I've sort of stalled at the "time to build the relay" section.

Inclined right now to go with the Railroad, though if the institute says the right things I could be convinced to go with them.

Or they could say the wrong things and I could burn them to the ground.

We'll have to see.

Unrelated: playing with a new character on Survival difficulty, got my first Idiot Savant proc, laughed my *** off at the retard laugh the first time it proc'ed.

So, you have not yet been to the institute?

No.

After this current CP party I'm going to make dinner and I'll ride the night out playing F4.

I'll go ahead and advance the story.

Just so people know, there is a prompt that comes up before you pick a side in at a point you can not return from. Game makes it pretty clear IF YOU DO THE THING SOMEONE WILL GET BUTTHURT.

You can press on until you see that and then back down, as long as you don't start a killing spree you can be chill with people while you get magazines and side quests that allow you to mod clothing yadda yadda.

On this note, does this come in stages?

I'm maxed on all the crafting perks, but some stuff that I thought would be able to made ballistic, as it were, I can't?

Kellogg's outfit, Silver Shroud outfit, etc.

Edit: Tangentially related, I really need to download some vault suit mods. I really dislike the vanilla vault suit but it really seems like the best under-armor (not to be confused with my RL beloved Under Armour™) wear.

Question: Trying to walk a line of keeping the Institute and the Railroad both "happy" until I go past this point, but this:

Becomes a point of contention. PAM has asked me to clear a site for the Railroad, and I've killed the Mirelurks inside the building, but there are also some Institute-loyal synths there, and it seems I can't get the "clear" on the building without taking them out.

Is that going to *** the Institute off?

I suppose I could just save, murder them all, and find out, couldn't I? Just time is such a commodity these days since I decided to bump up my XI time again for some *** reason.

I actually held out as long as possible before making a decision, but I picked up this passive aggressive thing where I'd drop mines in their patrol routes and accidentally pop some of their people in the head while aiming down-field. I made the decision pretty early on, lol.

I feel I have some internal bias in this one, my first Fallout was Fallout 3 and of course you deal with Lyon's BoS aka not absolute *** so I've always been pro-BoS, also the Institute seems really shady and I have only briefly encountered them.

Still need to start the Railroad line of quests.

I'm not certain you understand how passive aggressive works. <_<;;

Oddly, Lyon's BoS is actually pretty bad at being BoS. The Outcasts were more "real" BoS in practice.

Luckily gunning down the biggest dickholes of the Outcasts was part of the DLC questline and the rest were cool with you after that.

But yeah. Fallout 3 had the most favorable BoS representation, and even then they're kinda ehhhhhh sometimes.

Edit: Was always a bit annoyed by the inability to enter a relationship with Lyon's daughter. I love me a paladin woman. Rawr.

I'm super annoyed you can't add weave to the vault suit or military cap. Vault suit + combat armor + military cap was my jam.

You totally can.

When it comes to non-armor visuals in vanilla, I'm a Kellogg's outfit and newsboy hat kind of guy.

WHAT

Did they change that? Is it PC/mod only? I'm PS4 and couldn't do it, even with full Armorer.

I'm still playing entirely vanilla. I generally like to do my first play through that way at least, and I've been taking my sweet time doing a lot of exploring/etc. on the first play through. I don't think it's different on PC, as I watched a video about it at one point and I'm pretty sure the guy was playing on Xbone.

(My provided screenshot is just from a Google search, not my own, though that is approximately the color of my own HUD.)

No, see, I pulled that screenshot from Google.

But I personally am playing Vanilla and am able to do it.

Err. I think?

Now you've got me second-guessing myself because I just picked up the ability to do ballistic weave Sunday night, and that was the last time I played, and now I'm wondering if I can do it on Vault suits or I just upgraded the Vault Suit to max via normal means.

Eff.

Don't the various upgrades to armour/weapons show up whether you can make them or not? I've got various greyed out ones telling me I need to upgrade my perks to be able to craft them.

Yeah. If you check that screenshot closely you can see the final upgrade is locked.

my schedule actually opened up, so I'll be able to check soon.

Edit: No weave on vault suits in vanilla. I guess they don't count as the right type of clothing. I can put a weave on Agatha's Dress, and I have a weave on my military fatigues, which is under armor like the vault suit. I think this might just either be an oversight(Either vault suit is meant to take a weave or fatigues are not), or it is working as intended and there are two classes of under armors(military which takes weaves and non military which doesn't).

On PC there are ways to still enjoy the fixes and have infinite money. if that is ALL that is holding you back from patching.

If you're already abusing a glitch on PC just save yourself the time since you're already cheating and hit the ~ and player.additem all the things.

"player.additem f 1000000" for instance will make you a millionaire!

I just largely use it at for bobby pins because they're the silliest thing to have to manage and keep track of.

I've been exploring the highway now that I've got a jetpack. Found a full suit of X-01 east of Greygarden, just standing next to what looks like vertibird wreckage.
