Use normal weapons.
Only Supernova (Doom) and Cataclysmic Vortex (-%HP) are dangerous.
Bring Holy Water+% and some DT/MEva.
Shadows are good for preventing death after a Vortex move, keep Stoneskin up.
I usually stick to Sanguine spam, Tauret offhand or something else with Acc/Macc/MAB.
Now is especially good since Cornelia can't die.
I think shadows are a complete waste of time, personally. I also don't bother using Stoneskin after the initial pull, which gives me just enough time to put up silence/para, and the rest of the debuffs are just bonuses. I have tried with and without shadows, and also tested /dnc. /NIN ignoring shadows is by far my fastest way.
Shinryu attacks on a set cycle, every 2.5-3 seconds (unless he uses a TP move or casts a spell). With Malignance, Bunzi Hat and Ayanmo +2 gloves (for enspell bonus), Cataclysmic Vortex has only hit me for 2200 damage roughly 3 times in thousands of uses, which puts me just at the perfect range to die from a random hit the next move, which frustratingly has only happened a couple of times. Usually Cataclysmic Vortex hits anywhere from 1100-1700 damage, and using Sanguine Blade covers heals you after every threatening move. I have a Cure4 macro with capped DT and some Meva to account for the few times I don't have TP and need to heal myself out of critical or yellow health. I use Crocea/Bunzi for weapons.
General strat I have been doing:
full buff >> proshell haste refresh ss gain-int enspell temper2 phalanx
summon cornelia+star sibyll (neither can die, SS buffs sanguine damage slightly)
sabo + silence/para to start, then move behind shinryu to avoid Cosmic Breath
can add additional enfeebles like Distract/Frazzle. Personally, I don't think Bio3, Poison2, Addle2 and Slow2 make any meaningful difference in this fight, so I am iffy on whether I apply them every time. Sometimes I am lazy and just don't bother
Shinryu starts with wings mode on, which is your invitation to deal as much damage as you can before he puts them down. Something like Sanguine > Spontaneity Stone 5 > Stone 5 > alternate stone 3 + sanguine as TP permits (this chunks a good bit of his health during this phase). I started adding nukes during this phase because if he uses Mighty Guard, he will nullify your TP gain if its under a certain damage amount, so you won't always have TP for Sanguine, but you still will want to push damage a lot during this phase
dispel Mighty Guard every time
Panacea Atomic Ray every time, since it lowers your damage significantly
I use remedy to remove para from Gyve Charge, but it doesn't land often
uses doom under 50%, having nicander's neck and a purity ring basically turns holy waters into a high success rate, usually first try, sometimes 2, rarely 3 tries, but never more than that
So long as you control the cadence of the steps above, Shinryu isa cake walk and you can expect to clear it anywhere from 8-13 minutes depending on practice. Sometimes he's a jerk and it takes longer due to his wings mode, but that's out of your control
