Dont give a *** about created gil. Give a *** about 3 quadrillion gil that shouldn't exist in the form of su5.
then you're stupid as ***.
new gil damages the economy across the board. duped medals only affects the small subset of items related to it.

Crour and sparks create new gil daily with thousands of bots.
3 quadrillion gil happened one time and was completely fixable. But wasnt. Largest scale *** up in the history of the game.

3 quadrillion gil happened one time and was completely fixable. But wasnt.
and not a single one of that 3 'quadrillion' gil is new. it's all items circulating within the current economy. all these new items do is suppress the cost of those items. SU5 weapons and relic armor mats.
brand new gil from sparks farming, once it's released into the economy, causes everything in the game to be more expensive. you botfarming new gil over time causes more damage to a larger part of the in game economy than a dupe exploit on a single item.

Yeah I'm really confused as to why eiryl doesn't get this. The existence of medals does result in less Gil taken out of the economy which is kind of the same as creating new Gil but nothing effects the game as much as excessive new Gil being created.
He's trying to ***-rationalize why his botting is 'less' harmful than the exploit. When in brutal truth he causes more damage day by day.

Third time. Sparks cannot be fixed. Ever. I'm impossible to stop. So is everyone else. Can't do a damn thing about it. The best you can hope for is a minor slow down.
Medals can be removed.

And that's the whole problem. Can but won't.
Sparks should absolutely be removed. But can't.
Medals should be removed. And can.

Ok, so drop the price of sparks sellables to near nothing. Fixed.
10m/24 hours isn't great though.
Uh, duh? That's why medals are a bigger problem?
One mule can hold 180 billion gil worth of medals plus 50 billion in su5 gear. It would take 36 spark bits 3 years to make 180 billion gil.
Is there a mule out there with 230 billion in items. No. Are there a thousand mules with 10 billion each. Yes!

Remove the spark/accolade and SE loses hundreds of account with chars named adbhbjije.

4000 new mules have sprung up since the free to play campaign ended. One guess what they have been selling.
How do I know. The database was 93000 and now it's 97000
Spoiler, they ain't spark bots.

Sparks are easy to stop. Create a daily limit for gil acquired by vendoring to NPC, say 3m per account(not character). Gain takes a hit(hardcores will still save prize powders or acheron shields to cap their 3m on off days), but spark botting becomes entirely pointless because your sub costs half as much as the gil is worth.
Alternatively, removing the spoils:crystals objectives would gut the serious RMT running alliances of 18 with automatic redemption. Most of their sparks are coming from crystals. It probably wouldn't drive people like eiryl out, but it'd deter china shops that have other games to target. Don't think many players would care.
A billion medals will lower the price of medals, eventually probably su5, necks, and shards. It will lower the dollar price of gil, a bit. But, the influx of gil to rmt and crafters will drive the price of everything else up, which balances the value of gil and isn't a significant problem to the ingame economy.
Introducing raw gil straight drives the price of everything down, including gil. There's no comparison here.

I meant in terms of $ since that's what Eiryl is concerned with, probably should've been more clear.
Medals drive down the price of medals, and gil by a bit, but people aren't buying gil to have gil. They're buying gil to finish their latest RME, buy the latest hot item, etc, so as long as that isn't medals or a deritive of medals it ends up being effectively the same because they'll buy more gil at a lower price(and sellers who sell anything besides medals or npc mats will get more gil for what they're selling).

I don't see how it makes sense that things get cheaper when there is more Gil about. The extreme inflation 11 or 12 years ago was because there was much Gil about?
Also when you could make money selling barone armour it inflated prices? Weird we agree on something. Ya I don't get how people think putting more gil on the servers hurts the economy it's not like ISK from Eve. Those of us that have been playing from the start of the game have seen it do nothing but go up. Outside of people *** with the market like gadfather and others I've not seen ***get cheap because of more gil.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read, and I once had an economics teacher who couldn't pronounce "entrepreneur."
Gil prices go down, the price of everything else goes up because people have more gil to waste.

Quote: Regarding an Item Duplication Exploit
Good day, adventurers. This is the Special Task Force (STF), the team charged with investigating and suppressing unethical conduct that negatively impacts players’ FINAL FANTASY XI experience.
Several days ago we confirmed that some players were using an external program to create duplicates of specific in-game items. We would first like to apologize for the concern that this has caused, as bits and pieces of this information were posted on unofficial fan sites and message boards.
This message is to inform you of the measures we have taken to address the exploit and the punishment disseminated to the culpable parties.
Background Information and How We Have Addressed the Exploit
On the night of November 12 (Japan time), we received a bug report stating that it was possible to receive an unlimited number of Beastmen’s Medals and Kindred’s Medals. We acted immediately to verify the report, and determined that it was, in fact, possible to duplicate the items in question. We consulted with producer Akihiko Matsui and temporarily removed the affected NPC as a provisional emergency measure.
The development team then undertook a detailed investigation and confirmed that the exploit did exist and pinpointed concrete methods for consistently reproducing said exploit. As part of the emergency maintenance on November 14 (Japan time), we implemented a server-side fix addressing the exploit and have confirmed that it is no longer possible to duplicate items in this manner.
Player Punishment for Abuse of the Exploit
While the development team worked to fix the underlying cause, the STF focused on investigating suspicious players. We have completed our investigation of all characters who interacted with the NPC in question from early last week until the NPC was temporarily removed, and discovered that 45 players used the aforementioned exploit. We terminated the accounts of those 45 players on November 13 (Japan time).
We take the integrity of the game very seriously, and are widening the scope of the investigation to determine if any players used this exploit before the period in question, and whether or not it was possible for similar exploits to be used on other NPCs or items. If we discover any related conduct, those players will be punished in the same manner.
As we have communicated to players since the game’s inception, the use of external programs in FINAL FANTASY XI violates the Terms of Use, and we will take all necessary measures against players who do so, up to and including account termination. We would like to take this opportunity to again warn you against using such programs, as doing so will put your account in jeopardy.
If you witness any suspicious activity in-game or read information on how to perform such activities on external sources, do not try them yourself or distribute the information to others, and instead report them to the STF immediately.
We will continue to remain ever vigilant against suspicious activity in FINAL FANTASY XI and ask for your continued support in ensuring a level playing field for all players.
