it's mostly random garbage with a few decent gil items sprinkled in - just like the usual SP dial/Anniversary Key/etc. I'm not doing it for these drops though, I'm doing it due to curiosity about the rainbow box on my 10th attempt.

I have done the smilebringer ones in mines as well. Talk to the moogle, talk to 4 NPCs, talk to the moogle, can use HP3 to 2 to save a lot of walking.

So, we've seen Crepuscular Ring, Crepuscular Earring, and Null Loop reported in this topic. Wouldn't it be so SE for them to have added drops from Shinryu and Cloud of Darkness to this dial... but only the common ones?

I mean, yes ...but on Day 10 (or Key#10?), the gobbie box becomes Rainbow ...and then ...anything can happen! ;)

Since I'm too cheap to buy all my alts the hat and I have 4 accounts, I use the one with only one char to stand outside each city and shoot astral boxes for my alts to get the bell token. Then they can just zone back in and turn it in.

Once you have the 3 gear drops the key appears to be guaranteed (no food so far if key could be obtained). Though you can get the FES key first exchange or anywhere in between as well.

I've only spent 3 keys on one char so far. Going to wait until #10 to turn in the bulk.

Honestly for the effort to potential reward, this is a pretty decent one. The Windurst Smile bringer quest is pretty quick too.

Talk to Smile bringer at F-5 to get the gift
Walk to F-8, there's a taru kid walking back and forth, give gift.
Walk back to F-5 to Smile bringer and port to Bastok or Sandy. (Ive been doing sandy, puts you about 100 steps from a HP)
HP back to Windy Waters E (G-7)
Walk back to Smile bringer and logout for next day.
Loop takes about 4 minutes for a shot at something decent. I'm just holding keys for now, just for speed of running through these since I have 14 chars.

So far the ones I've opened have all been underwhelming, but seems to be just another version of SP Gob key with the 10th being more likely something better. All for Spending just 10k on the Hat, if you didn't already have it. Personally i'd say its worth the time, And its easily doable on level 1 mules.. which is nice, unlike Vanabout...

Another 96 Keys later, notable drops:

- 2x Daybreak
- Swart Astral Detritus Grand Coffer (24 inside)

The effort/reward ratio has been abysmal so far. :D

Aren't you familiar with the regular Gobbiebox and SP Keys that have been around for over a decade? FES Keys are basically an extra daily try at that, with a slightly different treasure pool. Not sure why anyone is surprised that the Gobbiebox is working the way the Gobbiebox has ALWAYS worked: mostly NPC trash, occasionally a decent money item or a R/E item.

But, again, none of that is the reason this one is a little more interesting. The twist here is that on the 10th FES Key, you get a Rainbow Box that we've been told increases the rate of high tier battle drops. Nobody really knows what that means yet, and the earliest we'll see any rainbow chest results is December 25 (Japan time), or December 24 for those who logged in before JP Midnight on the first day of the event.

The "effort" required is so minimal though. Basically just remembering to log in and use the Gobbiebox daily, with the extra step of interacting with a couple NPCs. Nets me a couple items (one from the FES Key, and might as well open the Special Dial when I'm already standing there). Yeah it's usually trash or low value NPC fodder, but the occasional decent item does show up. The one Koh-I-Noor I got the other day from a FES key probably justifies the small time spent logging in mules while half paying attention and working on my other screen. The real hope is that maybe the rainbow chest offers some good rewards, especially since high tier drops can be sent from mules.

The effort is noticeable if "someone" does it on 96 characters.

Also, that Rainbow Box will most likely be a Mog House thing - it'll disable my Mega Moglifications and I'll hate it.

Then don't do it 96 times a day? Most people aren't doing a full 6 accounts with 16 characters on each lol. If that feels excessive to you (and... yeah, I could see that), scale back to your comfort level.

Not sure why you think the rainbow gobbiebox will have anything to do with your mog house or Mega Moglification. Update notes were fairly clear that it's just going to change the existing chest (i.e., the gobbiebox) to rainbow once you hit your 10th try.

Quote:
A new festival dial has been added.
The festival dial requires the use of an #FES dial key that can be obtained during seasonal events.
* You can acquire one #FES dial key per day, and it will be reset at 12:00 a.m. JST (Earth time).

In addition to items that can be obtained from the existing anniversary dial, spoils from high-tier mission battlefields and high-tier avatar battlefields will also be included.
Also, for every ten treasure chests that you open, the chest will change to a rainbow color and boost your chances of getting high-tier mission battlefield and high-tier avatar battlefield spoils.

IIRC, there's also no precedent for Moghancement effects altering anything from the Gobbiebox. Closest thing is the Moghancement from the Prismatic Chest impacting AMAN Trove by increasing the chance of getting a new Mars/Venus Orb when trading a used one to Grayson - but even that doesn't change the quality of drops from the actual coffer, nor is it related to the daily random stuff from Gobbiebox.

I'm usually capable of stopping stuff that annoys me. Atm it's still research for this thread.
