2004 era. On and off player, usually played 3-5 hours on event days, otherwise I was pretty casual. Occasionally will still log on during the return campaigns just to get my nostalgia kick. :)
Highlights from the early days for me:
- I loved me some Garrison and Eco-Warrior!
- Valkrum Dunes parties were always full of fun and death.
- Having a lv 30 paladin help me get my items I needed for my subjob, then wanting to become a Paladin.
- Leveling Paladin to be my first 75 job! Took almost a year because max EXP on a Chain 5 was 300.
- Finding an amazing LS (SteelSyndicate) to run with through CoP, ToAU and some Abyssea.
Tricks I used along the way:
- Creating characters over and over to get fame for the Aspir scroll quest. Was a really easy way to make 100k-150k in an hour, which was a lot back in 2005!
- Using a two-handed weapon in battle, then disengaging and re-engaging to bypass the delay. Also worked if you swapped weapons right after the attack animation. You could kill stupid quick before they patched it in like 2006 or so.
