This cannot possibly be a hoax. A hoax means it's ***. They DID infact criticize him. Therefor their criticism is not and cannot be a hoax. That leaves only one option as to what the hoax is.

Just because he didn't literally say "Covid is a hoax" doesn't mean that's not his logic.

You don't get to decide his logic, lol. Just because you don't think the coverage was a hoax doesn't mean it wasn't what he was referring to. It's much simpler to just say, "He was wrong, the coverage wasn't a hoax." Why you have to twist yourself into knots to project your own interpretation of his comments is beyond me.

That's interesting because that's the exact question I ask when someone thinks he was talking about anything other than "the virus" being "the hoax."

Then there are a lot of drunk people running fact-checking websites when all of them agree, regardless of their political leanings. Imagine thinking that you're smarter than the collective force of people who review such statements for a living.

Imagine thinking the internet is infallible. They're opinions. The only person on earth that knows the fact is incompetent and doesn't even know what hoax means.

Exactly like when you swear in front of a five year old. They keep dropping fbombs(hoax) not knowing what it means but your reaction to it makes them keep doing it.

There might be truth in both of those statements? "Hoax" became a kind of buzzword for him even though he has used it in situations where the textbook definition doesn't actually fit. I mean, that's not unusual for politicians, but Trump seems to be more prone to it than most.

I'm going deeper than I intended here, but while I am pretty fed up with career politicians and their focus-grouped buzzwords and messaging, Trump does tend to go a little more too far in the opposite direction. My ideal candidate would be someone who subverts the "traditions of the fathers" political mentality in the way that Trump does, but also, you know, thinks things through a little better before saying them?

I mean, sure, the media is going to rip any Republican to shreds (just look at the way they turned Romney into the devil incarnate in 2012), but you don't have to give them quite so much free ammo even if they are prone to shooting themselves in the feet with it.
