Went for a walk through Seattle's Ravena park with a pair of friends who were doing Pokemon Go.
90% of the people we saw on the trails were playing it. Surprisingly its a fairly social game with people trading sightings and other game stuff. I mean even talking to each other while staring at their phones.
My friends had an external battery pack so the battery life thing didn't affect them much but each of their phones crashed several times. Overheating?
So far it looks like a great way to get people who don't own dogs out into fresh air and city parks.
Overheating is a huge problem. I use CleanMaster, CoolerMaster, and try to power and close evry app before using it. Even put on battery saving mode. But it still gets to 100+ degrees.
disabling the camera and enabling low battery consumption really helps with battery life and overheating.
turning off music helps as well.
on low battery consumption, when the phone is upside down, the screen turns black and screen dims down. can still hear sounds and feel vibrations in this mode.
i need to learn how to do stuff with my phone i gave this pokemon thing a whirl to see if i could find something funny... charizard guards the entrance to a mosque lol and hooray i now know what a charizard is

Charizard seriously? I got to a point where I thought you couldn't encounter an evolved Pokemon, then I stumbled upon a Raticate, a freaking Raticate.
i didn't catch it as i have no intention of playing the game lol i just wanted to see if i could find demonic lookig stuff at churches outside of the normal stuff
all the Gyms in my area are guarded by rare/evolved ***. Golducks, Flareon/Jolteon/Magmar/Hypno etc. it's insane, and with how the servers have been/the short time since release, I suspect foul play.

Since it's a game where the profits are based on micro-transactions, it could always be the result of people paying to win.

My towns gym is at the local library, I think the librarian may be a pokenerd herself, so I doubt I will ever take that over.

the pay to win elements seem to be healing items, incubators to hatch eggs, and incense/lures to draw more wild poke'mon. I highly doubt that someone has, within a day or two of the game launching amid constantly downed servers, managed to raise Poke'mon roughly 20-100 times stronger than one freshly caught. you cannot buy the points used to level/evolve (that I have seen, I only did a quick browse of the cash shop) that is what leads me to think it is so suspect.
People are already hacking their phone's location to give them better chances at finding different pokemon. I'm not surprised of any suspicion of foul play.
Gonna try for a Flareon soon. Dunno how long it'll take.
Its my second one, my first turned out to be garbage though, capping out around 800. :(
Any idea how to tell if one will cap higher than another?
Look at the half circle of the eevee, Using a little math, you can gauge where it will cap at depending where the gray line ends. Notice mine is like.. 96~% filled, it'll cap out around 1220 or so. When you level up, the bar is able to be filled a little more.
So basically, you want to find a high CP Eevee whos numbers are nice depending on where the gray bar is located. When I caught and evolved mine, it was at 424 with ~80% bar filled. When evolved, it jumped up to 1050ish.
...also, may the grace of RNGesus ever be in your favour.
I realize the game itself won't look anything like this until maybe a decade or two of updates, if ever. Even so, I am happy to be alive in this day and age.
For perspective, it is very reminscent but NOT TO BE CONFUSED with Google's April Fool's joke:
