btw they always start this a day early for some Free 1,000,000 gil per day campaign as every 3 rl days you can sell a Mars Orb for 3m (on Asura anyway). No idea if Mars orb selling is even a thing on other servers. Is it? If so, how much do they go for? Mars 3m and Venus 5m (sometimes 6 and I have seen it as high as 7 maybe once). I see the Omen bodies go from between 100m (probably sold quickly; normally around 250~300m) to 500m (depending on how thirsty the server is; weekends make for the highest sale prices).
Aaaaand it's open. For me, at least. They apparently have to run a batch to enable accounts one at a time, so they start it early to make sure it gets done in time.

I'm not an expert on business but I believe the price is due to a) they have to pay an artist to make it and b) a FFXI t-shirt is not going to sell thousands of product. The more something sells the cheaper it can be made for.
As such they have to charge more due to lower overall sales or it's not even worth the effort, the alternative is to not make any at all. I wouldn't buy it but I'm sure some will buy it and appreciate them being made. This is why many products end up being JP only, cause there is a hardcore fanbase there and the prices required for small run products don't fly well in other regions. Still, its better than mithkabob shirt
