Its not a special prosecuter, Mueller is a special counsel that will be overseeing the ongoing FBI investigation into the Russian interference. Basically, the DOJ does not want Trump to be picking the guy that is going to be in charge of investigating him. I think Trump should contact Hillary she is an expert in avoiding going to prison.

Lawmakers’ Russia probes to continue despite appointment of special counsel WaPo so conservatives can dismiss it as facts I don't like. I know Dems are celebrating the multiple investigations into the Russia probes, but it's going to backfire hard if each one turns up nothing. Having a bipartisan approval of the special counsel will just make the conclusion even harder to reject. If it were someone that only Republicans liked, Dems would be able to dismiss it.
A lot of eggs in this one basket....

Years away from any of these investigations ending, no reason to be worried about any "backfiring." Especially given how many *** the WH is turning in.

The DOJ just took a major step in ensuring the investigation isn't compromised any more than it already has been by Trump, but it won't stop you from crying "no evidence."
