Parry cap 20%

Inquartata trait plus gear is 39%
Inquartata trait 13%
Turms feet 8% (10% +1)
Ogma cape 6%
Emp pants 4%
Gifts 8%

Battula is 56% with merits.

Is that 95% before skill and 115% if parry is capped?

Is there a total cap or an inquarta cap?

RUN receives an 8% bonus to Inquartata via gifts. That would put 95% parry rate, not including HQ. No known cap from what I can see.

Given the fact that Turms Mittens is healing during parry, you should go warm up a sammich as soon as you pop Battuta, cuz you're pretty invincible for the duration.

The ones I think of are WKR Bird and Selkit and AA GK not sure about any others atm.

Another thing would be Dispel and When NM's like to strip you nekked like Incursion (main and sub slot) and Sand worm mobs/NMs I'm sure there are others but those are only ones that come to mind atm

Not that it particularly affects the overall result here, but.... Where are you getting that 20% cap for parrying? I've seen higher than that even on PLD. I have an old parse at 25% parry rate, no Inquatarta or parry enhancing equipment beyond a 119 wep. Trash mobs, of course, but that's how parrying is.

But that aside, realistically, parry rate via skill is going to be 5%, because even on RUN, your base parry rate before Inquatarta is probably going to be floored on anything ilvl, and certainly floored on major NMs.

Well, BG wiki's parry page is wrong.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with the link to inquatarta testing though.

While I cannot share the exact value of the parry cap, when fighting a monster that is the same level or above, the value is such that you will not be able to reach the maximum. On the other hand, when fighting monsters that are lower level than you, there will be cases that you reach the cap; however, these are monsters that are so weak that you wouldn’t be rewarded experience points from them.

That's what the devs had to say. You can't even cap parry against something your own level.

Um, Parry cap on RUN is actually 424 and I capped it on mobs higher level than me.

We're not talking about skilling up and capping parry skill. We're talking about capping parry rates. As in, parry triggering x% of the time, etc

The inquartata testing shows a high of ~33% and a low of ~18%.

5% floor, 20% cap. Pretty decent samples, but you said you've seen higher.

Ahh, ye olde Kparser library. You serve me well.

I don't think I was /RUN for this, but honestly I can't even recall why I did this parse. It's dated 2014-05-18. <,<

I also recall doing a similar test right after ilvl parry skill was added to weapons, on the mandies in the boyhada tree. The lvl 72~ ones, and also getting 25%. But I can't seem to find that parse. I know for damn sure I wasn't /RUN for that though.

I did find a couple other tests though. None of these state the subjob either, but I would think I'd have noted it if I was using /RUN.

PLD 99
623 Parrying again for this and the next.

iirc, this test was done maybe a month?, after ilvl skill was added.

I'm a bit surprised at the highwing results. I'd have though parry rate would have started to drop by then.... I'm beginning to wonder at what mob level it will actually start to drop... Might have to revise my statement about it being floored all the time, after some more tests anyway. Since it hasn't changed at all from level 100 to level 109, I'm not getting any idea as to how much it will drop per level once it starts to. Maybe by 120 it'll be floored? I dunno. But it's certainly a bit different than the impression I had. Ilvl parrying apparently counts for something, at least on this lower level stuff.

You could take this as a fair indication of the cap being 25%, but I'd still like a test on much lower level mobs(my memory does not count as a reliable resource, lol) and a test with significantly higher parrying skill. The second is because I recall cases with shield testing where despite the mobs being some 30 odd levels lower than me, adding additional shield skill was still able to increase the block rate. Perhaps parry does the same?

In any case, I do consider this sufficient to say that whatever the cap is, it is not 20%.

btw, in his testing, Taim Meich never did state his actual parry skill, he just mentions the difference in skill caps. Perhaps he wasn't using an ilvl weapon? he was skilling up great sword after all, killing the mobs too fast can be an issue.

If you can find a mob that is immune to whatever damage type you can ilvl then you could do that. Energetic Eruca in Mount Z is immune to slashing. Could probably afk there all night and get a good sample size. I dunno.

Anyone determine relic head Battuta effect? BG wiki does not have info on this piece.

If the answer is “Go out and test yourself” I can do that just thought I would see if someone from the community that does not use BG or does not feel up to editing would know!

It appears to increase the "counter" spikes damage. That said I don't have hard numbers or parry rate tests handy atm. So I can't actually exclude it increasing the parry rate as well, but I very much doubt it does.
