I guess modders took about 4 hours to release a VR mod with hand tracking for Oblivion. It really saddens me that Bethesda didn't just release a VR version. That would solidify my entire year of video game playing.

Whenever I see the phrase "updated for modern audiences" I immediately pass on that product. It's one of the biggest red flags that the product has been worked over by the Inclusivity department.

Price is right in line with all remasters, no big deal. I'm sure it will sell well for the first week because it doesn't have any immediate competition.

For me I'm thinking I'll wait out the bugs, etc. and for teaching to finish in 6 weeks then use it as an excuse to buy a 21:9 monitor finally.

When I played Skyrim I ruined it for myself by doing the cheat where you make the darksteel or whatever it was, infinite gil and skill up and get overpowered quick. Still spend something like 100h in it though.

Trying to push political agenda with new games was impossible because the modern audience doesn't exist, so you have to remaster old games and add they/them It's MA'AM edition.

I think at some point you have to distinguish signals from problems. The body type thing is a signal, it indicates that the developers are following a certain ideology. It isn't a problem; your enjoyment of the game should not be hindered in any way by how the slider is labeled.

Ugly female characters, horribly woke writing, and such are problems. They actively hinder enjoyment of the game.

Sure, most games that display these signals also display the problems, but the signals themselves don't mean anything. Was the game itself made any worse, or is this just a nitpick?

Edit: I do recognize that boycotting a company that showcases ideology you're opposed to is perfectly valid. Doesn't make the game bad, though.

Are you saying that you personally can't enjoy the game because you have to select from type 1 or type 2 once at character creation? I dislike the ideology, but that wouldn't stop me from playing a game that I otherwise wanted to play. It's the most minor and irrelevant thing.

This is a wild oversimplification of what a problem is and your own definition of a problem refutes your claim. An ugly character is often used as a signal in modern games made for the non-existent modern audience.

The signal itself is a huge problem since it tries to downplay the role of gender, which is a global political agenda that resulted in global outrage (making supreme courts actually having to define what men and women are). They still want the audience to think that male and females are just body types, which it isn't. The body type of a female is a female. You can't have a body type of a female if you are a man.

faces are *** terrible - While I don't mind asian gooner characters these models are horrid in comparrasion to even just normal looking stuff. Obviously I think Faces was a copy and paste job and not some woke agenda. While this hardly makes the game unplayable, it's enough to be like "Ewwwwwww that's a one ugly meatball"

Idk, I'd firmly say that I'm on the same side of the issue as you and Nynja. I don't believe the technology currently exists to change gender. Children cannot give informed consent to go on hormone blockers. Forcing others to participate in your fetish is ridiculous, and the law shouldn't support it. I also strongly dislike the woke writing that is pervasive in some of these games. I hate when ugly characters are forced in for inclusion, ruining the aesthetics of games.

But, the only real argument about the type 1/type 2 thing is that the people who made the menu feel differently than me on the issue. That isn't enough for me to hate them. It seems more effective to pick your battles; did they change something else about oblivion that makes the game itself worse? Do you actually feel a personal outrage that the menu is labeled in a manner like that?

I fully understand your point, and it's a very valid one. I just feel like you downplay the cultural impact of them pushing the agenda since the game will be played by millions of people.

If this was just an innocent take of someone who feels differently about the subject, I'd be willing to tolerate it. But knowing how far they went with this bs (blocker for kids, trans reading time, men in women sports etc) I'd rather just kill it in its roots by not tolerating it at all.

They changed gender to body-type for the simple fact that they are triggered when we tell them that there are only two genders. lol.

A lot of the faces were given some very strange makeovers in whatever engine they're using, and also their mouths move like the character's mouths did initially in Mass Effect Andromeda. Lots of full mouth opening for every single syllable. Flapping of the cheeks/seeing the inside of the cheek. It's even more uncanny than the OG's graphics lol.

Like for some reason they gave the Adoring Fan black sclera, which makes him look like some sorta flesh puppet for an eldritch abomination.

Also over half the options for eyes change the color of sclera, specifcally to being red or bloodshot. I don't know what that is about, at all.

The ladies in Oblivion, for the most part, never looked amazing, but a lot of them look even worse in Remaster. The Yellow Champion in the Arena is the first one I encountered, and she looks very mannish. Also not sure if it's just an arena glitch or what, but every lady I fougth in the arena on the road to Grand Champion was about 2 feet taller than my orc, regardless of race. I don't know if I missed an ill placed height slider in character creation or what.

One example I've found in my limited 5 hours of play atm (mostly spent running in circles casting Minor Heal since arena bow cheese is harder to do now) that might be slightly better is Nerussa in the Wawnet inn.



You can see they gave her red sclera, and the person doing the comparsion photo has her at neutral/displeased expression instead of happy/pleased one. But all in all, she looks OK, even a little less chin than the OG.

However, they ran all lady bodies through some sorta adipose compressor, because ain't nobody thicc anymore, which was one of the things early 2000s chonky 3-D lent itself well too.
