Back to trump. Lots of chatter today's about him dismissing the opportunity to schilack Hillary in favor of a republican candidate.
If there's one thing that might Sink him, it'll be painting him as a Clinton plant. Because he keeps gaining more momentum. Even post period gate, he's still rising in the polls and favorabiliry.

Not directly, but Bernie sure is landing the union vote.

A big part of the need for unions stems from a lack of government-mandated things like fair pay*, safe working conditions, healthcare, vacation, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, sick family leave, etc.
If those things are regulated by the government, the need for unions -- and their influence -- dissipates.
*yes, yes. I know. "The market" determines "fair pay." Which is a problem, to say the least.

He supports collective bargaining and worker's rights. That aligns with unions. You should look at where his funding has come from before you make those kinds of assumptions.

Didn't I say this like...page 1 or something?
Edit: Not in this thread I didn't, apparently. But I know I said it somewhere.

Big union vote comes with big union funding.
Compared to the money private corporations are throwing at Hillary and the GOP 'dates, it's chump change.

While I agree that maternity/paternity and sick/family leave are crucial parts of worker's rights, I think the bigger problems with safety and fair pay are more centered around superfluous regulation without accountability. Look at the coal waste dams that were built up until the 80's. The regulations required things like "substantial construction". They didn't require any inspection or an engineer to be involved, which isn't necessarily good, but crucially, they didn't outline any kind of accountability or penalty for NOT following them. It lead to sickness from poisoned ground water, massive ecological damage, and in a few cases, catastrophic failure and loss of life. Ore mining is in a similar situation right now. Hundreds of mining companies owe millions in fines for safety violations but are allowed to continue to operate without fixing the violations or paying the fines.

I wouldn't have a problem with socialism if the legislation that was intended to promote it wasn't so economically stupid. For example?
And I don't mean some super crazy "let's stop all oil by 5am because I likez treez" super crazy plot.
Also, are you an economist?
By Ramyrez 2015-08-11 14:17:08
You've seen me rant about fracking. Trust me. I'm on board with that aspect too.
That's not so much a union issue, though.

Not only is it chump change, it represents a way smaller portion of his total fundraising than any other candidate. If you're curious who is funding Sanders, you need only look at your neighbor.

Again, how do you come to these kinds of conclusions from what is written? Nobody likes taxes and nobody hates money. There is a really shitty balance between who has money and who pays taxes.

I think that's a fair statement, yes. I mean, not really worded that way -- no one "loves" taxes -- but the concept, yeah.
I despise the need for and use of money.
But if it's going to be used, then I'll back the implementation of taxes and/or regulations to ensure people are going about things in a manner that is as safe as possible for all involved, and not simply the quickest means to the end of making more money.

So if you don't like money would you like to join my hippie commune ? We grow vegetables !
By Ramyrez 2015-08-11 14:21:48
No. I do, in fact, hate money.
I just don't expect that in my lifetime humans will get past the need for it.

I would like a nationwide (or, better yet, worldwide) community that supports itself, but also bathes and doesn't necessarily make its citizens gather around a campfire singing every night. I mean, people can do that if they want, but they don't have to.
So...no. No hippie commune.

You don't have to sing but you do have to help farm vegetables !

Money is amoral. It's not the money's fault. It's just a stored value of your time and work.

If the value of work was at all standard, that might make sense, but it's not. I know plenty of people who work their hands to the bone day in and day out for peanuts because society has decided that the people who clean the toilets or make their food are of lesser value, while I work part time, mostly because I choose to, and can coast on my previous luck and successes. It's a really pathetic example of "opportunity".

That is how why you don't be a janitor !
You are only worth what people are willing to pay you.
So no janitors aren't worth much because they have "shitty" jobs !
Quote: US TV network NBC is cutting ties with Donald Trump over "recent derogatory statements" that the veteran businessman made about immigrants.
NBC said the company would now not be airing the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants that are co-owned by Mr Trump.
Responding to the announcement, Mr Trump said he would consider suing NBC.
Earlier this month, he accused Mexicans of adding drugs and crime to the US as he announced he was seeking the Republican presidential nomination.
"They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists, and some I assume are good people, but I speak to border guards, and they tell us what we are getting," he said in his speech on 16 June.
He also pledged to build a "great wall" on the US border with Mexico and insisted it would be paid for by Mexicans.
He later insisted he was criticising US lawmakers, not Mexican people. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-33321290
I'm honestly surprised with some of the shit he says. Even though I probably shouldn't be.
