Drain/Aspir Potency Cap

What is it? BG/Clopedia are not very clear to me.

AFAIK no cap has been determined. If you stacked Atma of Dunes with a bunch of the recent stuff, you should be able to find out if there's a cap pretty quickly.

Simple ansewer is there is no know cap on potency for it. based on what you said about not understanding the wikis. I presume that you do not understand the equation for drain and aspir; so I will give you an example.

let's say you have 500 skill
500/(5/8)= 312.5
312.5+132.5= 445 That is the max you could drain for with no potency gear but with no resist drain falls somewheres randomly between 50% of max to 100%.

So 445/2=222.5
So your drain can fall anywheres between 222 and 445 with no resist.

No one has legitimately checked for a cap, as far as I know. It shouldn't be hard now given the availability of drain/aspir potency gear. SE tends to like to give things like this a +50% cap, so I would be unsurprised if that was the case.

I think I can get +83% potency pretty easily on GEO, so perhaps I'll go try it later.

Yea this does seem like on of those things that would be 50%. If you don't beat me to it I'll test it tonight.

I didn't forget about this just wound up doing stuff with LS all last night then found out I got rid of some of the gear and didn't have Atma of the Dunes on current character I was going to use for testing. I went and got the gear and atma right before logging off. I'll get to it tonight.

I did some testing tonight; about 300 cast and I did get one that breaks 50% with my skill during cast: 584
No dark weather or day.

My Dark Skill during this test was 406:
406x0.625+132.5=386.75
floor(386.75)
386x1.5= 579 (Should be max it could drain if 50% was cap.)

Sadly I only have 53% 51%* drain potency(20% Geo Hat,5%3% * Earring,8% Belt, 20% Atma). I can go to maybe 73% 71%* (Diablos Pole) but A) I need to verify that is really is 20% B) I need a SCH to come cast Dark Weather on me.
*Update: I noticed the Hirudinea Earring is 3% not 5% like I had thought.
Perhaps then:
406x0.625+132.5=386.75
ceil(386.75)
387x1.51=584.37

50% would be 582.86 if this is the case.

I plan on testing this more this week once I get more potency gear. But I'm inclined to think if the cap wasn't 50% there probably isn't one.

Update: On a side note I can tell you Pixie Hairpin +1 works with it I just got done trying it. I'd presume Arch Ring would to I'll add that to test.

Can you give us more info regarding this update how is dark knight with this Drain/Aspir how much can you get from it. It be nice to check this out.

Can anyone confirm if there is a cap?

The previous picture I posted was a drain 1 for 637 which appears to break the 50% cap. On a burst I was able to drain 1 for 1148.

Sorry I wound up getting a ton more gear and did test this and regularly use it on GEO. There seems to be no cap that I can reach.
I can hit 70 in gear not counting dark elemental pieces(ring/hairpin) which are adding even more and use atma for 20% more and still not seeing a cap.

There could be a cap at 100% perhaps still since I can't hit that in just drain/aspir stuff and pixie and ring just bypass it because way they work. If it turns out not to be a cap at 100% then I would say there is probably no cap at all.
