To be honest.

They just used the stuff. They didn't invent it.
Didn't they develop the concept that brought about Tang?

You know, super-dried food in a powdery substance for easy storage.

Tang is a fruit-flavored drink. Originally formulated by General Foods Corporation food scientist William A. Mitchell[1] in 1957, it was first marketed in powdered form in 1959.[2] The Tang brand is owned by Mondelēz International.

Sales of Tang were poor until NASA used it on John Glenn's Mercury flight[3] and subsequent Gemini missions. Since then, it was closely associated with the U.S. manned spaceflight program, leading to the misconception that Tang was invented for the space program.[4][5]

They certainly made advances in freeze dried foods, but they didn't invent Tang particularly.

Also, Buzz thinks Tang sucks.

Possibly?

By now the government has probably cheaped out and is using some generic substitution. Though as I recall, they put actual teenie bottles of Tabasco sauce in MREs, so maybe!

A small portion of things actually contributed by NASA, however. There are ~1800 documented examples, all told. Either via invention or as spin-offs of NASA-derived technology:

Nah, I found it. "Jianas Brothers Packaging Company" so, I doubt it's Tang.

Quote:
“It's amazing how good governments are, given their track records in almost every other field, at hushing up things like alien encounters. One reason may be that the aliens themselves are too embarrassed to talk about it.

It's not known why most of the space-going races of the universe want to undertake rummaging in Earthling underwear as a prelude to formal contact. But representatives of several hundred races have taken to hanging out, unsuspected by one another, in rural corners of the planet and, as a result of this, keep on abducting other would-be abductees. Some have been in fact abducted while waiting to carry out an abduction on a couple of aliens trying to abduct the aliens who were, as a result of misunderstood instructions, trying to form cattle into circles and mutilate crops.

The planet Earth is now banned to all alien races until they can compare notes and find out how many, if any, real humans they have actually got. It is gloomily suspected that there is only one - who is big, hairy, and has very large feet.

The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head.”

If Hillary can go to bat for a pedophile and destroy a 12 year old girl to do so, imagine what she'd do fighting for us, the American people. I've changed my mind. #imwithher

Yet had they refused to appoint an attorney to the rapist, you'd be up in arms about his constitutional rights being violated. And it is the constitutional duty of that attorney to apply due diligence to their appointed task.

You can provide a defense for the accused without attacking the 12 year old rape victim especially for a defendant she admittedly knew was guilty.

Yeah, well. I'm not wasting any more time defending her beyond the abstract. I've read through the details, she didn't specifically attack the girl, she stated facts that sought to bring reasonable doubt into the case, and she did attempt to get herself removed from the case several times because she was not comfortable defending the man.

I think what she did was wrong, but I also think plea bargains are wrong. I think a lot of things in our legal system are wrong. But there's not a lot that can be done about it.

...except he's no better. Hillary was appointed against her preference to defend a rapist 40 years ago.

Donald Trump is good friends with and defends a sex offender. Multiple sex offenders, really, at this point.

And I wasn't talking about this vote, I was talking about the legal system itself.

Sometime tells me "making the legal system safer for victims" isn't at the top of Trump's todo list.

On a related note, have you seen how CNN's ratings have been crashing lately? They've fallen behind MSNBC. People are starting to realize how crappy the network has become now that it has lost all sense of objectivity.

You cannot have Don Lemon on the air and expect to be taken seriously as a network.

Don Lemon with a name like that he could be a D list porno actor !

As for NASA ("Never A Straight Answer"), the majority of that "secret technology" is more under the control of the Office of Naval Intelligence and other groups in a joint effort.

NASA has done more for this country on a smaller budget than you can even conceive.
Fact: Without NASA, we would not have the wonderful invention known as the Microwave Oven, and a whole slew of other inventions.

I never understood this line of thinking, and I've heard variations of the following phrase way too often: "If it hadn't been for (insert inventor here), we wouldn't have (insert invention here)".

Ignoring the fact that NASA didn't actually invent the microwave oven, just because someone thought of something first or got to the patent office first doesn't mean nobody else would have ever pulled it off. For many major inventions, it has often gone like this: "If it hadn't been for (insert inventor here), we would've had (insert invention here) within a few days/months/years of that anyway." That's not to say that there haven't been genius inventions that have been ahead of their time, but it's naive to think that no one else would have thought of a vast majority of them eventually.
