yeah I been soloing the frost for my group on nin, migawari eats one cast and since I dont lose any buffs and I usually barely survive the second cast it sometimes gets off, during manafont it moves extremely slowly like it has a form of gravity on it so you barely have to kite at all, actually good way to know when its off is he starts moving normal speed again.

If you have a ranger they can drop a shadowbind on it as well although then everyone has to move out of range.

Sub 4-min VD clear by who else, Xolla:



- RUN, NIN, COR, BRD, BLM & DRK,
- Calad DRK on Frost, he backs out to avoid dispels, no Utsusemi,
- COR and NIN 4-step (Leaden > Retsu > Leaden > Metsu) while BLM MB's water,

Far as I can tell what the BLM did could've been done (better) by having it be a GEO or RDM or SCH or SMN to speed up the nin/cor kill speed and nuke.

Not to start that again, just making a statement. It worked fine, could've been done better. Are they even capping haste with only a bard. and no flurry (brd/rdm?)

Prebuffed by a RDM before entering. If they couldn't prebuff haste/flurry would they have still opted for blm over rdm/geo/sch/smn.

anyone a clue why some of the blizzard spells hit for 0 even tho he doesn't seem to have any form of stoneskin up? i guess the blue 0 are absorb procs (he seems to get a lot of those) at full HP, but that doesn't explain the red 0.

So my group is clearing D but haven't tried VD. Other than stats, is there any difference between D and VD this month?

For NINs that do this, what WS are you using on the physically resistant giant, and would you mind sharing your WS-sets? My NIN only puts out around 2k with Yu after I changed up my sets for it, and my Hi deals 3-5k, so I've just been spamming Hi for the additional damage from the SC. I'd like to deal more however, and not sure what I can do to achieve that.

If you somehow understand this means you have been playing FFXI for far too long.

When I'm on the physically resistant giant I typically 4 step using Chi > Retsu > Hi > Hi. I'm a Kannagi NIN so that's my go to for multistep, can stick the MB on the double darkness for a nice damage bonus as well. If you're using the aeonic katana, probably want to go Shun > Hi > Kamu > Shun > Shun.

For elemental WS purposes, I find Teki to be much more potent than Yu. IIRC Yu damage doesnt scale with TP like Teki does, I believe the poison is the scaler on that one.

For gearing suggestions, someone posted a NIN gearsets thread that has been bumped a few times recently that has some good info. Hope this helps!

Yu is a magic WS, Teki is a hybrid WS. Hybrid WS wont work on something that resist physical damage, because magic portion of hybrid WS is based on physical damage portion.

Fun fact: Utsusemi = empty cicada husk.

Pretty sure they are referring to Gigas, not Iron Giants. They usually wait at least a year before bringing back an Ambu.

oh, ok. my bad.

They might not be following this routine anymore. They brought back the current Mage Mamool sooner than a year. Maybe they want to get all the Ambuscades in at least twice before going to prior Intense Ambuscades for another rotation. Though it would be very soon if they brought IC back for another iteration.

did a search for "giga" in the ambu sub forum with 0 hits but i find it hard to believe there hasn't been a thread made about that one yet. did ya'll get that one banned or am i just blind again?

We just did some dry runs. Nin tank seems to work well but cannot tank 2 mobs. The older video from JP seems like it would still be a decent strategy.

It can, you just need to utilize the right set and keep re-applying shadows for hate. I posted about this earlier in the year with a set that allowed me to survive with just trust buffs for a good period of time on VD.
