I have a note 3 and have been saving my upgrade for over a year for the note 5. Now I'm not so sure... The lack of a micro SD slot and removable battery really turn me off. Any suggestions? Live in California on AT&T plan. Looked at the OnePlus line, and am really only interested in Android.
MicroSD card
Pros:
*Cheap mass external storage.
Cons:
*Everything else.
SD cards are nightmare for Android. It takes development just to make them compatible with apps or the phone itself. They are poor quality storage and can fail at anytime with no warning (has happened to me and many others) causing data loss. Regardless of which company makes the card this is true.
They are incredible
bottlenecks that are not ever going to measure up to internal phone memory (look up how the S6 is a first of its kind in internal storage) which continues to improve. SD cards are simply retardedly slow and unreliable.
SD cards were from the fledgling days of Android where the capacity needs outstripped available system hardware. They were simply a stopgap measure that has been being phased out rightfully so.
There is simply no real reason to use them as things like USB C are coming into phones like the One Plus Two and all new devices.
This will be the norm as are sealed batteries becoming. Sealing a battery in place allows for adding a larger battery (and better waterproofing I suppose) to the phone as it does not need to be made removable. It is simply more efficient design, but yes I like a removable battery where as the SD card slot is junk.
My One Plus one has 11GB in music, 4gb in apps, and 13.5 GB in HD pictures and a couple of short videos. This leaves me with 26.5GB left. That is after 55gb being available after formatting.
So nearly half the phone is still free, and I don't even need to keep a lot of that on the phone. The only time I don't have constant internet access is when I am out of the country. That 13.5GB could mostly go to the Google Photos cloud. Besides a lot of the pictures are a ridiculous size from using the HD format.
Anyway, the only real reason to get the One Plus line is price and maybe the Android experience it provides with its enhanced stock UI.
A phone like the Moto X Pure Edition that is about to launch very soon (pre orders up) is $10 more than the One Plus Two and expected to be superior. Essentially the phone of this year sorta stuff is what the nerds are clamoring over.
Only drawback is that it starts at 16GB storage. Still making the OPO or OPT the better buy even if inferior.
TL;DR
Comes down to how much phone do you really want or need I suppose.
On the Note 5 I would honestly wait for the reviews to come out and you have an upgrade so there is not a reason to buy a One Plus.
