This will be a necrobump, but I have tried it today with my noob rdm. My gear is a mix of ambuscade and UNM items.

I attempted the VE version. Buffed myself, then started debuffing Odin. Got a nice immunobreak on Paralyze II, others sticked without any problems. Used the dmg: 1 weapon, so I've done no dmg, according to the information here and on YT video. But Odin still easily killed me with just normal attacks. Was I doing something wrong? Or maybe I need spend time and money to get a proper -PDT gear?

I've also used trusts: Brygid, Kuyin Hathdenna, Moogle, and Sakura.

You sub ninja and keep up shadows. Did you fail to do that? The point of hitting him for zero is to give zero tp... letting him hit you gives him tp... defeating the purpose.

you need to be full timing Utsusemi. if Odin is hitting you, he gets TP, and him not getting TP is the crux of this strat.

edit: Eiryl beat me to it

I was as /nin, but was more concentrated on putting all the debuffs on him, more than keeping shadows up all the time. I will try it again, thanks for pointing it out.

I solo Odin a few years ago to get Gere Ring.. got it quick but now i want a few more items. I recently resubbed and start killing him again... I've killed at least a dozen times on N and I have not seen ANY other item drops did they nerf his drop rate or penalize solo over the last few years?

I don't have freke, either sword, polearm, helm or armor is it realistic that i'm THIS unlucky?

The drop rate isn't high on Normal to begin with. Bump the difficulty up to see better drops.

Let me know when you've hit over 400 runs on VD and haven't seen a piece of armor. That's my record on Shinryu. Still counting.

I did it on D last week with TH4 and got both rings for someone else and a pokey stick in less than 14 attempts.

VD seemed like it was not worth doing just because of the time it takes. I retired my max enspell damage set when I took the merits out so it's possible VD isn't as bad when properly geared.

I haven't done this in 5 years, I started again to help a friend who needs drops.

Noticed in my notes I had "use enspell of the day" but that proved kinda wrong to me because on watersday my Enwawter enspells were doing around 222 per hit whereas Enfire was doing over 400.
Sooo... what is your experience with days and enspells for Odin?

Edit:
Enaero on Windsday worked nice. 455 damage per hit and lotsa 500 which I assume was the day proc

IMO using light elements worked better than a dark aligned spell on its day.

Yeah I guess focus on light alligned elements. If it's a light-alligned day then go for day element, otherwise stick to any light-alligned one, I suppose.

Just one look at Odin's elemental resistance ranks should be enough to show why using dark-aligned elements is much less effective. Light-aligned elements are the way to go.
