Why would Maletaru elitist use less than the optimal set up?
It seems like you've kind of moved the goalpost from:
"Item that is game changing makes a strategy possible"
to
"This item is really good and optimal strategy uses it"
if a melee strategy can be done with a slightly different comp without the item, does it matter that it's not the ideal strategy? the ideal strategy will always have accompanying ideal gearsets

Best way to bait someone like Maletaru into giving you something useful is to say something they disagree with, or they won't say anything constructive.
Definitely haven't moved the goalposts with that post.

If you want to be more like me, you could just ask. My DMs are open.
Always happy to share strategies, I've got writeups for everything and plenty of experience on most jobs in most fights. I also work very closely with my friends on fine-tuning their jobs even if I'm not playing them. We have a very collaborative group and I'm happy to share that with you, all ya gotta do is ask.

I butt heads with Maletaru a lot here, but he's never been a "git gud scrub, figure your own ***out" kinda guy.

Yeah Male is definitely straight forward and shares. Asking sounds a lot quicker than trolling him unless you're just looking for a fight for the entertainment of it. His only real personal bias is towards BRD and honestly it's much better than most because at least it's backed up by the game blatantly supporting it.

Has it really been a whole year since the last SP dial keys campaign?
When's the last time they did that. 11/23?

Hole on guys, can we just all take a moment and stop napping on the most revolutionary game-changing upgrade ever to be casually hidden in a version update?
Quote: New items have been added to Button Settings.
Shutdown / Target Nearby NPC / Jump (/jump) / Map (/map)
Dedicated jump button. FFXI will never be the same. Imagine the freedom of jumping in place with no horizontal momentum, at the convenience of a button press! Whole new horizons of standing in place are opened up! Will the tarutaru at long last claim dominion over the cookie jar on a high shelf, once the bane of their collective existence?

So the RNG affected earring augment rolls too? Bleh, SE, bleh. Well I see two chances here.
It could be true and it was very slight, we won't notice a difference.
Or it was quite noticeable but they didn't want to admit it so they wrote "slight".
Either way we'll find out soon in the next days I guess.

Oh, you beautiful sweet summer child. Never lose that innocence.
People do nothing but complain over there. Usually it has all the impact of farting into a hurricane. This one only got addressed either because the complaint came with data analysis to back it up, or possibly because someone on the Japanese side of the forum also said something.

I know there is this conspiracy that they only listen to japanese players but we in the west love to complain but not in a constructive way.
"xyz doesn't work. Fix it nao!"

Haha I love that you can assign a button to /jump now.
By Pantafernando 2024-10-10 05:48:53
I thought funny the timing when you reread the "useless moves" thread, and one of the first answers was about how useless is the emote /jump, then SE double-up and said:
"Useless my ***, have a shortcut of it so you can be useless faster!"

I didn't think the gamepad config application could get any more needlessly complicated than it was.
Leave it to SE to prove me wrong. There is now a configurable toggle button that, when pressed, gives you a whole set of new buttons to configure to do different things.
"But what would anyone use this for 22 years after learning how to use controller in XI?"
"Frakking nothing, that's what. Now shut up and configure your toggle button."

Some Japanese players were able to clear both of the unbeaten master trials thanks to their new ability to hot swap to their jump macro.

I just popped 63 old cases. 2 +1s. Small sample not looking great for an increased rate.
Spread was also skewed towards the first 6 jobs lol.

JP button wins again!
I've used a controller since ps2 release and these updates just mess with my binds on my external mapping programs if I accidentally press the gamepad button. I don't think they are going to ever get to the point where I would replace what I'm using with what they are offering but I'm happy if other people are getting value out of it.

I can do the same, I have 65. I should have saved the +1 cases I got last night too but 20/20.
EDIT: Different distribution for me, but 1 out of 65 cases is a new low for +1s for me. There's the nerf we were asking for. FFXI team does not disappoint or change course.

Think will have to resort to external mapping programs too. What do you use Iocus?
What I want is basically '/target <stnpc>' on a controller button. Their implementation is close, but tends to target your trusts and with no subtarget still leaves you clicking left and right through everything to find the mob.
Targeting your own trusts cannot be turned off as opposed to other's trusts, which is annoying.

The change was one percent. It's statistically meaningless.
(*)Points for hoping they accidentally made it 100% though and popping them before they could fix it.

100% had that thought. I had a stash of +1 cases ready to roll if the upgrade rate was super high lol.
