Yes, there is a myriad of things they can/should/I would do, to "motivate" (force) you to do besieged.
But as it is currently, and as it will likely remain, is as such.

-5% Exp/CP/EP in ToAU zones per General captured, Locus mobs aggro if the candy is taken, new hordes of Apex Beastmen defending captives.
Gotta motivate players to take new Beseiged srsly.
KRT and Bibiki Bay become more packed and people don't do LOLibri until someone else fetches the generals for them

Bring Back Eco Warrior/Garrison as a form of MLVLing. With a chance of dropping Earrings.

The candy being taken isn't an issue if retrieving it is as simple as it is now. People will tako directly to the exact spot to grab it and return it. There'd have to be several steps to the retrieval process and actual penalties to make you care. I don't believe they'll take the time to actually implement those to make you want to do besieged, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Are you sure people are POSing over? Its really not that big of a deal to farm the KIs to enter the fight, certainly not worth the risk knowing how easily it is to get caught POSing, especially over those distances.

So upcoming ambu for spooky season is headless + horse meng!
I don't remember it, but it sounds like a pain sync fight.

It is painsync. TP horse, WS headless, repeat. Horse makes a light based conal move that can one shot KO if not enough meva/mdb for light.
Was pretty easy IIRC. With today's gear can probably use monk roll instead of chaos and have everyone WS the headless.

I remember going monk last time and 4 stepping light onto the dullahan to finish him off. I think it was asuran fists to either tornado kick or howling fist (interchangeable) to victory smite to victory smite. I remember that trashing the thing pretty hard. But other than that it was tp on horse and weaponskill the dullahan. It wasn’t too bad.

Yes, the strategy was 3 or 4 step light, one dd. Mnk was preferred for the subtle brow, but Sam or any other 3/4 step light dd works fine too.

Also, Chi Blast the Dullahan at start and PLD uses Holy Circle + Sepulcher. By the time you kill the horse from normal attacks, Chi Blast will be ready again and Dullahan will be so low that a multi-step will take care of him. I remember doing this fight with 3 people before.

Tried and true SMN burn on dullahan with Ifrit then finish off pony with Ramuh also works.

They killed SMN strat already (kind of, at least slowed it down)
Quote: The Bozzetto Retributionist now resists multiple hits from Blood Pacts while Blood Weapon is active.
As it didn't really work like they expected, wouldn't be surprised if they alter it more.

What is the item that makes endgame easier?
My guess is a Exemplar Points cape that gives a bonus %.

An item that "makes reaching end game easier" is a skip missions button. All reforging locked behind antiquated sea access is janky. And all htmb locked behind more antiquated missions too.
What it could actually be though, their idea of what a player needs to be able to do content isn't what a player actually needs to get into content. All a player "needs" to get to "end game" is gil. The ability to buy better stuff is priority one. (well, the time to throw away is paramount, but you can't give time)
If a person can simply get into 5/5 nyameR0 or 5/5 malig or 5/5 empyrean+3, they're set (full time)((good enough)) for everything up to the penultimate end game. (v15 gaol)

This is SE we're talking about, so my guess is an item that gives 75 merits.

Yeah, I would not be surprised with a voucher for reforged Empy +2 or something like that.
I would also not be surprised if it was a Maat's Concoction ._.

Hopefully Vana'bout puts out and the earring fix is significantly more than a 1% variance. There was mention for Besieged being ready by the end of the year, but unless that's an XIth month or christmas gift then it looks like we're waiting.

There's still hope they fix the terrible drop distribution on HTBF fights too, right?
What is the item that makes endgame easier?
They actually said
Quote: makes it easier to reach the endgame content.
Sounds like a higher quality version of Maat's Mix/Concoction that probably gives you straight MLs or 2100 JP in a single use, allowing new players to completely skip CPing entirely and get right into content. Job points grant a ton of stats and job perks, and makes you eligible for Master Levels right away, which further allow you to enhance your job skills. If the item gave you MLs, you would still need to skill up to see some of the improvement in levels.

Why would that be silly as a one-time reward for Vana'Bout, which comes around only 1-2 times a year?

Yeah I am not sure it would be job points or anything like that. "end game" content is locked behind missions and time. I interpret "reaching end game content easier" as somehow reducing steps required to have access.
Now as to what or how, no idea. But "making it easier to reach end game content" is not the same as making end game content easier through job points, job mastery and or gear etc.

I guess it depends on how we or SE interprets "reach". It could be a KI to skip certain mission requirements for sure. They added mission KIs that gave you perks or bonuses and shortened certain timers on entry to stuff.
I see everything in their model as a progression. Its reaching 99, then enter entry level content like Ambuscade, collect some JSE armor, Job Point/Master, enter endgame/ML era. They've added items in the past to move into the endgame faster, like deeds to make skipping past certain content (you can direct buy specific +1/+2 armor pieces without ever questing lower AF or farming Relic pieces). Mix/Concoctions are small skips you get from missions and deeds. Even Bonanza rewards allowed you to skip past progress to get the reward directly. So I was thinking as a one-time reward for something similar.
