9 attempts- 1 mimic, 8 success
Mars Orbs: 7 thuds- one had 5,000,000gil Venus orb: 1 loud thud- dark matter and junk rare/ex between 2 and 7 chest before i got thuds and left. Just did 2 more, and got same exact drop back to back. Pelagos Lance + sack + Craft mat. Both Thud on first box.
Does that 5 mil gil bonus go for the whole party for that run, just 1 person or randomly people in a run?

12345 67890 and getting *** wrecked. Now, I've started opening them furthest away possible from the previous open, something like; 17048 35926 Getting much better results. (disclaimer, it's just random dumb luck, but I'm rolling with it for now.) You can still hit a mimic 1/1 no matter what strat you use. *also, it's important to remember, I'm using many more orbs than an average person. You only get to see a couple "wins" and not dozens of fails. Last month got lucky and obtained an Annointed Kalasiris. This month, mars orb opened with a mimic right off the bat, followed by a venus orb that dropped T4 Reisenjima garbage on a loud thud:

I do a counter-clockwise twirl in my chair while taking a sip of beer before every chest I open. I've noticed that I only sometimes get a mimic this way. ymmv

There is no reason to kill the box.
Either you get a loud thud and you exit, or you get no loud thud and a mimic, which means you kill it for nothing.
