Hi guys, I haven't played BST for years and now I'm updating it, when I played it Berta and Tiger were the two most used pets but my question is:

Nowadays which pets are the most important or the most used? Both for tank and DD.

I'm following the guide in this forum and I have most of the pieces of the guide, but in the same guide they recommend a LOT of pets and the inventory suffers a lot, besides I don't know which pet is more important for each situation.

I'm testing the pets in the Escha Zitah Shockwave boss, but I'm also testing them in other situations like Apex or other battles.

I hope your help about which pets are more important, thank you very much :D

i haven't played BST in a long time and i didn't get to party with one since the adjustments but i'll leave you my uninformed advice anyway.

from my POV BST pets got quite a lot of ridiculous strong buffs/debuffs and i suppose those are the main reasons to invite a BST. Generous Arthur comes to mind with it's -10% HP or -33% attack + defense down, Vivacious Vickie for it's zealous snort buffs, both are probably good jugs to keep around at all times but most likely not the only ones.

then there are more niche ones for example the leech for tp drainkiss if your party goes for tp denial strategy.
then there is also monster affinity that can play a role in making a decission.

in the end if you don't want/can't keep a stack of most jugs around at all times you'll need to know what your group expects from for a particular content, next you want to know what jugs excel for what purpose so get familiar with their buffs/debuffs, monster correlations and skillchain properties.

it's by design, you're supposed to book mogwardrobes.

RhymingShizuna sheep is really good. Rage then charge to chop for sc.

DaringRoland can 1-shot apex mobs and some nms. Fight fantod heel the wait for 2 charges fight volley hoof for 45k+ dmg. Deci before to make light, or go for a cloudsplitter -> deci -> hoof for double light.

EnergizedSefina can put some numbers

Always remember beast strengths and weakness. Killer instinct + strong pet for huge numbers.

Pets do not always cause the best damage. Sometimes pulling out the axes and just rampaging things is the best way. Was hitting 70k decimations on Morta as bst yesterday.

Very good time to be playing Beastmaster in ff11 right now.

So bst isn't the solo specialist it once was its fine to have them in parties? (I'm returning after 7 years) just trying to find a job to get job points/farm for gil and get somewhat prepared for endgame content

BST is nowhere near where it once was, at least not as a returning player from that long ago might remember it. I would suggest playing a job that is easy to pick up and contribute that is also relatively in-demand. WAR, COR, WHM, PLD are all useful starting options and they will get you entry into all relevant content so you can gear up while earning some gil in the process.

It's neither. It can be useful in parties, but still mostly unwanted in pugs and not really that good for solo either (not bad tho). It has really powerful debuff in form of Corrosive Ooze and unique buff in form of killer instinct, but generally most people either don't know or don't value those pros enough.
